Reviews mention

  • Joyful, collectible packaging
  • Handy mirror compact case
  • Playful, confidence-boosting design
  • Decent on small blemishes
  • Inconsistent patch adhesion
  • Limited extraction performance
  • Awkward star-shaped application
  • Too small, thin patches

Starface earns mixed reviews: the brand delights with joyful packaging, collectible collabs, and the handy mirror compact, but its star-shaped hydrocolloid patches are less effective than competitors for early-stage or cystic acne and often don’t adhere well overnight. Reviews say the standard yellow Hydro-Stars can flatten small, surface pimples and curb picking—while Micro-Cloud and some blue salicylic-acid stars work better—but many find minimal extraction, thin/too-small patches, curling corners, and tricky peeling that prioritizes form over function.

  • Starface is one of my favorite acne patches. I actually had someone at my workplace. Tell me the pimple patches are cool now and I really think that that’s funny. I love that way embracing our skin and our bodies changes instead of being horrified like we have been in the past. Love this brand.

  • Patches are a little too small to fit well on a spot! They’re so cute but I also feel like other hydrocolloid patches work MUCH better

  • I really appreciate the cultural impact Starface has had in terms of normalizing having and treating acne. I've seen dozens and dozens of people in real life and photos online of folks wearing Starface patches in public, and it's refreshing! I purchased Starface patches on one occasion when my usual patch product was out of stock, and I was shocked by how ineffective they were on my acne, given the brand popularity and visibility they seem to have. I didn't notice any reduction to the acne spots I had place Starface patches on after many days of use. I went back to my trusted favorite, Peach Slices' acne spot dots, and the contrast between the two products is jarring. Peach Slice' patches are at least 80% more effective in reducing blemishes, in my opinion and with my skin type (combo, sensitive). Cute branding though!

  • Starface products are one of things I drive across the border to Target to pick up every few months. Others seem to agree though as they are often sold out. The Micro-Cloud patches that target under the skin spots are incredible. The salicylic acid (blue) stars I like, however the shape means they often come off easily.

  • I bought the star case and their yellow star stickers. I am under the impression they’re marketed as hydrocolloid patches, but I don’t feel like they work as such. They are cute and I got a ton of compliments wearing them over my spots as opposed to the other patch alternatives who’re invisible, but why I think they don’t work like hydrocolloid patches was that because despite how much I wear them the only advtange I get is me not touching them without any shrinkage or the gunk pulling hydrocolloid patches do. I have yet to test out the other types of shapes and stars, so I’m not sure if there is a type that’s stronger or works as I expect a hydrocolloid patch to do, but what I know is I love how they look and they keep me from touching my spots.

  • The original stars and the blue (salicylic) stars are brilliant, but every other product has broken me out or been absolutely useless for me. Customer service are lovely though and I love their vibes.

  • star patches DONT WORK, nor do they stick well.

  • got the salicylic acid ones. not sure how good the absorption aspect is bc ironically no new pimples since this arrived. the scar healing is pretty neat. put one on my pimple scars and it faded to almost nothing overnight

  • My absolute favorite pimple patches! I get compliments when I wear them out and my husband is always asking for them when he has his occasional pimple. A family fave lol.

  • I typically go for another brand of pimple patches, but I had to get the star ones recently when I urgently needed an overnight solution. I was pleasantly surprised by the cute packaging and the star designs. They really helped reduce the size of the pimple. I'd use them again

  • These patches are super cute and great for covering up pimples, but they slide around on top of any creams, serums, or treatments which is a bit frustrating. I'm not sure they do anything to heal the spot itself, but they keep me from picking at it which is always helpful. If you're trying to hide pimples rather than heal them, these are a great choice, but there's salicylic acid patches available at a lower price point that I think make a visible change in the appearance of spots, although they don't look half as cute.

  • theyre so cute and i love them! i get so many complements i only wish they were cheaper and stuck to my skin better otherwise my favorite

  • I don’t use these for acne, I use them occasionally when I have a spot I need to dry out or a big bump! They work well and seem to stop it getting worse. I use at night and they are very sticky and stay in place. You look like a bit of a weirdo with a big yellow star on your face though.

  • Unfortunately these patches don't preform nearly as well as other patches on the market. They look cute but the adhesive is quite weak and they don't pull the gunk out. They are good for covering the blemish and helpful if you are someone who picks and touches the blemish but beyond that it isn't doing anything to speed up the healing process. Feels more like a decorative sticker than a hydrocolloid patch.

  • I really love how cute, affordable and effective these are. I actually prefer them to their competitors, as they are a bit looser fitting, so they don't leave a pale circle on your face after removal. I have a subscription and the shipping can be a bit slow but not an issue if the frequency is often enough. I do like how this is the only pimple patch company that provides a case as well.

  • Wearing these makes me feel less self conscious about my spots and heals them super fast

  • Got these in an ipsybox. They are super cute, if you're going to be home alone and not seeing anyone. Otherwise you have yellow stars on your face. It took multiple uses of like 4+ to see any change in pimples though

  • These are cute and I enjoy the celebration aspect of their design, but I found they did very little other than stop me from picking at my active acne.
