Muji earns strong reviews as a minimalist one‑stop shop that works well for stationery, storage, and home basics—its 0.36–0.5 gel pens, notebooks, diffusers, and modular organizers draw consistent praise for smooth performance, thoughtful design, and longevity. Reviews also flag drawbacks: clothing can fit boxy or feel mid‑quality, some items (especially certain home goods) feel overpriced, pens may smudge or skip, and online selection/UX lags, making in‑store experiences distinctly better.

I love the Japanese design for home decors and accessories. They're so sleek, minimalist, yet durable.
Muji has a ton of amazing stuff but first and foremost need to advocate for their pens.

Everything muji makes is kindof amazing? I love their notebooks the most though. The paper quality is very good and they come in such an assortment of sizes that it really makes it easy to use them for all parts of my life
Muji is well known to be a go to for essentials. It does have a Japanese flavor to those essentials (in more of a way of life rather than motifs) but it’s for your clean needs. I think what I would commend muji for the most is their simplistic approach to stationary, travel (with the exception of suitcases, I’ll get to that), and home fragrance. Their stationary is high quality but doesn’t skip on delivering super high quality; known to be a gold standard amongst studying and academic content creators. My personal experience with it has been great as well, especially their highlighters and notepads/labels. Their diffusers don’t skip on quality too, they’re to the point and very effective. Their scent range is not annoying or messy as well. For travel, their containers and accessories are sturdy and withstand a whole lot. I would say that for the suitcases too but the reason why I excluded them was their price tag compared to similar offerings. This is why I dropped Muji’s score. I think besides the categories I mentioned, the reason I don’t go to Muji for the other offerings despite being impressed by the quality across their products is the price tag next to similar offerings.
The sort of place where you can find absolutely anything and everything. Basics for basic prices, and they last because there’s no frills!
Only pens I use! The store experience is fun and very visually calming. I go and get the .38 pens and end up always grabbing a couple other things.
I love Muji, they have so many cute organization items for the home as well as cute stationary. If you're able to go in store I highly recommend going, its like an adult toy store.

This might be a bit of a niche review, but I swear by Muji’s giant lint roller. I have two fluffy dogs that make wearing black nearly impossible because i’m always covered in hair - but their oversized lint roller has been a life saver in my household. It’s everything you could want in a lint roller: Perfectly sticky sheets, that never tear weird, and somehow always get the very last bit of lint or hair.
some of the BEST stationery out there. The pens are amazing, last forever, write beautifully. I especially love the smaller points! not to mention the aesthetic is lovely.

They have a relaxing aesthetic that makes every store visit a pleasant experience. Their cotton puffs are the best for make-up removal. They also sell nice Japanese instant soups and food products.
Who doesn't love shopping at Muji... so fun and the quality of their home goods are great for the price. Their office supplies are so fun and great quality as well.
great quality but suuuper pricey in north america. stock up if you ever vacation in asia! stationary is minimalist and cute, have been using the same ballpen with refills since middle school (until I lost it last year) snacks are good too but not as worth it.

Muji is awesome they’re super affordable and all the stuff feels like luxury products
As a New Yorker I grew up with Muji, and now that I live farrrr away from any of their stores I've become a Muji evangelist. I loan out Muji pens left and right to convert people to being fans of my absolute favorite pens (of all sizes!). Their notebooks make up the fabric of my grad student life; I love the more customizable options as well as the standard sets of 5. Truly nothing in the stationary section has ever failed to delight me. Someday I will own their incredible beanbag chair (a loyal fan after many long sits taken in a store). The household goods I've tried have also been useful, but it's the office section of my daily life where they really shine. When I heard in 2020 that the brand had declared bankruptcy I had a day of mourning and then went IMMEDIATELY to the nearest store to stock up--I don't know what I'd do without them and them bouncing back was HUGE for me, so grateful for this brand.

It's been a while since my last purchase, yet the clothing I've acquired from here continues to be a staple in my wardrobe. This is a true testament to their enduring durability and timeless aestetic. To me, Muji is like the offspring of Ikea and Gap having had a romantic fling in Japan.
I just love all the Mujj products. I like their minimalist and simple look.
Long-term Muji fan here. I think of MUJI as IKEA like products, but less trendy and generally higher quality. Standout MUJI products for me over the long term are the plastic storage containers (odd right?), right-angle socks, and bone china dish-ware which I’m ashamed to admit we use to feed out pets. I wish Muji clothes fit me. But as a tall, generously endowed woman, they just don’t work. Same for my slim but tall husband. Sadness. Every night my glasses slide into a slim plastic Muji container that my cats will inevitably knock off the nightstand by morning. Someday I’ll get Lasix or a nightstand with a drawer—or better behaved cats. Until then it’s Muji to the rescue. It’s the little things the matter.
Brilliant, thoughtful and well-engineered household goods and clothes: I'd feel safe ordering anything sight-unseen. In terms of household goods, Muji is like a very sophisticated Container Store, although its stock and assortment tends to be a little more unpredictable: if you see something small, unique and interesting, grab a few, because it may not be around for long. Very neutral palette and range of materials (aluminum, wood, rattan, white or clear plastic. Clothes and accessories are good quality and value, but cuts tend to be extremely simple and designed for universality (elastic waistbands, roomy fits) rather than reaching for more tailored silhouettes: completely justified given the price range. Spiral notebooks and black gel pens are stealth MVPs!
I find Muji's things to be very high quality. I love their cork trivets. They're huge.
