Reviews mention

  • Plush heavyweight fleece materials
  • Creative high-profile brand collaborations
  • Distinctive, stylish design language
  • Mission-driven mental health ethos
  • Inconsistent garment durability issues
  • Occasionally awkward cinched-waist fit
  • Unpredictable unisex sizing proportions
  • Non-technical outerwear performance limitations

Madhappy earns polarized reviews: many praise the hoodies’ thick, cozy materials, unique collaborations (Space Jam, Mr. Chow, Columbia, GAP), flattering fits like the New York Optimism and Buddy blue hoodies, and a mission rooted in mental health, while others report garments unraveling at seams, color fading, awkward cinched waists, inconsistent sizing, and disappointing outerwear durability. The brand is admired for design and comfort but criticized for quality control and rigid, slow support policies, making it compelling for collab-driven, soft heavyweight sweats yet risky for buyers sensitive to durability and aftercare issues.

  • Madhappy does the best collabs. I love my Madhappy x Columbia puffer. I was a little nervous that it wouldn't be worth the price, but it absolutely was. Stylish and warm and SO many pockets (6 total). Sometimes the sizing can be a little tricky since a lot of the items are unisex. I probably would have sized down to an XS (instead of a small) but I don't mind it being oversized.

  • Extremely disappointed with the quality of Madhappy garments, especially considering the exorbitant prices. We purchased a couple hoodies, and the some of them are coming apart at the exact same pocket seam after standard and actually seldom usage; that is clearly a manufacturing defect or plain poor craftsmanship, not a coincidence. To make matters worse, the color fades significantly after washing. When I reached out to have these defective items rectified, customer service was futile and only offered a 10% discount on a new purchase. We like to support up and coming fashion brands especially those with an avant-garde vibe but given the lack of care and post purchase support we'll never buy from them again. It is no surprise to see that if you look up their physical store in NY or Miami on google they are labeled "permanently closed".

  • My oldest son likes this brands sweatshirts; he has multiple. However: 1) they do not wash well - don’t hold shape and fabric inside piles and has a rough texture. 2) Extremely slow shipping, so order well in advance of when you want it if it’s for a gift. It’s going to take 2-3 weeks to receive your order. 3) Exchange process for damaged goods is the worst process I’ve experienced with any company. Once they confirm receipt it takes them 1-2 weeks to look at the return before they start to process the exchange, which means that if you bought it as a gift you need to order months ahead of time. Given your initial order takes 2-3 weeks to receive, return takes 2-3 weeks (with transit) to review, replacement 2-3 weeks, which puts you at 6-9 weeks to get a non-damaged product.

  • I bought my first Madhappy sweatshirt in 2017 and have been following and purchasing occasionally from the brand since then. While at the time, $150 for a sweatshirt was a bit steep, this seems to be the norm these days + their clothing is really high quality and branding/mission is thoughtful, so feels reasonable in that sense. Love that they've expanded into other product categories over the years + built out a mental health platform & blog.

Probably should note that some items sell out pretty quickly, but understand that's part of the hype

  • Like an idiot I washed and dried my sweatshirt, so that's definitely my fault. I really like the designs and it's super comfortable. I wish I hadn't done that because it's kind of cropped now and it's not the look I was going for.

  • One of my favorite brands I discovered this past year. I love the mission of the brand and also love their collaborations (highlighting the lakers collab).

My last order was delayed a few times but their customer support team was great in getting back to me on how long it would take to ship.

  • hands down one of my favorite apparel brands. the product quality is insane and the design are always 10/10. the brand is one of my favorites to follow - not only for the product drops but the community they’ve built around mental health advocacy is amazing. 100% worth the money!

  • My order tracking shows the order has been in Kelowna (7 hours from me) for more than 4 weeks. Attempted delivery didn’t happen from 7 hours away. Mad Happy tells ‘you he order has been fulfilled’ Terrible customer service. Now I have to call Visa and have my money refunded. Over priced and awful service.

  • Shipping was quick, honestly overall disappointed in hoodie. Drew House hoodies run circles around these in quality, and cost less. Some of the stitching on the hoodie is quite tacky I’d price this hoodie at $49, tops.

So, I am a collector of this kind of stuff, I plan on keeping it, because it is dope, truth be told though though, not worth the price. Maybe I should have gotten a zip up.

  • Their products are the highest of quality & they have some of the best customer service I have dealt with.

It seems like some of their collections fall flat because they are too basic. I'd love to see more partnerships with designers & brands.

  • My favorite brand of all time! Every single garment or accessory I have ever gotten exceeds expectations. The materials are just incredible and the designs + the mission of The Local Optimist is incredible.

  • I have a zip up hoodie from their collab with the Gap that I love to wear. It's technically my boyfriend's, he bought a size medium; fits him perfectly and fits me perfectly oversized. It's cozy and well-made. I want to purchase more hoodies from them, everything I see them release on their instagram is absolutely gorgeous. I'm just waiting on the right time.

  • Madhappy is super comfy! The pieces are soft, relaxed, and perfect for everyday wear. I love how they combine style with comfort, making them a go-to for both lounging and looking good. Plus, the positive vibes behind the brand are a huge bonus!

  • I think that MadHappy has done such a great job with marketing, collaborations, and customer assistance. I have quite a few items, and they’re all super high quality, but I wish they were all softer.

  • Best sweatshirt brand. If I go somewhere new, I always get complements on it 2-3 times. My friends are all buying one now because of me. I'm ironicaly wearing them right now, and I've worn my pieces every day so far this week.

Worth the price point in purchasing. Something that will stay in your closet forever, and is discreet enough to not be gaudy flashy like other brands, so it hasn't gone out of style for the several years that I have worn my sweatshirt!

  • I have a sweatshirt from Madhappy that was created in collaboration with Joe Holder. I like the weight and construction of the hoodie, and the materials feel high quality.

I don't love the weird stitching on the hood, but I guess that's their "thing."

  • Probably my favorite apparel brand (I know this isn't a very novel opinion these days). Fantastic quality, great fit and represents a mission that is near and dear to my heart. Cheers to the guys behind the brand for building something so great.

  • I was SO excited for the winter collection and bought the ski jacket with cloud print. This was pricey but I was excited because it's a unique print and ski jackets are usually pricey. Unfortunately, I'm really disappointed in the quality. As soon as it arrived, the jacket had a lot of fraying fibers and it DEFINITELY is not a jacket that I wanted to ski in. So, I just spent a lot of money on a very pretty jacket that's just a puffy jacket. It's pretty warm but it's not a down jacket or water resistant - definitely not worth the price I paid and unfortunately couldn't return it since it was a limited edition collection.
