  • Consistently fitting jeans selection
  • Durable, easy-care wardrobe basics
  • Well-crafted leather belts and bags
  • Multiple inseam and petite options
  • Hit-or-miss non-denim quality
  • Underwhelming, delicate jewelry pieces
  • Occasional confusing sizing system
  • Squeaky leather flats issue

Madewell earns strong reviews as a reliable source for well‑made jeans and durable basics, with many praising consistent fits (including petite and multiple lengths), easy‑care fabrics, and long‑lasting wardrobe staples. Reviews also flag weaknesses—hit‑or‑miss quality in non‑denim categories (especially jewelry and some basics), occasional awkward sizing, and even squeaky leather flats—making the brand effective for denim and leather accessories but less consistent elsewhere.

  • Madewell is solid for basics. I just bought the triple metal keeper leather belt. I was hoping it would be a bit wider, but I really like the quality - it truly beats out the quality of some of my designer belts (that rhyme with “Rottega Reneta”). I think it’s a great place to buy well-made (no pun intended) handbags and belts.

  • loving the latest pieces madewell has been putting out, from their leather and suede bags to shirts and dresses, balancing quality and price. their jeans have always been a favorite, stretchy yet fitting just right. looking forward to what's next for spring.

  • Madewell lives up to the name. Most everything I’ve gotten from there is made well. I’m careful to check fabric content prior to purchase, but this is a great spot for nice (boring) basics. You aren’t going to blow anyone away with your style prowess, but I’ve never been disappointed. My only complaint is that the shoes fart when you walk, but I’ve found a lot of leather flats do until they soften up.

  • Honestly, most of my wardrobe is from Madewell, especially my jeans. It’s one of the only places where I can consistently find pants that actually fit me well—especially since I need petite sizing. I can always count on them for elevated basics and pieces that really last. I’ve only ever had one pair of jeans develop a hole a few months after buying them, and when I brought them into the store, they took them back with no questions asked and sent me a new pair. Such great customer service. I also have a whole drawer full of their t-shirts that I’ve worn for many seasons and countless washes, and they still look great. Definitely a go-to brand for me.

  • I find the quality of Madewell clothes to be quite good. Having said that they are not the cheapest brand around and some thing feels alittle over priced. I like that they do pants in different lengths.

  • LOVE the jeans! These are REAL jeans, made with traditional denim – not the stretchy or thin stuff you typically get these days. They also weren't cropped, which is becoming harder and harder to find. (Why are all women's pants cut so short these days?) This was my first denim purchase from Madewell, and I was a little thrown off by the sizing. Note that the number does not equal the waist measurement, so be sure to check the sizing chart. Just in case, I bought two pairs. They were on MAJOR sale (thus Final Sale, unreturnable), but I felt like it was ok since the price was so great and they were a normal inseam length... had to have. They fit like a dream and feel great! I will try to sell the other unworn pair. The shirt is a bit of a different story – not a fan. The body is tight and form fitting (not me) and the sleeves are so puffy (not me). So that too will be sold. All in all, totally worth it for a GREAT pair of jeans!

  • While their clothing can be a bit pricey, they have great sales and I find their quality to be great for shoes and clothing! Their jewelry isn't as great quality for the price but everything else is worth it!

  • I really love their collection this year. I have purchased several clothing and accessory items over the years and they hold up well and are easy to pack, wash, and style. Great basics

  • I like the jeans from MW, but I’m not overly impressed with their other clothe . I do not find them an innovative company.

  • high quality embroidered jeans - always get compliments on them

  • I love Madewell!! Especially if you can catch a sale. Overall, they're my tried and true favorite when it comes to jeans that will fit, are stylish, and that will last.

  • My go-to for jeans, a solid pick for sweaters, but kind of hit-or-miss in their other categories. I find that their basics break down pretty quickly (i.e., cotton turtlenecks becoming see-through or getting holes). But high rating is because I love their jeans so much. I appreciate also that you can bring your old jeans to them to repurpose into housing insulation.

Has sales frequently, and will send you discounts for your birthday.

  • Consistent quality. Overpriced typically for my budget, but usually has quality to match. Pants are super comfortable. May need to size up.

  • Expensive but worth it if you can find your right size! The sales people in person are really helpful and can tell right away if you're wearing the wrong jean size (which spoiler alert: most of us are!). I waited until there was a sale and got a few different pants in my correct size and they fit so much better (not need for a belt to hold up my jeans even!). If they're a bit snug at first, that's a good thing! they will stretch out a smidge so they'll fit better. Would recommend!

  • this is my favorite brand for clothing. They have amazing cloths that fit my style and personality. I also believe their quality is pretty good too. They have amazing clothes I also believe possibly.

  • I really enjoy madewell clothing, but their pricing and quality don’t always match. It’s kinda hit or miss which I don’t love but could be considered the same with most brands. Is it my go-to? No. But do they have some great stuff? Yeah.
