Hello Fresh draws mixed reviews: the brand delivers easy-to-follow, tasty recipes that help beginners cook and add variety, but recurring complaints cite small portions, repetitive menus, and frequent quality lapses like wilted produce, spoiled items, or missing ingredients. Reviews of Hello Fresh also note heavy packaging and occasional long prep times, making it convenient when it works but inconsistent enough that some users cancel despite appreciating the app and recipe library.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
Consistent, tried several competitors as well, enjoyed these recipes best. Would recommend for someone on a tight schedule.

Great meal options

Wayyy too much packaging!
Hello Fresh was an absolute lifesaver for me during my college days (at first!) - navigating the world of cooking without my mom was hard, but it really instilled the basics step-by-step in a way that anyone could follow. The variety of meals introduced me to flavors I wouldn't have explored on my own, expanding my palate and cooking skills AND providing some nutrition here and there. The one drawback I encountered was the portion size – the servings were ample, which would have been fantastic if not for the limited space and the need to share a fridge with a roommate. Managing the surplus ingredients became a bit tricky, but overall, Hello Fresh is a fantastic option for solo chefs or those with more kitchen real estate.
We used hello fresh for several years now. Meals are always tasty. Price is good. Sometimes they send stuff I didn’t select.

They do offer decent meals, but I found that their website was a bit misleading. I ultimately had a horrible experience with their customer service that ended with me needing to dispute with my credit card. I found their flavors/recipes to be a little repetitive. If you get a good deal, and are super on top of their wording, then it can be worth it. And I do think this can help someone who hates cooking, but wants to try. Other than that, I'd stay away, and find some recipes online.
Tried Hello Fresh for a few months and while I love the diversity of all the meals that are provided I do not think it is worth the price. You only get enough for one meal where as with most dinners I usually have leftovers. I also had experienced on several occasions where the produce was rotten and I still had to run to the grocery store in order to replace that ingredient.

Saves me from cooking crazy recipes and helps eating healthier dishes!
Out of all the meal subscriptions we've tried, Hello Fresh is definitely the freshest. They consistently provide prepped ingredients that aren't damaged or starting to go bad. The variety of recipes are great as well. It has been a few years since we've stopped our subscription, but I remember they had quite a bit of one time use packaging - hopefully that has changed now or they have found alternatives to their plastic use. Portions are decent and follow government guidelines but because we're a bit more active we tend to supplement these meals with a bit of extra to feel fuller after.
I've used them a few times the first time was great but the options aren't mine or my familys favorite
I enjoyed the meals we received and they were all delicious! Easy to choose meals and soup when needed.
My wife and I have ordered from Hello Fresh a few times. The meals are good. Sometimes they take a bit to cook. Directions are easy and it's nice not having to shop for all the ingredients. But it is pricey.

I like Hello Fresh a lot. It is reliable, offers variety, and yummy! I would say 95% of the fresh ingredients come fresh and only a few times have I not been able to use something. I'm not a picky eater so even if I forget to choose one week I usually like the prechosen meals for me. The app is also super easy to use and navigate. I give it 3 because I haven't used many other delivery meal services like this so I don't know where it stands but also wouldn't say this is the best, you know its okay.

The food is definitely tasty and fresh but really for the price I’d rather go shopping myself. I love cooking and don’t afraid of trying new recipes. I think this would make sense for someone who likes cooking but too busy for work.

It cost just as much as buying a month of groceries and I only get enough for a week, top it off with that fact that your just really buying dinner. No breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks. For the price I got ( I even got a discounted one from a friend) was still too much, for me NOT ACTUALLY having REAL groceries. Also they deliver with fedex, who delayed my order by 2 days, which isn’t good when you spend almost 80 plus shipping on just a weeks worth of dinner. What a waste of my time and money, and this wouldn’t make me upset if the company didn’t advertise themselves as a “ grocery shopping replacement “ because I can assure you,it is not.
This places good is amazing!
I thought the recipes were easily to follow and tasted good. You could also customize it to your liking.

The meals were tiny and only could serve like 2 people definitely not 4.

I know others that like this meal kit, but for us, it wasn't as good as many of the other meal kits we've tried. The mix of value, ingredients and recipes was just okay.
Hello fresh was the first meal kit I ever tried. Was a big fan at first. Love the convenience of it, customer service was great. But as time went on the meals started to be mostly repeats, nothing new and foods just stopped catching my attention. Not very family friendly either if you have a picky eater. But the food was good and I never had problems.
I work for HelloFresh, but I also eat HelloFresh. The products are fresh and the chefs really work hard to create the best tasting meals. One of my male friends used HelloFresh to learn how to cook. It gave him a new skill and tons of confidence in the kitchen.
As a beginner cook I used Hello Fresh for about 2 years before finally ending my subscription. I kept the recipes I enjoyed for future inspiration but decided the quality of food was becoming hard to work with. There were times when I'd receive a box with ingredients I had to toss because a package was leaking or produce was already spoiled. Customer service consistently offered discounts but since it became a normal issue I decided it was not worth continuing.
