  • Wi‑fi-dependent core functionality
  • Limited free sound library

Hatch earns strong reviews for genuinely improving sleep routines with gentle sunrise alarms, soothing white/brown noise, and kid-friendly light cues, but app glitches, Wi‑Fi dependence, and paywalled content frustrate users. Reviews of Hatch highlight sleek, minimalist design and reliable nightly use across years and households, while noting intermittent audio dropouts, limited free sounds, and finicky tap controls—making it effective yet imperfect.

  • We got the Hatch Rest for my baby and have been using it daily since day 1. Honestly, I could have gone with a different brand. The app isn't very user friendly, took some time to figure out (while sleep deprived) and a lot of the cooler features are subscription based.

  • In my opinion overhyped, got this in the newborn haze and was confused into getting the subscription (which we did not use). It’s fine, but the travel version is almost better. Don’t bother with the subscription!!!!

  • I have only had my hatch alarm for about a month and I am so in love with it. I love the routine feature that lets you create morning/night routines that you can customize for each day. It has really helped my sleeping habits!

  • While creating my baby registry I added the Hatch Rest light because I was excited for all it's features, like the glowing ambient light, sounds, time, and app. While the product is solid and we use it everyday—actually 24-7. I feel like the app is clunky and not super user-friendly, even a bit too complex. However, the light is perfect and customizable and is great for providing enough visibility to see during diaper changes, plus the clock display is super handy as my husband and I log every feed for our newborn. I've heard from other parents that a great use and feature for this light is when kids are old enough to tell colors (green and red) and they can set the clock to emit a light to let the child know when it's wake-up time and when it's still time to sleep, rest, wait for parents to come to start the day. I'm excited to use it for those reasons down the line.

  • Hatch offers some great products for sleep and relaxation, like their sound machines and night lights. However, I find some of the items to be a bit overpriced for what they provide. The functionality is good, but there are cheaper alternatives that work similarly. Overall, decent but not a must-have.

  • I love my Hatch Restore 2, it reallyyyyy helps me relax and wind-down. The sound library is really amazing, there are a ton of sounds to choose from and the colour ways are very customizable. The perfect bedside tool for someone who needs and values a good night sleep!

  • I got a Hatch a few weeks ago and I like it but it is a bit buggy. It doesn’t always turn the light on or do the right volume so it needs to be reset. I like the soft wake up and wind down but I wish it was a bit more of a cleaner user experience.

  • This product has sooo much potential. I'll start with what I love: red light at night plus soothing background noise such as light rain. (Once I'm actually ready to shut my eyes I turn the light all the way down but keep the white noise). In the AM, it's amazing to wake up to the "natural" sunlight paired with chirping birds (since I sleep with blackout blinds). That said, the app is SO finicky & continuously logs the actual device offline, leading to frustration/bad UX. The device itself I would give 5 stars if it weren't so reliant on the app.

The app/device/wifi communication could use some serious improvement. I basically can't use 95% of the features because I've gotten so frustrated with having to reset it all the time, etc. I'd love to see less reliance on the app + more flexibility with the app. Eg: what if I want to listen to a meditation one day without going through setting up a whole routine? The "routines" idea is fun/unique but it feels limiting at the moment. Also, what if I wanted to play my favorite nighttime playlist on Spotify? Not possible. I get what they're trying to do with the recurring subscription revenue but I think that should come later once everyone falls in love with the device first (and once the app is more developed). Would also love to see a version that doesn't need to remain plugged in at all times.

  • Our family has been using Hatch for over 2 years now and we love the convenience of the product, the app and traveling with the device. The sound options are great as well as all the color options. We currently live in a small townhouse so it has been a lifesaver for nap time!!

Ease of use, goes well with any decor, well worth the money!

  • This alarm clock has CHANGED the game for me. I wake up feeling so refreshed. It's completely customizable to the routine you want to have, and I love sleeping with the white noise feature. While i wish I could use it just as a normal speaker sometimes, I do think having it just be an alarm helps me curate my bedroom to be just for sleep and to limit my phone time. I love it!

  • I cannot share enough about how happy this product makes me! Helps me start my morning routine on a positive note, no stressful alarm sounds, a bedtime routine — you name it! I love it!

  • This was on our top 5 for our baby registry and rightfully so. It is a life saver. This helped our son sleep as an infant and helped us sleep train him as a toddler. It made him for comfortable in his own room and bed. It’s easy to set up and turn on/off. We can adjust the brightness and the sound when ever we need and my fiancé can also access it on his phone too. Definitely worth it.

I wish there was an option for the one we have to play our own music.

  • My partner is a notorious snorer, and I had been using my phone for white noise at night, but it just wasn't cutting it. I tried the Hatch Restore 2, and it does a much better job of projecting noise than the phone. I also really enjoy the sunrise alarm feature. It gradually wakes me up, unlike the harsh alarms from my phone. My only issue was the price, but ultimately, I believe it was money well spent.

  • I purchased my first hatch “baby” machine when my daughter was born 3 years ago and we are still using it nightly for reading, ambient light & sleep sounds. I absolutely LOVE our hatch baby.

This brand is an overall great quality brand. The products are sturdy, user friendly & high tech with mobile apps for seamless control of the devices using wifi/Bluetooth technology. Highly recommend especially if using as a parent for sleep training children.

  • We got the hatch rest sound machine for our baby and it has been a staple. I love how it can be used with or without the app, its easy to turn on and off, and its a constant for my child's sleep routine. We have tried other sound machines but this one has been absolutely worth the price.

It would be cool if it was chargeable, so that for travel it wouldn't necessarily need to be plugged in.

  • We bought this product six years ago when the twins arrived. And we loved it! We used it everyday for almost five years. We like the fact you can control the volume, brightness, and timer on the app from our phones. We would take it with us when we traveled with the kids. It’s a great product. Would definitely recommend.

We’ve had it for six years and the piece that plugs into the Hatch could use an upgrade. But other than that it has been great.

  • We have 3 hatches for our children and are sold on staying with the brand! Our only request to make the product better would be to create a widget for iphones for easier control over the hatch rest and rest+. The app could also be simplified with a homepage or landing page for quick access.

  • As a new mom I read all the must have lists for a new baby. Put this on my registry. I can’t see the cost of the subscription being worth it. I use it everyday as a red light with a dryer sound, but I could have spent a lot less for something else that does the same thing. Tapping it on is also very temperamental.

  • I use this for my toddler who now wakes up every morning saying "mr. bright green can you turn on please?"! We had a big issue with him getting up at the crack of dawn, so this has been a lifesaver.

    Feedback

I wish they had smaller versions as the size is a little unnecessary.

  • Still getting used to it so maybe my review will change. I don’t love the cue to go to bed. I do like that am wake up is a lot less jarring than your typical phone alarm. The lighting settings are a great feature.
