Gap earns largely positive reviews as a dependable source for basics that fit well and endure, with standouts in denim, cotton tees, kids’ clothing, and cozy hoodies—yet reviews also flag inconsistent quality, generic fits, heavy logo branding, and style that skews safe. Reviews on Gap highlight strong fabrics (100% cotton, durable denim, warm outerwear) and petite-friendly sizing, while calling out pieces that pill (CashSoft), confusing or generous sizing, and designs that can feel uninspired.

Gap is a fantastic go to for most mens basics. I’ve been a long.time buyer of shirts, pants, sweaters, sweatshirts, socks and underwear. Great quality, great selection of attractive colors and patterns. Sizing is for a ‘normal’ person and the sizing is consistent- which saves time and angst. When I’m shopping, Gap is always a part of my search.
No complaints about the quality, just wish the brand had more ethical practices.
Great high quality products, especially their basics! Some prices are up there but I do think they are worth it
Denim never denigrates, I have a jean jacket that's a hand-me-down for 25 years, and holds up nicely.

Classic elevated basics :)

Every so often I hit the jackpot with GAP. Their longer inseam offerings can be quite good and sometimes they have really soft cotton pjs.
I love the gap. I just wish they had more sustainable styles and more clothing recycling boxes in stores.
Gap has made its come back. For awhile, people treated it like an Old Navy back when it didn't seem cool. Gap is now, IMO, the smartest of retailers and has stellar steals/deals throughout the year to ensure you get the bang for your buck. I spent $400+ around Christmas and loved every single piece I purchased - particularly within their cashmere line. It's top-notch quality, so cute and the perfect workwear.

Gap used to be, in my mind, closer to luxury than not - to be fair, Gap wasn't particularly accessible in the hood, haha. That...has changed. Seems pretty clear that they use similar material and manufacturing as Old Navy - which is fine, except the jump between Gap and Banana Republic is pretty palpable now. Stick to Banana Republic or BR Outlet
Their tee shirts are quality-however their jean sizes are really confusing to understand.

Got many pieces from Gap like denim shorts, floral dresses, T-shirts and Christmas gifts!!!

Not the way they use to make clothes and the sales aren’t as good as they used to be either!
While Gap was a staple for me many years back, I feel like the market for similar style/price point of clothes is oversaturated and I don't really see a reason to shop here anymore.

I like this brand for their classic styles and tried and true basics like their jeans, t-shirts, and career basics. The material is good quality and durable. Their clothes are great foundational pieces in a wardrobe and can styles in many ways.
I have worn Gap since my childhood and now my kids are wearing Gap too. I love their chic and minimalistic pieces that make me look casual but put together. Their clothes are very nice quality, you can especially tell with the baby clothes that is still going strong after many washes, while the other brands are starting to show their wear. I will continue to wear Gap and enjoy their apparel.
Why are you guys including legacy brands? Again, people turn to Thingtesting for new and innovative brands not legacy brands that are innovating at the speed of dinosaurs. If I wanted that I would go to consumer reports or somewhere else.
Gap is such a classic. Most of their clothes are 100% cotton, making them super durable. I have multiple sweaters and they are so thick, comfy, and sturdy. Unfortunately, their cash-soft line is super cute in theory, but it pills and pulls apart really easily, even with care.
If you are careful, they have some great products like 100 percent cotton jeans and sweaters. I have take care of several items and they have lasted years.
love this brand !
I don’t care what anyone says, I love Gap. Great basics and long lasting options that are timeless and perfect for everyday wear. Great sales, coupons, customer service, easy shipping and returns, and also great credit card incentives if you choose to get it. The best part for me, however, is their petite collection. As a 5’ woman, it’s hard to find great petite options and Gap has it all for me.
