Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.

I am obsessed. This is pretty pricey for what it is but the flavor is incredible. It's color is intimidating but its a mild-medium spice. I grew up in an asian household and this is a modern twist on the same chili oil we used in dishes.

I appreciate the fact that the chili crisp is flavorful without being too too spicy. I like to add it to noodles and fried rice for an extra kick. That being said, I think the price is quite high for a 6 oz bottle so I try to use it sparingly (though a little goes a long way).
I've been hearing about this for so long and I was so excited to get to finally try it! I have had a lot of different chili crisps and this is by far one of the best I've had. It's super delicious, I especially like it on pizza, on dumplings, and on eggs. The little kick that it has is delightful!
I’ve tried both their Sichuan Chili Crisp and their Mala Spice Mix. Both are great additions to any kitchen! The Chili Crisp is reminiscent of the Trader Joe’s classic but with more heat and umami flavor - we used it all up REAL quick. It makes a great addition to dumplings. The Spice Mix is soooo good with chicken fried rice or ramen.
not my favorite. wasn't as impressed as i thought i would be. didn't care for biting into the hard "crisps" but perhaps thats a personal thing. i'd pass on these
I am a big chili oil / chili crisp fan, and was excited to try the sichuan chili crisp through the thingtesting tester program! It’s very good - I’ve had it over eggs and noodles and it pairs well with both! I love that the crispies aren’t hard and the addition of black beans. It has a kick but not enough for it to be too spicy - just enough to make your sinuses flow a bit ◡̈

Great taste! Packaging was terrible though (cap doesn't fit/close).

Delicious!!! Versatile, and a great way to level up so many meals. Packaging-wise I would definitely recommend! I like to store it in another bag because the oil from inside the lid tends to get everywhere.
I use this on my salmon and brussels sprouts!! Love it.
So tasty

I love this chili crisp! It is not overly spicy and instantly makes any meal more flavorful. The tingly peppercorns make these chili crisps different from others I've tried.

I absolutely love the chili crisp and zhong sauce. I used them both in everything. I’ve also tried the mala spice mix. It’s a little harder to use but adds umami to dishes

I've only tried their chili crisp but it's so delicious on its own or added to a sauce. Even though it's a little pricer than other chili crisps a jar does last me a while.
incredible! i end up putting this on everything. the perfect amount of spice most people could enjoy.

It’s delicious but in my experience it is extremely hot. I tolerate moderate spice but for me one or two drops is more than enough. Other than that the flavor is delicious and tasteful. If you can tolerate some hotness, this is a great option.
Love the flavors. The really add that something extra to all my meals. Excellent on frozen dumplings.

It's pretty hard to find a chili oil that has that specific Sichuan flavor profile. First time I ate this chili oil it took me back to my grandma's house in Sichuan. I wasn't expecting at all how delicious it was. It's definitely more of a soft/smooth chili oil, not as much crunch/garlicky flavor compared to other brands like momofuku but I like that. Overall love.
Loooove Fly by Jing! I love the texture: it has the texture runny enough to drizzle over everything, so you can taste the crisp chili in every bite. The spice level is decent, although I can always go for more spicy. Must try!
It was okay - honestly didn't live up to the hype I've seen or heard about it. For a chili sauce, it was underwhelming and surprisingly flavorless. Feel like it could use more a punch.
All of their sauces are amazing. I need to try the vinaigrette and dumplings next!
