Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.

I love Fly by Jing! My family makes a lot of Asian food and specifically Korean. Specifically when we make Hot Pot, everyone adds Fly By Jing to their mix. Great flavor and also if you're a college student or someone who isn't too experienced in cooking, it's a really easy way to add flavor to simple meals like chicken and rice or soup.
Love this spicy crispy crunchy umami rich sauce! I also love that there’s enough oil that I can just put the oil on certain foods sometimes as well. Other chili crisp sauces often don’t have enough oil!

This perfectly balanced, crunchy, chili sauce has become a regularly replenished kitchen staple for me. Five stars, You know something is worth the hype when Trader Joe’s creates some bootleg version of it.
I love fly by jing! Beyond their branding being amazing, they make some super cool products that make recipes even more delicious!!!
Sooo good. Amazing on so many things. Only downside is it's a little bit steep in price and you'll be wanting to get it all the time!

Not as much flavor as other chili crisps and sauces, but very nice for mild spice lovers :)
High quality ingredients. Reminds me of the chili oil that you could only get at your favorite restaurant. I love Fly By Jing's thoughtful line expansion and experimenting with different dishes I can top with the chili crisp - next stop: ice cream.

It’s good chili crisp, but I think a bit overhyped. You can get great sichuan chili crisp at a local market for a fraction of the price.
All of their sauces are so good. Classic zhong is a favorite, but they really don't miss.
This is definitely not your average chili house. I thought the flavor was more than just hot and crunchy like the Trader Joe’s chili oil. However, I’m not sure if it’s worth the $10 I paid.

I. Am. Addicted. I swear I go through one jar a month. Fly By Jing has perfected their recipe -- it has just the right amount of kick and flavor. I literally recommend it to everyone.
I am a lover of hot crispy oils/sauces/condiments and I have a trio of Fly By Jing jars in my kitchen cabinet, and I never reach for them. There are others that are better and I will probably toss these since they won't get used.
Purchased the Sichuan Chili Crisp version in Whole Foods and was reimbursed by ThingTesting. It is on the spicier end with bits of dried shrimp and crispy bits inside, and stirring is recommended before serving. Price is hard to stomach (I think it was $11 for a 6oz jar?), and if you have access to Lao Gan Ma then this is definitely pricier for not much more of a "premium" taste. Great quality though, very umami, too pricey for me to buy on an ongoing basis.

I enjoyed this chili oil. I am not normally a fan of flavoured oils, so while this is definitely on the more oily, viscous side, it adds a robust punch with just a tiny bit to any dish. I also really enjoyed the texture of chili flakes and the variety of beans.
I'm a huge fan of this product and have been buying it for a while. I like it better than the laoganma spicy chili crisp for the depth of flavor and seemingly higher quality inputs. While I'm totally a sinophile in many things, I do have some concerns with food safety and adulteration. Fly by Jing seems like a much higher quality product and I appreciate them. I usually put it on fried eggs or rice + vegetables to make them more interesting. But this morning I put it on a bagel with smoked salmon and onion cream cheese. It really improved the bagel.

tastes so good but the pepercorns become very soggy very quickly. definitely loses the crunch factor.
Who knew that chili crisp would change my life? Any bland meal gets a boost of flavor from it - scrambled eggs, fried rice, dumplings. It's delicious and goes a long way - now a staple in my fridge.
