Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.

Love this chili crisp! It has a nice smoky flavor but is well balanced with the spice and overall umami flavor. It's also not too spicy for those who are worried about the spice level. Plus, the texture is provides a great little crunch to it. Can't recommend this enough! I have gut sensitivity to garlic and onions but don't care because the flavor and texture of this makes it worth it.

Starting to see these in Costco now for those looking to get a larger jar.
I think the chili crisp is not what I expected, but I still enjoy it. More black-bean-flavor-forward, and doesn't have that numbing tingly sensation that I've come to love in sichuan flavors. The jar is mostly oil, with chili crisp constituting less than half the jar. I use the oil for cooking and it adds some nice flavor! The chili crisp goes on anything and everything for me: toasts, meats, veggies, etc. Note: I purchased mine at Costco.

Jar was extremely difficult to open.
While I know that there are other brands and I could in theory make this myslef. I have gone through at least 5 jars of this. The flavors are fantastic and I have some amount of this nearly everyday. This makes a great gift and is excellent quality. The glass jars are easily reusable and I have used them for dressings and plants.
Got the 3 sauce sampler, and it was yummy. This is great chili crisp at it's core. I also liked the branding and the unboxing.

Very cute, maybe a different packaging because of the nature of the oil, it always had an oil ring at the bottom.
This jar of goodness is one my best discoveries. Add to anything to make your dish elevated and just that more flavorable! When I have nothing to eat, I’ll make some white rice and drizzle some chili oil over it. So delicious and happy to have a healthier alternative finally
Love their products. The zhong sauce goes well on sooo much. It’s super well balanced and adds spice, salt, and sweetness. We also love the mala spice mix! We’ve done entire roast chickens and wings tossed in the mala mix and they’re SOOO good. Highly highly recommend!

Great products!
Fly By Jing’s chili oil sauce is so good. It’s spicy, tangy and delicious!
The zhong sauce and chili crisp are now staples in my household! A bit pricey however.
I bought the classic three-pack (Zhong, Chili Crisp, and Mala Seasoning). To be clear, it was all delicious. The only one I'd buy again, however, is the Mala powder. It's not for lack of quality, it's about the price. I just used too much of the sauces at once to justify repeat purchases. Lao Gan Ma is just so much more affordable for my usage. I don't necessarily knock the high price here; it's standard for all these modern chili oil brands. I just want to try them all, rather than focus on FBJ alone.

The chili crisp wasn't as spicy as I'd like, though the flavor was great — need to try to extra spicy version!

So good. The Sichuan Chili Crisp is a perfect addition to ramen, pasta, chicken, just about anything. It adds great flavor and the right amount of heat to anything you want to spice up. A little bit goes a long way. Definitely recommend!

The oil does leak easily, but that's the nature of the beast.

I love the chili crisp. It’s definitely a pantry staple. I really want to try their other products as well.

I’d love to see more organic ingredients in their products.
Being a chili-oil fanatic, I really enjoyed this one. It had a really nice, savory, flavor profile. A bit pricy for the amount, but my jar lasted me a while.

Eh, I wasn't a fan of their chili crisp. I was so excited to try it, but it's just not that great. It's also so messy, they should consider trying out a different packaging strategy.
Fly by Jing makes my favorite chili crisp. Definitely recommend!

THE FLAVOR. THE TEXTURE. THE COLOR. This sauce/dip/spice/whatever is so amazing and so universal. I am obsessed.

The jar leaks a bit and can get very oily.

Absolutely fantastic. Brings back my college memories of eating Chongqing Chicken (Sichuan La Zi Ji). Spicy, mouth numbing, delicious. Perfect on ramen, chicken, eggs. The jar is a bit small so it went fast.

Could use a touch of salt? Perhaps a bigger jar? Just being nit-picky...

Super tasty, a good spice kick and the spice rub they offer is great too.

I wish it was crunchier.
Delicious!! Great product and taste authentic. As an immigrant from Asia, I'm constantly chasing tasty products which remind me of tastes that I can find at home. This ticks all the boxes, especially the frozen dumplings and the Zhong sauce.
I use the Fly by Jing chili crisp sauce truly almost everyday. It elevates any dish that you put it on and it is one of my GO TO's when I want to add some additional flavors to my meal. I could go on and on - I LOVE them. I haven't been able to get my hands on their dumplings yet but am dying to!
Can't live without it. Their chili sauces are a great combination of umami, heat and texture. Their dumplings are also very good.
