  • Cheap blade construction
  • Flimsy handle design
  • Short blade longevity

  • I opted into Dollar Shave Club (as a woman) because of how much cheaper it was than everything in the drugstore. Their products are simple, give a close shave for the legs, and are relatively inexpensive. I am still on a backlog of razors for the next few months given I don't have to shave as much as (most) men do.

Their packaging comes with a little booklet which is cute but seems unnecessary. They are also very aggressive in their reminders to resubscribe but I guess that is their business model.

  • DSC was my intro into non-electric shaving, it's what I first used when I first started to shave with a regular blade rather than something electric. I used it through college and into my first year out. They have a good collection of products, my favorite include the deodorant wipes, the cologne, the repair serum, spa moisturizer. Similar to Harrys, the shave butter was awful. I used the 6 bladed razor and found that it wasn't as great as a shave as they claimed. Especially after going from DSC to a Supply razor. They have good products at a good price point, products I will be buying again but just not their razor or shave butter.

  • I love these razors They work so well and leave a clean shave without a lot of mess they're super easy to use

  • Was a member for years and was very pleased with all of their products but needed a change and left a couple years ago. Decided to give them another try since they changed their blades and I am amazed at the shave I get now. I've tried both the 4 and 6 blade options and for my face the 4 blades gives me the best shave. The men's fragrances are really nice also.

  • The razors are nothing special, not super great quality blades. Very wasteful single use style. Not quality ingredients in their shaving products either.

  • My husband has been shaving his head for ~20 years now so has a lot of experience with razors. He said this is the best razor he's ever used!

  • I've been using their razors for years now and love that they feel high quality, durable, and have a nice weight to them. Plus, the razor heads come in small, minimal packaging so it's easy to store the refills.

Wish they had the ability to support one-off purchases rather than only subscription.

  • The razors are fine and as someone who only shaves occasionally I'm happy with the twin blade (and I went to their manufacturer to order direct). But their other products are awesome. Their various hair creams and pomades are awesome. Shave butter is amazing. Aftershave moisturizer is the best. Good lipbalm. Great antiperspirant. Their soaps, face washes, shampoo and conditioner aren't for me but that's because I have oily hair and dry, acne prone skin.

I'm trying to buy fewer things mailed to my house (sustainability) so maybe a way to combine with other online purchases?

  • Pros: The razor sub idea was innovative when they started like a decade(?) ago. Pretty cheap compared to store brands. Cons: They (used to, if not still) just white label different razors that if you do some googling, you could find online and cut out the middleman. This is why all their blades aren't compatible with all their razors. Shave Butter was nothing special either. Neutral, I guess: Branding is very masculine. "Originally made for men" but work for women, too. They sell "ball spray." Bottom line: Meh. I switched to Billie years ago because of the much better shave and never looked back.

  • I tried the starter bundle but wasn't impressed with the products. The razors gave me too many nicks and cuts during shaving. The scrub was just okay, nothing special. The aftershave was alright as well but didn't make a huge difference post-shave.

  • The razors performed as well as the ones I purchased regularly from the dollar store. The cream and after-lotion were nice, but lotion was definitely a little oily/greasy afterwards.

  • When Dollar Shave Club first came out (over a decade now) I was all in! The blades were fantastic, the handle had a nice weight and feel to it and it was so affordable!. The blades started being less consistent when they sold out to Lever and then they changed them completely this past year or two and the blades are terrible. The shipping went from a couple of days in the beginning to a month the last couple years.

  • The razor we tried by Dollar Shave Club had nice packaging, nice handle. But the blade was not very good quality and did not shave well.

    Better quality blades

  • Honestly, they make great razors. Unfortunately, their other ancillary products like face wash and beard oil just aren't on the same level. And there is quite a bit of email and social upsell. Almost too much...

Stick to focusing on making the razor ritual easier and less on cross-selling other lower quality products.

  • Happy user since 2013 of the 6-blade razor and shave cream.

  • Meh. I can't speak to the experience of men or with facial hair, etc., of course, but for my part I wasn't terribly impressed. This is one of those 'made for men, but work for women' kind of marketing deals. Which is totally fine - and, indeed, even the extra products they sent in my sampler kit were not the least bit objectionable for use by a woman. They were actually decent, fresh, woodsy scents, and fairly solid quality products from what I could tell. I'm not complaining there. Quite the opposite. At a good price point, I wouldn't mind continuing to use the shave butter, etc. It all worked even better with a different razor to go along with it. The real problem is the razors. They're overpriced for what you get. The head popped off twice the first time I went to use it - and, seriously, that's the LAST thing you need when you can't see well at all. It seemed to go dull pretty quickly too. And, honestly, since this was during my quest to find a shave solution that even kinda worked for me without agony, I wasn't expecting miracles - or much at all, really. But, it still fell flat. The blades weren't sharp enough, or something, because they seemed to 'tug' more than 'shave' even right out of the box. I moved on to other options quite quickly.

  • Used to be a lot better. This used to be the go-to answer for all shaving needs before they were bought out. They still have a great quality product, but the point was that they were the exact same thing as gilette but cheaper. Now it might as well be the same thing. I do appreciate the other products that help others get into shaving without a disposable razor.

Bring down the price and maybe innovate more into the non-disposable space.

  • Reviewing for the basic razors. We get these frequently enough that my boyfriend and I each have a handle and we split the razor blade packs. The handle feels substantial and high quality, the blades are great. There used to be a little insert with fun puzzles but those haven't been included for the past 6+ months.
