  • I feel like the amount and quality of the items is not worth the price. I does not seem customized and unwanted samples were building up for me. It was initially fun to receive the box, but after a few years it was no longer an enjoyable experience.

  • Too expensive for what you get. I end up giving 90% of the items to my friend. I often miss the chance to customize my box so I’m stuck with crap no one wants.

  • This box is cute! I like being able to get an assortment and the boxes were always cute.

  • I was subscribed to Birchbox as a gift and I think it was a really good gift! I just think I am the kind of person who would never reach for a sample product. I am not super experimental in my beauty routine and I like to do research on my products before I buy them to make sure they are right for me. However I have tested some pretty amazing products through this service and ended up buying the full sized version. This was a great gift, and it was fun getting something new every month!

    Diversifying the brands!

  • At one point I would have considered myself to be a "makeup person," especially when I was subscribed to Birchbox. It was fun to receive a package every month with a handful of new brands and sample products to try. However, I rarely found myself actually using these products. Perfume/scent is a very personal preference (I also selected that I didn't want these, but continued to receive). How many highlighters does one need? My friends have similar experiences - you accumulate so many of these smaller sample sizes and never really use them. Often they end up in the trash.

The brand needs to think about sustainability and the planet going forward. Not sure what that will look like for them though, as their business thrives on the subscription kits.

  • 9 month subscription

Birchbox is one of the best things I’ve done for myself! I was at a point in my life that I needed care and love and something to look forward to - and it just wasn’t happening on its own - so I bought myself a Birchbox subscription. I received “presents” in the mail, from myself, once a month - and all of it was about self care. I highly recommend doing this for yourself.

  • I loved this at first, but it got quickly redundant and wasteful. Too much perfume. Too much packaging.

  • I never received anything in my Birchbox I found worth using. In fact, I felt like the box was kind of a waste of paper and plastics and felt bad getting it until I eventually canceled. I did end up giving out a lot of the samples to my younger cousins.

  • The subscription may be good for gifting and those who love trying new products, but personally not for me and only accumulates waste.

  • I tried this out several years ago when i was first getting into make up and skincare. I defiantly think back than it was worth the price. But my collection started growing i ended up cancelling it. I think if you Don't have a lot of products defiantly worth trying it out.

  • I have bought multiple boxes from Birchbox in the past and have been happy with my purchases. However there are a few things i want to address: First of all personally i believe there should be more specification on products needed for personal use, as some products would be used much less than others or on the rare occasion not at all. Apart from that minor detail it’s a brilliant brand and definitely worth the price!

  • I started receiving Birchbox subscription a few years ago as a gift and I remember I would look forward to the packages coming each month. Subscription boxes are a fun idea and I did definitely find products I would have never came across had it not been for Birchbox, but the sizings were very small and often included things I wouldn't use. I'd give away some samples to family or friends at the time so they weren't a complete waste. It's a cute gift idea for younger girls as a gift but does become a nuisance after a few months.

  • I received a subscription as a gift a year ago, and it was really fun to try out new products without having to buy it full-sized. I did find some great products that I love and will swear by, which I wouldn't have been able to try if it weren't for the Birchbox. That being said, it did send me a bunch of product I didn't need or care for, so it felt like a waste. Especially if the entire box was things I didn't need or wasn't looking for. Just left me with a ton of sample sized throw aways, which is not super sustainable. I haven't done it in a while since I didn't want to pay for it myself once the gifted subscription ended, but I would have loved to be able to pick and choose exactly the products I wanted to try. Not sure if they changed anything already, but that would have been a nice idea.

  • Underwhelming. It was one of the first subscriptions boxes but it hasn’t grown. There are just so many better options available now!

  • Quality and sizing of samples just NOT worth it. Don’t bother filling out questionnaires regarding products, colors, skin tones etc..I’m fair to light, hazel eyes and red hair. I’ve received on more than one occasion foundations and concealers suitable for a very dark complexion. I just donate but it’s frustrating. I have also received broken/open products quite a lot. I’ve cancelled my membership and don’t ever see myself going back.

  • I had great experience when I signed up for the boxes, always getting different products, really good quality brands and sometimes getting a full sized product.

  • I absolutely love the products this brought.I was subscribed for three months but then I moved places and I had to cancel the subscription.Would definitely do it again , you pay the prize that you would usually pay for one high end product , and you recieve so many products.

  • Great for testing out products but not worth it for only sample sized products.

  • Was a gift. Super enjoyable to get the samples. Well packaged. I found one thing that is now in regular use. I only had a few boxes so I didn't see any repetition some other reviewers mention. A lovely gift that made me think of the friend who sent it every month.

I think it does what it does well. If the idea is to try to stuff and be entertained by the primo experience at your door, it's fun.

  • i used to have a birch box subscription but cancled it due to the repeat items and how small the samples where.
