Birchbox Reviews

2.7

Birchbox earns mixed reviews: the brand delights early with cute, reusable boxes and discovery of new, travel-friendly samples, but many reviews say it isn’t good long-term due to tiny sizes, repetitive items, weak personalization, and wasteful packaging. Reviews of Birchbox also flag frequent duplicates, too many fragrances, and recent operational issues, while praising its giftability and occasional standout finds.

  • I was a dedicated Birchbox girlie for YEARS even after it stopped being cool. I found the samples to be of a highish quality, good variety, and cute packaging. The samples were GREAT for travel and to send as cute little gifts to friends. But the company absolutely GHOSTED for MONTHS (it might have been years?) and when they re-emerged after a buy-out, offered absolutely no incentives to loyal customers who had been patiently waiting for their return. I expressed this concern (what, you can't give me 500 points or something?? Be for real), and stayed as a monthly subscriber to see if their comeback warranted forgiveness of their appalling customer service behavior. It wasn't! The products and packaging were subpar and it was obvious there was very little care in the customer anymore. Do not recommend anymore!

  • I got sick samples of samples is the word! One I have no use for. It actually goes with another lip product. But of course they give you one so you'll go back and buy the second part of it lol. One is a decent size. Two are so many they'll last a week. And the one with the picture the packet of Estee Lauder revitalizing serum one time use. OMFG and almost $30 28 with shipping definitely not worth it. I can compare it to the allure box I got I actually still have some of the items & I got it months ago. One of the products I use daily. And the other so small I had to take a picture and put it through Google to find out WTF it was used for! Tiny bottle just has a name and a cent. I put it on my hand it was oily so I thought probably for hair glad I looked it up because it's face oil which I could never use in my quiz oily skin really don't need face oil

  • When I first tried it, I received lots of great items. I’ve subscribed a few more times and very disappointed, because there are too many repeat items, poor quality items and tiny samples.

Better and useful items, larger samples

  • I got a few good things, but it is not curated for you in any way. That's a lie. There is absolutely no point in filling out the questions. I get the exact same samples my mom gets. I'm black with curly hair, she's white with blonde hair. Also, some of the samples I've received at least three times now. Hardly any makeup at all, the majority of the items are lotions. It's a waste of money.
