Reviews mention

  • Neutral, clean cooking flavor
  • High-heat, stable performance
  • Ergonomic, precise squeeze bottle
  • Sustainable, future-forward positioning
  • Underwhelming flavored oil intensity
  • Occasional pan sticking with eggs
  • Misthreaded cap causing leaks
  • Limited nutritional transparency details

Algae Cooking Club impresses in reviews for clean, neutral-tasting algae oil that handles high heat (around a 535°F smoke point), delivers crisp results, and comes in ergonomic squeeze bottles that control pour. Reviews also flag shortcomings: flavored oils can taste underwhelming or one‑dimensional, occasional sticking or residue for eggs, leaky caps, and requests for clearer nutritional and sourcing transparency—making the original oil a strong everyday cooker while the lineup still matures.

  • Clean and healthy seed oil alternative What an incredible product! I love cooking and after trying to find alternatives to seed oils, I finally discovered ACC … It is super clean/healthy (high monounsaturated fats), it has a very high smoke point (so unlike olive oils I can use it for steaks, etc), and it has a very neutral flavor that amplifies the taste of everything. Sooooo good!

  • Algae Cooking Club's algae oil is truly revolutionizing the oil industry. The flavor is incredibly neutral with a hint of a butter-y undertone. The neutrality lets flavors shine. I didn't realize how overwhelming my go-to olive oil was until I gave this a taste. Try it on eggs first (or something simple that you cook often) so you can truly understand its power.

  • Here for the shiitake mushroom finishing oil! I like their original algae cooking oil just fine too, but I'm cool with my olive oil longterm. Actually one thing I do love about it though is that it's tall and slim, taking up less counter space.

  • I love this stuff. It came fast, and even though a package thief actually stole it, my fiance engaged them in pursuit (not joking) and chased them down the block until he was able to get it back. They were in the process of breaking open the box to steal the Algae Oil, and my fiance said "NOT TODAY!" Thank god, because this is my favorite neutral cooking fat. I like that it has kind of no taste at all. I love that it's a sustainable and seed oil free option. Good price point and available at so many retailers. No notes!

  • This one oil can replace them all!! High smoke point cooking oil derived from fermentation of microalgae. There is NO fishy taste, just clean, neutral taste that can accentuate any flavor you throw at it! I've all at least 3 bottles of the cooking oil in the past year and have also bought the chili and umami mushroom oil bottles as well. The star of it all is the cooking oil. For me this oil wins on cooking flexibility, health, and most importantly sustainability. Health - per 1 serving (15 grams), 13 grams of mono-unsaturated fatty acids, aka Omega-9, low saturated fat (0.5) grams, and only 1.5 grams of Omega-6. While this oil has more Omega-9 per serving than olive oil 93% vs 70%, it does come without the powerful polyphenols of olive oil. Taste - mild, neutral, and clean. Can be used in any application Sustainability: uses less land, water, and has lower carbon footprint than any other oils. They also package the main cooking oil in recyclable aluminum bottles. The only thing to improve upon is plastic squeeze bottles for chili and mushroom (umami) flavored oils. For me this oil wins on all fronts!

  • I was using avocado oil to cook at high temps for the longest time but was never sure about the quality of the oil I was using (a lot of oils are mixed with lower quality, sometimes rancid oils). The versatility of this oil is amazing as the flavor of the oil blends in and is further amplified with the flavors around it. I feel good knowing I'm cooking my food safely with this oil, as well as the sustainability efforts the company carries out with the overall production of this.

  • Love the original oil! I’ve used it for eggs and stir fry mainly and it makes everything taste a little more umami. Highly recommend!

  • I have to say, the branding is what sold me at first. But their commitment to sustainability and a seed-oil-free alternative is what made me give it a try. I've used about half the bottle and haven’t noticed any difference in taste. I've been growing increasingly frustrated with the cleanup my avocado oil from Costco creates. High smoke point? Umm, where? (A word to the wise: don’t buy in bulk until you test it first.) But ACC has been easy-peasy cleanup for me...phew! It's also just so dang cute next to my Brightland olive oil.

  • So far so good with this oil. I’ve been using it for all my cooking (still use olive oil for dressings and such). Nice, neutral flavor, light. I would like to see more about the health claims from third party sources but was a really nice option when cooking for people who are allergic to nut and seed oils! I’ll stick with it since it’s functionally great and hope it’s environmentally as good and hopefully a decently healthy option.

  • Love this oil to cook with. I had never heard of it before I tried it. It is so versatile!

  • Really liked this algae cooking oil never used something like this before tastes neutral, light and a little buttery tried it with a stir fry and the food tasted better than the olive oil I was using before and is better for cooking. It is seed oil free, clean neutral oil and only 120 calories per serving. It is an algae superfood it has a 535 degree Fahrenheit smoke point which is worry free high heat cooking to unlock those tasty textures and flavors.

  • I typically use extra virgin olive oil for my cooking, however, I didn’t regret giving Algae cooking oil a solid try! My food came out just as delicious!

  • Tried this, and was really pleasantly surprised. Love that someone's pushing beyond olive oil. Excited for them to expand their assortment (more spiced & flavored oils?)

  • This oil has a great taste and works beautifully for anything that cooks in a pan. Losing a point for the cost and availability, it's much more expensive per ounce than the mid-grade olive oil I usually use, and currently I can only get it mail order. I enjoyed trying it, but don't think I would repurchase unless the price came down significantly.

  • This Club Bundle is an absolute winner! 🌱🔥 The flavors are bold, fresh, and unlike anything I’ve tried before. Each bottle brings something unique to the table, and I love that they’re packed with nutrients while still tasting amazing. Plus, the quality is top-notch—you can really tell a lot of thought went into crafting these. If you’re into innovative, healthy foods, this is a must-try. Already looking forward to my next order!

  • I love that this oil is high in omega 9s and is a great alternative to my regular olive oil, while be more nutritious!! Also love the high smoke point! Couldn’t ask for a better oil :)

  • I decided to give algae oil a try because of the promising benefits I’d heard about. The idea that algae could offer a sustainable alternative to traditional cooking oils was intriguing. With the need for more farmland becoming critical, algae seemed like a revolutionary solution. It promised to produce high-quality fats, proteins, and nutrients in a matter of days with minimal land, water, and carbon usage—without sacrificing flavor or quality. However, despite these potential benefits, my experience was nothing short of awful. The taste was terrible, completely overpowering my summer squash and zucchini. Cleaning up was even worse—the oil clung to my All-Clad stainless steel pan like glue, making it nearly impossible to remove (which really makes you think about what it’s doing to your body). In comparison, the avocado oil I’ve been using for years is superior in every way. It has a clean, neutral taste, a high smoke point, and doesn’t leave behind any unpleasant smells or residue. While algae oil might have some environmental advantages, those benefits don’t outweigh the downsides for me. I’ll definitely be sticking with avocado oil from now on.
