Whoop earns mixed reviews: the brand delivers robust sleep, recovery, and strain insights that help many users train smarter, but recurring accuracy issues and a steep subscription model undermine trust. Reviews praise its screenless, low-profile 4.0 band, continuous wear charging puck, and automatic activity detection, while citing problems like confusing app navigation, band wear and sogginess, battery/charger hiccups, occasional data glitches, and complaints about misleading long-term contracts.

I have had my whoop for a year and live by it. It doesn't give you credit for things like steps or general movement - only when you workout hard. I love using this to track sleep, find out what habits help me perform better and to push me to workout harder.
Works great for specific things, but their membership payment setup isn't worth the cost. With all the smartwatches out there now, they can do similar readings without monthly fees or at least lower costs. Whoop is awesome in theory and used to be unique, but now it's not worth the long term costs. The bands also start to get too loose over time and are silly expensive to replace. If you're a pro athlete or training for an Ironman, maybe this is right for you. But again, most watches are equally good these days.
Their sensor does not work well. It relies on HRV data but the data collection is not accurate and you cannot fix it manually. Upsides are the black wrist band looks fashionable and everyone's hyped about this in the past year so you're part of the cool wearable club eg people with apple watches, whoop or Garmin
I love my Whoop and everything about it. I signed up for a 2 year membership because I am OBSESSED with all the data it provides. Sometimes my recovery scores are a little whacky, or my effort is way off (sometimes my foot cadence gets confused for my HR), BUT I still love Whoop. Only giving it 4 stars because of the occasional inaccuracy and the fact you are stuck wearing this on your wrist for 2 years.

It's good, but it's annoying to wear a Whoop all the time, especially if you also have a Garmin or Apple watch. Sometimes I get a little contact dermatitis and have to switch wrists.

I have been a loyal WHOOP user for almost two years. The product insights are exceptional, and customer service is fast.

The data is truly what sets WHOOP apart, so if you aren't interested in that or have difficulty being obsessive with training, this may not be for you.
I'm super interested in data behind myself and my body but never really found existing wearables that interesting – even Apple Watch (I have a Series 3) which I like how it looks but I found it annoying that I need to tell it when I'm working out I ordered Whoop after looking at it a few times over a couple of months and their model of the band being free (or cheap?) but then you pay a subscription to use the app etc was interesting but £30/month is overly expensive I think. I also looked at the Oura ring which a couple of friends have – and love – but I don't like wearing rings so that was out of the question – I really liked how Whoop's 4.0 band was minimal, no screen and very flat to my wrist – and the app looked great too. One thing I really like about it is the charging is done through a little black "puck" thing which slides on top of the band. I charge the puck daily via USB-C and then when the band itself gets low on charge (lasts 3-4 days on a full charge) I just slide the puck on top of it and continue my day until it's charged so you really never have to take it off. As far as I know it's also waterproof but I don't like the feel of the fabric band being wet so I just take it off when I shower. The app is good and collects a tonne of data including calories burned, heart rate variability, blood oxygen level, respiratory rate and more and being able to capture those without any manual input is really nice. It also lets you know if any of the things I mentioned get outside your "normal" zone which can be an indicator of injury or illness and being able to get a heads up if you might be getting sick ahead of time is really interesting and one of the main reasons i got it. You can also generate a PDF of your insights which is interesting and I haven't seen other solutions offer that (though I could be wrong)

While the band itself is really well made and good quality, and I am really happy using it, sometimes it makes mistakes and I'm not sure if that's to do with the band or the app. Sometimes it will show my heart rate as being 20bpm for example which is in the red zone for being unusual – but then when I tap on it it will say it's actually 120bpm which is fine because I'm doing exercise. Which is confusing. It also did take a long time to ship – about 4 months but I believe that was due to high demand so I didn't mind that much. The App is also a bit confusing – I don't particularly like using it as there are a lot of sections and it can be hard to remember which bits of data are in which sections or how to browse to find what you need – but the design of it in general is nice.
Game changer. Great device + an even greater app loaded with information about your daily strain, recovery, and sleep performance.
I love whoop, great if you have friends using it as well because you can create a team.. and do little competitions.

The product is great, the daily information you get from it is awesome, I personally loved the recovery/sleep data, and comparing it to how I currently feel.

The Whoop data is the best I have experienced so far. But, as many have called out, the price is steep. $30/month feels especially pricey as the Apple Watch has added a lot of the data (like HRV) that used to be Whoop's key differentiators. I see they've added new data around things like strain which I would love to try out, but at the price I'm not rushing to dive back in. Still love the product and hope they'll continue to evolve and add value, but feels like they'll be stronger if they get acquired and integrated into a larger health and fitness connected ecosystem.
I’ve been a whoop user for 2.5 years and I have no intention of stopping. The insights on sleep and how your daily activities impact your sleep/recovery have helped me make some big changes in my life. The data is easy to consume, even though there is a lot of it. The monthly and weekly reports are clear and helpful. I love the options for wearing it off the wrist - bicep bands, bras and underwear. I wore the underwear under a formal dress to a wedding and you couldn’t see it at all and I still got my data tracked.

Used for 1 year. Had a lot of trouble cancelling the subscription. Hard to buy as a gift and store was always out of the better bands. I felt the stats were better than some other apps, but to wear this and pay such a large monthly fee, I felt it could have been better.

lower price.

Whoop’s data truly is top notch and helped me keep up my fitness and level up my recovery game. Understanding sleep metrics and how to get the best recovery is so important, and Whoop provides objective metrics to support that.

Customer support wasn’t super helpful when I had an issue, but they did eventually resolve it.
I LOVE the data it has given me, I know what my body likes + what it doesn't. I love the communities part and that I'm always pushing myself to get high strain and focus more on recovery. Has truly changed the way that I live my life. However after a year of using it I've began to question whether it's still providing me value since I know what my body does and doesn't like. Also can toe the line of becoming toxic in terms of avoiding things that will impact my recovery or pushing sore muscles to achieve a higher strain.

Would love to see some way to incorporate strength training and muscle fatigue, as well as more value over time. Once you know your baseline and what impacts you, it's tough to want to continue $30/mo for the data you can predict.
I enjoyed it and can understand why it’s beneficial. I just found the subscription fee to be too much for what you get. I think there are similar devices that probably do just as good without a monthly fee.

This told me I was sick before I even knew that I was sick. It told me that I was sick and I did not even feel sick, then 5 days late I tested positive for covid. Only downside it I wish that it would also be a watch.

I used Whoop for over a year and really enjoyed my time with them. The insights are great, especially if you're trying to get in shape or are training. I loved the fact that my Whoop would automatically detect activity and learned what activities I did so that I didn't have to input activities in manually like you have to do with the Apple Watch. As with all activity trackers, you're not going to instantly hit your goals just by buying one; it's a tool to keep you motivated and get to your goals if you put in the work. The reason I didn't renew my subscription was that it seemed like the jump to 4.0 really screwed with the battery life, and the charger really didn't do a good job of holding a charge. I found myself constantly having to charge my Whoop. I also upgraded to their Pro package where I would get a free item from their shop every quarter, but they never really had anything I wanted besides more and more colors of bands. A guy can only get so many boxers lol. Overall a good product, but a bit costly when it comes to the subscription. If the 4.0 had a better battery life and charger, it might be worth the subscription.
This product is a shadow of its former self. I had the Whoop 3 for years and loved it but then they upgraded to whoop 4 and I could tell it was totally off and super inaccurate. What a huge bummer that they ruined their own product.

Super inaccurate since the last version release - very disappointing
Helpful in understanding metrics. I am not active enough competitively to justify the monthly cost for a membership. I would be game to buy it at one price point and be able to use the app free. Similar to Apple Watch.

Their software is where they shine. The band is nothing more than a heart-rate monitor. As an athlete, I love the stats and feedback that I get, but sometimes I do wish that it was more actionable. I stopped my subscription because you can get the same thing with an apple watch and the app Athlytic (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/athlytic-ai-fitness-coach/id1543571755).
I really like using my Whoop to track sleep, energy, fitness, etc. One of my favorite features is their recovery feature so you know when you can push harder during a workout or if it's more helpful to your body to take it easy at the gym. Another feature I like is that it doesn't have a watch face like an Apple watch. Minimal distractions to focus on workouts is important to me.

I wish they had more stylish bands. If I'm not in the gym, these bands don't go well with any outfits. Also, the monthly fee of $30 is a bit steep to track the data.
