Tony's Chocolonely

Tony’s Chocolonely earns strong reviews for rich, creamy chocolate, inventive flavors like Milk Caramel Sea Salt, Dark Almond Sea Salt, and Dark Milk Pretzel Toffee, plus mission-driven, fair-trade sourcing. Reviews also flag drawbacks: some bars taste overly sweet or bland to dark‑chocolate loyalists, the thick, uneven pieces are hard to break and share, and concerns appear about heavy metals in certain dark varieties and salt intensity in caramel bars.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
Tony's Chocolonely has recently become my favorite chocolate bar. I live in Belgium, so I've had my fair share of good quality chocolate. Tony's just ticks a lot of boxes: great quality, a wide range of classic as well as fun experimenting flavors, fun design, and they not only stand up for fair trading, but they incorporate it into their marketing. As you can see on the image, they don't have the typical squares of chocolate, but are all divided into different sizes. This is their way of showing the world that a lot of ways of doing things aren't fair, which is something we need to discuss.

I recently tried their collaboration with Ben & Jerry's (dark milk brownie) which has been one of my favorites so far. They have also made their version of well known flavors (Twix & Kit-Kat), which gives a taste of nostalgia but still staying true to their brand. Price-quality is great!

Tony's chocolonely is delicious chocolate. The bars are huge! I have not been able to find the smaller ones. I recently found the Christmas Dark chocolate covered candy cane! OMG it is delicious. They were on the sale rack after christmas and I bought every single one.

The downfall is the expense, Yes the bars are large but they are the most expensive chocolate bar too. I wish the smaller bars were more available. I do love the holidays bars so when I found them on such a great sale I had to get them all, sorry to everyone that couldn't get one.

Tony’s is not baloney! This chocolate is legit. Of course the brand’s strong design is what caught my eye at my local Italian market. I was attracted to the 90’s colour palette printed on matte paper. An uncommon paper choice for chocolate bar these days. The quality of chocolate is above standard and exceed my expectations. I lived in Switzerland in my early 20’s so I have developed quite a palate for all things chocolate. I was happy to see an ingredients list that I could pronounce. The only item listed that did not appease me was: soy lecithin. That ingredient brings my 5/5 to a 4/5. The price ($7.29 CND) I found more than reasonable as this bar weights in at a chunky 180 grams. Right now there is modern slavery and illegal child labor on cocoa farms in West Africa. Tony’s Chocolonely exists to change that. Illegal child labour and modern slavery are illegal and they have to stop.I love that this brand is raising awareness. Before stumbling upon Tony’s I was unaware of this injustice. I believe in this brand and have purchased a collection of these bars as stocking stuffers for my family this year. I hope you try Tony’s so you can also spread awareness about child labour and enjoy this product as much as I did.

Recomendo a todos que em viagem ou de passagem por Amsterdam na Holanda , que visitem ambientes onde tenham o Chocolonely do Tony's e se deliciem com um dos melhores sabores em chocolates desse País.!

Love the brand mission but the hazelnut chocolate, I tried was pretty regular, in fact it was a bit sweeter than I like. The irregular pattern in the chocolate looks like a pretty cool idea but I wasn’t able to break them into those pieces.

What can I say? I'm a chocoholic. I first had these bars in Amsterdam (and no I wasn't on anything) They were just incredibly high quality chocolate and extremely thick. You can test the quality difference between this and any other chocolate bar for sure, would highly recommend!

These chocolates are too good. My boyfriend and I bought 2 large bars and could not stop ourselves from eating the whole thing. We woke up the next morning in a sugar coma. The chocolate is so good and smooth, we even love the dark chocolate options. I would warn that you don't want to buy too many of these all at once because they will get eaten immediately. Also, it's great that they are from slavery-free cocoa farms, so we feel great supporting this brand!

This may be the best chocolate ever made. I have never tasted something more delicious and creamier. I don’t have a favorite flavor from this company because I love all their chocolate bars. I guarantee you when you try these chocolate bars you will never try any other chocolate bar out there.

Tony’s Chocolonely is a brand on a mission. If you haven’t read the back-story of how the brand got it’s name, it is quite a tale! It makes you think differently about chocolate and made me want to only eat this brand of chocolate. It recently had a roadshow in Leeds city centre (see photo) to educate people on their mission to end child slavery in the chocolate industry (and all the other inequalities in the industry). Aside from the brand ethos, the chocolate is delicious, the packaging is old-school but exciting (kind of reminiscent of a Wonka bar from Charlie and the chocolate factory - it definitely gives me those vibes anyway!) The only negative I can think of is that the irregular-shaped markings on the bar make it tricky/messy to eat (not to mention control portion size!) but even this is part of the brand messaging - to highlight the inequality in the cocoa industry and the small piece of the pie that the producers get.

I’ve tried all the flavors, and I recommend getting the variety pack to find your favorite. It’s hard for me to choose since I’m a chocolate lover. I love that it doesn’t have much sugar, so I don’t feel bad about eating a few!

My personal favorite chocolate bars! The milk chocolate is creamy like Swiss chocolate and the milk chocolate with caramel & sea salt is so so good! I highly recommend trying Tony’s Chocolate Bars!

I have tried almost all verieties and the ball does not drop no matter which I choose. Tony's Chocolonely chocolate is smooth, rich in flavor and well balanced. Be careful because once you take a bite it's hard to limit yourself. Soooo good.

Love Tony’s Milk chocolate & milk chocolate caramel & sea salt bars, so much more creamy then most milk chocolate bars. I recommend the variety pack first because then you can decide which flavor it your favorite!

Not the best chocolate I’ve tried but not the worst either. It’s sweet and a bit salty with some almonds. So if anyone loves chocolate like that then try it.

Love the variations of flavors and colors. They all taste so good, the quality of the chocolate is just superb. And not to forget and not to mention the mission: an example for other brands. Conclusion: Tony's Chocolonely never fails on you.

I had the dark chocolate almond and it was absolutely fabulous. The chocolate was smooth and creamy and dark. This chocolate bar is huge and there are a lot of almonds in it. This company is to be commended for their mission to eliminate exploitation of children in the cocoa farms.

I LOVE Tony's! I am so glad I finally gave it a try as I am usually a Theo Chocolate buyer. I have repeatedly purchased Tony's big brick of milk chocolate (red paper wrapper.) It tastes similar to Cadbury's milk chocolate drops. I recently discovered the mini bar variety pack and I enjoy them all, especially the dark chocolate (blue paper wrapper.) Delicious! And fair-trade. Tony's is so worth the money. The only ingredient I am not jazzed about is soy lecithin which I usually try to avoid. I just picked up Tony's Chocolate Love A-Fair white chocolate strawberry cheesecake style. It is a must-try if you like white chocolate with dark choc crunchy bits. It tastes more like white choc than strawberry cheesecake. The bar itself is moulded pretty cool and aligns with their mission against slave-labour. The regular size is hefty and if I'm not careful I will eat half in one sitting.

I am huge fan of Tony Chocolonely. Their mission litterally makes there chocolate taste better, as if that was needed. The thickness of the chocolate lends itself to great mix-ins so I really enjoy all the varieties of TC. Another great feature is that the bar breaks up in erratic shapes and sizes, not uniform squares and rectangles that are so common. I do think the bar is a little think for their darker chocolates which don't require the same size pieces as the milk and mix-ins varieties. The value is excellent as most of the bars are around $4.99 and you can find them on deal regularly. I regularly buy these as gifts in addition to eating them myself and with the family.

Brought sea salt bar duty free at airport. Wow totally delicious yummy creamy chocolaty and salty just so nice. I will be trying other flavors and possibly giving out as presents in the future. I also love the story behind the branding leading other cocoa industries in combating child labor and slavery. God bless you 🙏🏽

I accidentally discovered these irresistible chocolates at Whole Foods. I can't stop eating the orange one. Perfect sea salt caramel flavor. Aside from the taste perfection, what a dang inspiring mission. Love to support it! I'd recommend starting with variety pack (pictured below) to figure out which bar tickles your taste buds the most. Sea salt caramel (orange) is missing for obvious reasons.

Create a safety mechanism to prevent me from eating the whole bar in one go.
