The Pizza Cupcake reviews and discussion

First off, since we don't eat pork, this is just a review of the cheese versions. I thought they were great! THe crust is kind of a flaky biscuit dough (think: Pillsbury in the pop cans), the tomato sauce was sweet without being cloying, and the cheese was nice. I bought these for my teen daughter who's obsessed with all things pizza. She declared them "good" and "fun" but thought the cheese was too concentrated and still prefers dominos. For the price, you get a lot more pizza from Dominos, too.

Received via mail, well packaged but a very large box. The bites were tasty and unique though I must say they didn't spark too much excitement. I finished the box with one other person in one sitting. A good quantity to share, though you do feel a bit burnt out by the last bit. The packaging didn't make it easy to save them for later though, so that's why we made the full amount.

This reminds me a bit of a mini Pizzeria uno. The buttery biscuit crust was light and crispy yet dense. It was extremely tasty and I would like to see a personal pizza size rather an oversized cupcake size.

These surprised me with how good they were. I was expecting them to be doughy and just not that great, but they were pretty yummy! My dad stole some and he liked them as well (he can be a picky curmudgeon). I don't have an air fryer, so I baked them and they came out great. I was genuinely impressed by the dough and the amount of filling. It doesn't look like it will be enough filling, but it is. They're a great snack, and I think 2 makes for a nice light lunch or dinner as well. Shipping was fast and the product was well insulated in the box.

I do enjoy eating these occasionally, but they are not exceptional. I might buy a box if I saw it at the grocery store, but wouldn’t go out of my way to get more.

These were quite tasty and definitely better in the oven than the microwave. The size is great if you are looking for a quick snack, but the price point is pretty high for what you get (compared to just buying pizza dough, adding the ingredients to your own muffin tins). I'd file these under the "fun experience but not worth a regular buy" category.

I was skeptical of these at first because the name made me think they were a salty/sweet combo, but they were surprisingly delicious! They were easy to make in the oven or air fryer, and were so satisfying. One box fed me and my partner for two meals, which I thought was pretty good. I will say that they were a little more oily than I would have liked, though.

Pretty good. I loved the taste, just wish there was a little more sauce. The dough was delicious! Perfect for a late night snack.

It was enjoyable, but I really wouldn't get it at the full list price. The dough is fine, regular pepperoni, and the mozzarella is honestly very good! The sauce was pretty bitter though. They're like mini-deep dish pizzas, and smaller than an average cupcake. Before ordering using the Thingdrop, I looked on their website to see what was special about this product. The website doesn't say much beyond the business journey, and the blurb that is on the back of the box is the only thing that is on the About page of the website - it is about the couple that started this company, and even though it is a cute story, it doesn't tell me anything about this product or what makes it special. When the box arrived, it was the first time I've seen a mention of a secret recipe dough. The dough was also pretty good but nothing spectacular. I guess they are trying to be the next household-name frozen food snack like Bagel Bites. It's a good snack but there are much more affordable options for snacks. At the current price point, it's what most people would be willing to spend on groceries to make a meal or to possibly even just buy a prepared meal.

These are fine! I bought these as part of a thingdrop - even then, the price was a little high for a frozen food. My first time making them, I found that they weren't cooking all the way through with the 8-10 minutes instruction - apparently they need to pre-thaw before baking? I would have appreciated instructions that skip a pre-thaw, even if the answer is to bake for a longer time. My second time, I microwaved them to thaw out before popping in the oven. They taste good, but nothing to write home about, and tbh, the pepperoni winds up just getting eaten in one bite vs a good pizza distribution.

A little dry, but the flavor was good. I don’t think I’d get these again.

These were pretty good. Nice and flakey. I couldn’t eat more than one at a time because they are a bit heavy with the cheese, but overall a fun snack to keep in the fridge

I love this product so much! They are absolutely delicious and always a crowd pleaser. They are great for entertaining because people either know/love them or are very impressed by them. They are on the pricier side, but certainly worth it. I wish they included air frier instructions on their packaging - looking forward to see what innovation they can come up with! Perhaps a gluten free option.

Quite tasty! I had the margherita pizza flavor. I really liked the flavor of the breading/crust. I wish it had more filling as it was mostly bread, but I suppose that's what a cupcake is! The filling was delightful, and I wish there was more of it. I will certainly try again and will get the pepperoni next time. I look forward to more flavors too!

“These are even better than bagel bites” - my boyfriend, which is HIGH praise. We love bagel bites in this apartment!! The dough is really tasty and light, the cheese pulls perfectly, and the pepperoni makes it even better. I didn’t pre-thaw (that was just a pro tip they had listed, not required) cooked for 12 minutes at 375 and they turned out perfectly. I grew up with pinwheels from pizza places and these are very much in that same vein.

These are pretty yummy - the pastry is flaky and light but filling. Defrosting them first as instructed does make them better (I tried both defrosting and cooking right after taking out of the freezer) so plan ahead :) Cheese was good and I didn't mind that there was only one pepperoni piece but the sauce was a real letdown for me - it has a cheap, flat taste. The ratio of sauce and cheese to dough is too low, need more sauce and cheese or less dough. Paying full price for these would be expensive, which wouldn't be an issue for me if the sauce was of better quality.

Part of the Thingdrop! Itend to bake these in a normal oven and even when I follow the pro tips, the tops burn after 5 minutes. It could be my oven being old or something but definitely a bit disappointed every time I've made them. They're good as a midnight snack in a pinch otherwise.

Listen- it's unfair to say these exceeded my expectations because I didn't know what to expect. But WOW these were so good! Really easy to pop in the oven straight from the freezer but would highly second the pro-tip from the box on thawing them out a bit before baking. The shipping was fast, they were packed with dry ice, and zero issues with quality. I just wish I had 100 more boxes!
