  • Bold, aromatic flavor sauces
  • Chewy, satisfying noodle texture
  • Clear, helpful recipe cards
  • Versatile across proteins and vegetables
  • Inconsistent flavor depth across varieties
  • Thin, watery sauce consistency
  • Small, skimpy portion sizes
  • Wasteful single-use packet packaging

Omsom earns strong reviews for delivering bold, easy-to-use Asian sauces and saucy noodles that help home cooks achieve flavorful results fast, with highlights like the Yuzu Misoyaki glaze, Larb, Krapow, and chewy noodle texture. Reviews also surface drawbacks: portions run small, several flavors lack depth or skew watery/overly spicy, sauce-to-noodle ratios feel light, and packaging reads single‑use and wasteful—useful to know if authenticity, intensity, or sustainability are priorities.

  • Tl;dr much yum fast My household doesn’t know anything about authentic ethnic foods. Let me say that up front. We like flavorful, occasionally very spicy things and get bored easily. Omson sauces have been a super fun addition to our kitchen. It’s not something we can afford to do a lot, but one sauce packet flavors a pound or a pound and a half of protein plus veg. So it goes further than I would have thought. And it makes dishes that I don’t have the pantry to make from scratch. The flavors are bold and crisp—not muddled like some other versions of this that I have tried. And they work equally well with animal and veg proteins. We have used baked tofu, tempeh, whatever meats are on sale, etc. Anything goes if you don’t worry about tradition too much. If Omson says “spicy” you can trust that to be the case. Don’t double up on the packets unless you truly want mouth and lip burning spice. We have given the sauce variety packs as gifts to friends and they have been well received.

  • The sauces are incredible, I am a big Yuzy and Larb fan to feel like a pro chef in the kitchen. I also love to put on salmon in the airfryer, a pantry staple for me. Plus the brand is co-founded by some incredibly cool and down-to-earth founders, which we love to see.

  • Flavor is great, but the size is a bit small for a family, and it isn't immediately clear that the prep/use case for each packet is slightly different.

  • Great tasting sauces and they’re conveniently located in my local grocery store. They’re a quick way to flavor some meat (chicken for me!) and they’re tasty!

  • I am originally from Singapore and grew up eating a variety of southeast asian food, something I sorely miss after moving to Seattle. I love that these sauce packets make making the flavors I grew up eating so accessible and attainable, especially on a weeknight when I am too lazy to cook! I will say that some of the flavors are better than others - I am partial to the yuzu miso on salmon, as well as the laab and krapow. The krapow in particular is a staple I might make at least once a week - it is super tasty and authentic and the fact that I can cook it in 10-20 minutes is unreal. I didn't love some of their other flavors as much, such as the bulgogi or mala, however, did try those when they first came out so might be open to retrying them if they have changed the taste based on feedback. I also think they are releasing different flavors soon that I would definitely be interested to try - just wish they were more easily accessible where I am (right now only in Whole Foods/order from the website). I would love to see them more widely stocked in my local grocery store!

  • I loved everything about my Om Som experience. The packaging, the recipes and the taste of the product all met my expectations, which was very exciting. I can’t wait to try more!

  • Really tasty spice blends/sauces, and I loooove the packaging. I enjoyed the sampler because it let me try all 4 types of asian cuisines in my own food recipes and saved me time when cooking. Now I know which flavors I like best and can reorder just those ones!

Slightly expensive for what it is, but it's an upstart and they need to make money somehow. Still felt it was worth it, but barely.

  • I've tried all of their starters and while they're all delicious, I definitely have favorites. I primarily use the starters to cook recipes from Omsom's website. The branding is fun and I resonate with Omsom's mission.

Expiration dates are too soon, often only a couple months after receiving my order (at least in my experience). Customers who order in bulk or order the sets likely need some time to get through all of the starters.

  • These pre-made sauces make cooking Asian food much easier for a novice home cook like myself. The recipes that are in the packaging as well as on their website are great for inspiration.

    Just more variety, please!

  • THE BEST! This product is so brilliant, so easy, and above all, so delicious. Love their site & social for recipe inspo and content in general, and am glad to start seeing them in stores too.

  • Love the Lemongrass and Korean Bulgolgi one. The Mala one was great too, but quite spicy, so can't enjoy it as often. Really love how this makes any protein absolutely delicious. Being made by trusted chefs from restaurants I love definitely adds credibility and made me want to try in the first place. The marinades themselves are complex and appreciate that they're not overly salty.

Would love a milder spice level for the spicy options so we can enjoy their spicy marinades more frequently!

  • I absolutely love everything about this brand. As an Asian-American/Filipino, it's so exciting to see how their translating the no-so-healthy starters so synonymous with Asian cooking for new audiences. My favorite so far is the Yuzu Misoyaki. I got the sampler and am loving trying all of them.

I'm not so sure about how sustainable the packaging is? While it is beautiful, I'm trying to be more conscious about what I consume.

  • So easy and delicious. My boyfriend is a chef and was at first hesitant to use an "all in one" sauce because he usually just makes one himself but he was happily surprised by how tasty it was.

  • Elevated, easy, and delicious! Both flavors that I tried were so easy to make, delicious, and so much more fun and flavorful than standard microwavable instant noodles. The sauces are delicious and put a powder packet to shame. Variety of flavors is also awesome, will be trying many of the others. Will definitely being buying these in the future!

  • I was excited to try this and the noodle is great, but the taste is not strong enough. It's very mild and the portion is pretty small as well. I won't recommend this to be honest.

  • Tried the noodle packets! I love the packaging and branding. The noodles were just ok. I preferred the garlic black pepper flavor to the soy garlic (tasted very chemically). Each packet has one clump of noodles but it’s 2 servings - they should really just make it one serving! No one would split an instant noodle kit!

  • Really delicious noodles! Love the thick and chewy texture and the sauces are just fantastic with some added vegetables.

  • Purchased 2 Omsom noodle packets at Whole Foods as part of Thingtesting's BOGO promotion. Overall taste and flavor profile, I would give 3.5/5 stars with a great noodle texture and with the sauce somewhat lacking in nuance and depth of flavor. At $5 per packet, it feels pricey and while the packaging looks cool, I could really do with less of the branding and/or unboxing experience. I think this is a great introduction to Asian/SE Asian flavors for people that have not experienced them before, but I don't believe this would sell well in an H-Mart or equivalent when surrounded by all the other competing ramen flavor options.

  • I'm a huge fan of the packaging and the branding. We watched David Chang in ugly delicious and agree that there's no reason why Asian food should be cheaper. I think the price point of this is perfect, it's not the cheapest thing, but you can actually taste that the product is better quality than more "authentic" Asian brands. The flavors were good, I doctored mine up with lots of vegetables and some left over meat - pretty darn good. This is a really easy to buy product and I think we'll keep a few of these around the house for "emergencies".

  • So far I’ve tried the saucy Coconut Lemongrass noodles and they’re pretty tasty for a quick lunch. They’re easy and fast to make. My 2-year-old daughter loves them!
