I've heard about this brand for a while (their branding is gorgeous) and have long wanted to try some of their product, but have put it off because I cannot really handle spicy food and I knew many of their sauces are spicy. However, when I got a BOGO for their new noodle kits from Thingtesting, I decided to give them a shot! I got a box of Soy Garlic noodles and a box of Garlic Black Pepper as those were the least spicy out of the options I saw. Soy garlic felt like a better one to try first because the flavors seem more up my alley. Cooking them on my stovetop was a breeze, and it was basically like cooking any dried noodles and afterward adding the sauce. I also made a fried egg to go on top.

The one thing I do have to say about the process was that the noodles were a lot longer than I expected, making them a challenge to transfer from my cooking pan to the bowl I was using to eat them in. I am sure this is intentional, as we see the creators pulling the noodles with chopsticks and showing their length in a picture on a box. But I did not notice that until inspecting the box later, so the length was a surprise to me!

Now onto the taste. The flavor overall was not super strong. I get that this is only one on the chili pepper spice scale out of three,  but it felt like it was lacking in flavors other than peppercorn. Speaking of which, if you told me this was the Garlic Black Pepper flavor, I would have believed you. I could immediately tell that the kick in this recipe was from peppercorn, and while there was a bit of other flavoring there, it was not as strong. I was also surprised to learn this was meant to be two servings, as I had no issues eating all of it in one go.

All that being said, I definitely did enjoy these noodles. It was simple to make and did not have any of that artificial feeling that I get when eating cheap instant ramen. I would just want a bit more flavor other than peppercorn with this sauce. It is also pretty expensive compared to other instant noodles, but it is clear that this is a product of quality.

I purchased some of the individual sauce packets from Whole Foods for a backpacking trip. I mixed them into my Maruchan noodles and it took my camp dinner to not just the next level, but outer space. It was delicious. Some of the flavours are really quite spicy, so keep your personal spice tolerance in mind (I loved it). Yum!

Love the taste of Omsom starters.  I haven't come across one I haven't liked but am a huge fan of the Yuzu Miso Glaze.

The sauce was very tasty and the noodles had a great texture. The coconut curry noodle sauce reminded me a lot of my favorite local restaurant's khao soi.

However, the sauce was pretty thin and there wasn't really enough for all the noodles. If I had added any veg/tofu/etc, there would not have been enough sauce. Would definitely appreciate maybe 1.5 times more sauce to improve the sauce distribution. 

Overall good experience - will definitely try other flavors in the line to compare.

I've been following Omsom for a while now- their sauces are so fun and are quite easy to test out, especially that they're now being sold as individual packets at Whole Foods. 

I tried the BOGO Saucy Noodles kit and was very excited because they had a coconut lemongrass curry flavor. I'm a huge fan of Khao Soi, which this tasted very similar to. I've tried a bunch of similar products, like the Momofuku noodles, but those paled in comparison to these. So much saucier, so much more flavor, nice thick noodles. It is a bit pricier than some other similar options ($4.99 for one box) and it's really one serving. But hey, cheaper than eating out! 

I cooked these garlic black pepper noodles in the microwave and the process was super easy.  Noodles in water in microwave, strain, and mix in sauce! The texture of the noodles was amazing and the sauce was really rich and nice.   For an easy microwaveable dish, you really can’t go wrong on this. $4.99 at Whole Foods, I believe packaging says it is 2 servings worth but I feel like I could probably eat it all if hungry :-)

I’ve been a fan of Omsom’s sauce packets for a while now and was excited to try their Saucy Noodles! I bought the garlic and black pepper noodles and soy garlic noodles to try and loved both flavors, but especially the soy garlic one. It’s rich, satisfying, and flavorful and it really hit the spot!  

I think these make a great gift pack for someone who does not know how to cook.

I found some of their flavors a hit and miss. I think if you’re familiar with Asian ingredients and flavors, you won’t enjoy this as much.

However, this is good for someone who isn’t a good cook (not derogatory)

Liked the texted of the noodles but I thought the sauce fell a little flat. I added a lot to it to make it more of a meal and have more flavor/body to it.

It was pretty good but I wanted more flavor. I was happy to see that it’s gluten free. It can be so hard to find gluten free Asian foods. 

Nothing to improve, this brand is doing a great job. Good price point, quality product, and distinctive packaging -- love it.

So far I've only tried the Japanese Yuzu Misoyaki starter, but I am obsessed with it. My salmon comes out perfectly every time I use it. It's easy to use and the directions and pairing suggestions are great. I also love the bright, fun packaging. Their social media, newsletter, and marketing are all great and really convey their brand story and values very well. 

Now that you have nailed the product would love to see a focus on sustainability 🚀🌍. Also now that you have opened my eyes to the deliciousness of SEA cuisine, would love to see collabs with local restaurants. Who knows how many delicious meals I have missed out on because they have not been on my radar 🧐

Omsom nails everything about their product experience. Amazing flavor, easy-to-follow instructions and plenty of options. Steezy brand vibes too, I keep the product out in the open on my bar cart because it looks great.

I do recommend going beyond using the packs and using fresh herbs will always be that cherry on top.

A+ for home cooks exploring different Asian cuisines, but even if you normally cook things like larb at home (like myself), this is a very quick meal option and cuts down prep time! I would say only the filipino sisig was new for me to cook, but I was familiar with all the other dishes.

OBSESSED! I kept getting ads for these and never paid them any mind. But after I saw an ad talking about how cooking Asian food often requires you to hunt down specific ingredients that you might not use otherwise (thus leaving you with a bottle of a sauce you use exclusively for one recipe), Omson sold itself to me. 

I bought the yuzu miso sauce to make a Japchae noodle (that I have struggled to make from scratch in the past) and it was perfect! The taste and flavor were there, the sizing was just the right amount and I found the recipe I used online (from the Omsom website) to be clear and direct.

I can't wait to try the other flavor I purchased! 

Also -- I bought these at Whole Foods for $3.99 a pack (opposed to 3 for a kit online for $12 before shipping). I recommend that you go to Whole Foods to grab the one pack to skip the shipping and try without committing to a 3 pack! 

I liked the glaze and thought the flavor was great but I didn't feel like it stood out head and shoulders above other glazes you might buy. I think the brand probably really shines with some of its other variations. 

I've been wanting to try Omsom forever but was a little hesitant to take the leap on ordering it online. But, I happened to be in Target looking for something completely different and saw it on the shelf. So you know I did a little impulse buy. I grabbed the miso salmon glaze because I needed something to change up my dinner rotation. It was super flavorful and easy to use. 

UPDATE: Tried their saucy noodle kit and absolutely loved it! Made a great base for a fun meal with the fam. Super tasty and just the right amount of spicy kick. Definitely picking this up again!

Sometimes a little unsure how much sauce is enough for how much protein - especially if you're using alternative proteins. Also wish that the packaging didn't feel so single use / wasteful. 

Love the branding, the story, & the product itself. Makes it really fun and easy to make dishes I love + dishes I haven't tried before without buying a ton of ingredients I won't use as often. 

Super yummy! I bought Omsom ramen on a trip to Whole Foods. The Soy Garlic flavor was super good, I just wish it had a bit more flavor! 

I've been wanting to try Omsom for a while, so I was ecstatic to find their stuff locally at a new independent home goods store in my neighborhood. I got the spicy bulgogi starter pack, which includes three sauce packets and a small booklet of recipes. I followed a recipe on the Omsom site for Korean spicy tofu, and I was incredibly impressed by how well it came out and how fast it was to make.

Got a noodle packet at Whole Foods. It was super easy to make and the flavor was good. Slightly salty.
