Reviews mention

  • Potent bond-repair technology
  • Luxurious clean fragrance
  • Highly concentrated formulas
  • Effective brass-neutralizing pigment
  • Inconsistent results across hair
  • Potentially drying formulas
  • Heavy feel on fine hair
  • Staining purple pigment

OLAPLEX earns polarized reviews: it visibly strengthens and revives bleached or damaged hair—No. 3 Hair Perfector, No. 6 Bond Smoother, No. 7 Bonding Oil, and the 4P Purple Shampoo are frequent standouts—yet many users report dryness, heaviness, or even increased shedding and brittleness if overused. The brand is praised for salon-clean scent, rich lather, and fast toning, but criticized for inconsistent results across hair types and small, hard-to-dispense bottles.

  • Olaplex products are great and definitely unique and a step up compared to your average conditioner and hair mask. I've tried the #3 treatment as well as #4 shampoo, #5 conditioner and #8 moisture mask and they were great for my hair. They also lasted me for quite a long time because I only used them once a week. My only caveat is the price point - you do get salon-level quality at home but I have only bought the products when there was a special offer because it is just very pricey otherwise.

  • Nice cooling shampoo for scalp.

  • I have tried Olaplex’s shampoo, conditioner, hair oil, and purple shampoo. Nothing has impressed me. Everyone is always raving about Olaplex and how soft it makes their hair but after a few months of use, I do not see or feel any improvements in my hair. These products aren’t cheap either.

  • It doesn’t do exactly what it says on the bottle. I have fairly damaged and dry hair and I didn’t notice much a of a difference. I used it consistently for 3 months and didn’t see any change.

  • In 2021, i fully bought into the Olaplex brand. I think theyre high quality products, with the most worthwhile being their mask, oil and shampoo/conditioner. I had the tonic and the bond creme as well, but i think i got those more out of wanting to shop than anything.

  • Have tried a couple of their products. No. 3 and No.7. While I liked how they felt on my hair and feel they served the intended purpose, I later found out the formulas contain more chemicals than I realized so I didn’t repurchase.

  • Refreshing easy scalp delight shampoo.

  • I love all the products I have used from Olaplex. The shampoo and conditioner work great and the bonding product smooths my hair better than almost any item I have ever used. The bonding oil has a fantastic scent and is a great finisher on my dry hair.

  • Love this brand. Repeat customer for 6 months.

  • I have bleached my hair for a number of years and was introduced to Olaplex by my hairdresser. During bleach treatments I have had olaplex mixed with the bleach and also used the at home treatments. I have had a lot of breakage over the years from bleach and can’t say that I noticed much of a difference when I used olaplex. The product is easy to apply and smells nice, I am just not sure that it did much for my hair.

  • I use Olaplex at my hair salon and every time it leaves my hair in prime condition. I've been tempted to buy it to use it at home but I'm always not convinced by the sizes, that is what stops me from using it at home.

  • I recently tried the OLAPLEX Hair Oil, and my experience has left me with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the scent of this hair oil is absolutely delightful. The fragrance is subtle yet captivating, and it lingers in the hair without being overwhelming. It adds a pleasant touch to my daily hair care routine, and I find myself enjoying the aroma throughout the day. If you're someone who appreciates a product with a lovely and long-lasting scent, OLAPLEX Hair Oil delivers on this front. However, one significant drawback that can't be overlooked is the cost. The price point of OLAPLEX Hair Oil is undeniably high, making it an investment for those on a budget. While the quality of the product is evident, the hefty price tag may deter some consumers, especially when comparable products are available at a more affordable price. The cost becomes a considerable con for those looking for effective hair care without breaking the bank.

  • Dried out and ruined my hair. I will never use their products again.

  • I wanted to not like this brand. I really didn’t want to just buy into the hype because everyone else was. But their products are incredible!! They instantly save my dry hair from frizz.

  • I bleach and dye my hair so my ends get dry. I use the oil and purple shampoo and it does make my hair feel great. Wish it was cheaper but it works. I don’t use it everyday but when I do I notice a difference.

  • Olaplex products are hit or miss for me, but for the most part I really like them! Some tend to make my hair super greasy, but others do not. I especially love their dry shampoo!

  • I was so excited to try this product after I started dyeing my hair because of all the hype, but unfortunate it didn't live up to it. While the mask definitely made a difference on my bleached and dyed hair, I had better and faster improvement with other products. That difference paired with the cost for the quantity, I found that Olaplex is just not worth it.

  • I started using Olaplex when it was a salon only product, and it definitely helped protect my fine curls as I bleached and dyed my hair for a few years. I used N3 for a bit, and it helped some, but never quite as much as I hoped for. This might have been user error, or the fact that things always feel better in the salon. I wasn't really impressed when I tried a sample of their shampoo and conditioner. It might make more of a difference over time, but the two uses I got out of the sample didn't make a noticeable difference in my hair.

  • I used both the purple shampoo and conditioner. Loved the smell and it worked quite well on my hair. Only downside is price-- I ended up switching to Sachajuan for the same results (if not better) and more affordable price point. Definitely lives up to the hype though.
