Kristin Ess earns mixed reviews: many find the shampoos, masks, and styling sprays make hair softer, shinier, and more voluminous with a luxe scent, while others report scalp tightness, residue, frizz, or even increased shedding with certain lines. Reviews praise standout performers like the Dry Finish Working Texture Spray, Thickening Spray, purple shampoo/conditioner, and Ultra Hydrating Curl Repair Mask, but note inconsistent results across hair types and products that can feel heavy, hard to rinse, or underwhelming.

I've tried a shampoo from this brand, and I wasn't a huge fan of it. It had a smell that I thought was weird, and the shampoo itself felt overly thick. I can't say the shampoo was necessarily good either.
Kristin Ess products are amazing! From the luxurious feel to the incredible results, every item I've tried leaves my hair looking and feeling healthy, shiny, and soft. The scents are always on point, and the packaging is chic and practical. Whether you're looking for styling or hair care, Kristin Ess never disappoints!
I tried Kristin Ess Signature shampoo and conditioner. While the ingredients appear healthy, my hair felt great after using both and the subtle scent was very enjoyable, the higher price point brought me back to my three other favorite brands, which work as well for me without breaking the brand. I'd give it 5 stars, but took one off for price/value.
I have only ever tried one other product from this brand one time and admittedly, I wasn’t very impressed with that product. But I was very excited to try the Peptide Restore series as it seems to be curated for my hair type. While it smells very good and the shampoo lathers well. That was the extent of my excitement. I found my hair to be very tangled after using the conditioner and weighed down after using the Bond Recovery Leave-In Treatment. While this line is a great value, I didn’t find it to be very effective for my hair type.
I have oily, thin, straight hair for reference. I love all of her products that I’ve tried (hair mask, gentle cleanser, thickening spray, texture spray) except for one (scalp scrub). The products feel high end for a good price point
I love their shampoo! The packaging is modern and the product is great. Makes my hair soft, shiny and clean.
I found the shampoo and conditioner to be a reasonable quality relative to the price. I wish that the products provided greater scalp benefits, in addition to hair benefits. The texture and scent were nice, and the packaging was easy to use.

I tried their hair, mask and shampoo and conditioner as a sample and I was really impressed and I went to buy the full sized after I left my hair feeling super soft well nourished and taken care of it. It’s a nice thick quality and it also smells really great.
I love the range of products Kristin Ess has. I have tried the curl repair mask and found it made my hair very moisturized and free of frizz. The scent is very pretty. The brand definitely feels high end for an affordable price.
I have tried the Kristen Ess signature shampoo and conditioner as well as the instant exfoliating scalp scrub. I can tell a difference the difference when I wash and condition with Kristen Ess versus regular drugstore shampoos. My hair feels softer and healthier. I do have course curly hair and my scalp does not get oily for several days. I’m not sure how it would affect other hair types. My favorite product thus far was the scalp scrub. It smells great and it does a great job of exfoliating my scalp. Other scrubs are in a large tub, this exfoliate has an applicator tip that makes it easier to apply directly to the scalp. I originally purchased the scrub because I was experiencing an issue with excessive flakiness one season which was not normal for me and after the scrub I didn’t experience this issue anymore.

I tried the shampoo and conditioner and really love both products. It smells great and is very effective and gentle on your hair. My hair is soft, smooth, and manageable after I use it.
I have tried a few color conditioners in the past, so I felt comfortable trying out their version of this. I used the dark mauve on medium brown hair, and it worked pretty much as expected - gave me a pinky tint all over. It wasn't as drastic and didn't last as long as I'd expected, but I liked it and thought it faded nicely.
I love Kristin Ess stuff. It's all so good! The products work so well with my color treated and frizz prone hair. I love the scent too. They smell perfume-y and definitely do linger but I love that part.
I absolutely love my Ultra Hydrating Curl Repair Mask by Kristin Ess. I use it about 2-3 times a month and it truly leaves my hair feeling so incredibly soft and manageable. The scent is so amazing, as well.
I have used Kristen Ess shampoo and conditioner. I like that I can buy the products at CVS and other convenient stores. I found that I had to double wash while using the shampoo for best results. The products smell good and are luxurious.
I have used their hairspray, dry shampoo, colonizing spray, and even there curling iron. I have to say I really enjoy the black ceramic curling iron and I always do make sure to buy the hairspray because I really enjoy it. I just buy the mini one because it lasts a long time.
The shampoo/conditioner line that comes in the pink bottle smells incredible. However, I noticed that after using it for a few months, I was consistently loosing large amounts of hair in the shower. If you have less sensitive skin, this might be for you because the price is fair. But to me it wasn't worth the long term hair loss.

their dry shampoo is ok. Does take a lot of shampooing to get it out after

I first discovered Kristen Ess at Target several years ago, and I’ve really enjoyed their products since then. They’re definitely a step up from the usual store-bought hair care. I’ve tried several of their products, including the clarifying shampoo, texturizing spray, hairspray, powder dry shampoo, and more recently, their gloss. I’ve liked all of them—each product feels a bit more high-end and fancy compared to other options you can find at places like Meijer.
The tagline is quite accurate, luxurious products at a very fair price
