Kristin Ess earns largely positive reviews for delivering salon-like results—softness, volume, and elevated scents—though performance varies by hair type. Strengths include standout texturizing and thickening sprays, effective purple shampoo/conditioner, and chic, pleasant-scented formulas; weaknesses surface around scalp tightness or dryness, heaviness and residue that’s hard to rinse, occasional frizz or flyaways, and mixed results from gloss/glaze and some conditioners.

  • I really like Kristin Ess hairspray. It has a nice smell to it and doesn't choke you when you put it on. It is easy to get out of your hair when you are shampooing it with Kristin Ess shampoo. I like to use both of these products. The hair spray holds without the helmet head feel. The shampoo is great for colored hair.
