Reviews mention

  • Nostalgic, evocative fragrances
  • Clean, minimalist packaging
  • Giftable, thoughtful concept
  • Reusable, sturdy glass vessels
  • Inconsistent scent accuracy
  • Soot-prone, messy burns
  • Occasionally weak fragrance throw
  • Overly strong, cloying notes

Homesick earns mixed reviews: the brand delights many with nostalgic, giftable scents and clean, minimalist packaging, but polarizing fragrances, inconsistent throw, and soot-prone burns raise doubts about quality. Reviews praise evocative options like Los Angeles, New York City, Houston, and Texas, yet note frequent “hit-or-miss” accuracy to locations, occasional headaches from intensity, faint longevity for some, and glass blackening that hinders reuse.

  • Such incredible gifts! I've never bought one myself, but I've received a couple and they are inherently so thoughtful and special. When my roommate and I moved out of our beloved apartment, she got me one with our address on that I'll cherish forever!

  • I love this brand because it has a thoughtful and really nice smelling gift for everyone. This was one of my favorite gifts because I was really missing my home and was given the candle of where my family was and I still enjoy burning it everyday.

  • I love the unique fragrances. The Leo candle definitely captures the spirit of the Leo soul. The fragrance lasts to the last drop. Sometimes the sandalwood or patchouli fragrance can overwhelm some of the scented candles.

  • Long time buyer - won’t be repurchasing . I have no idea what has happened to these candles in the past few years but the amount of black soot is absolutely appalling. The throw is almost non existent now. I keep the wicks trimmed and yet still black fallout into the hot wax making the $50 candle look like I bought it from the dollar tree. I’ll stick local from now on.

  • Expensive for what it is but love the concept and think it’s great for gifts!

I think the scents could be more refined. None of them wow me but are all nice basic scents. Also the shape of the glass holder curves in so the flame causes it to go black. Not very aesthetic once it’s burned a while

  • I've gotten one or two of these as gifts. They are cute but the gimmick is just that -- a gimmick. I feel like the fragrance doesn't always correlate with the city, but the candle is of decent quality.

  • I've been happy with the scents I've gotten so far and feel that they've been stronger / lasted longer than other candles I use. I like the simple branding and the shape of the glass container makes for easy repurposing into makeup brush holders or glasses.

  • I got the Houston candle as a gift last year, and I absolutely love it. It smells like an old fashioned Texas boutique gift shop. It's sufficiently potent without being overwhelming, and the scent is so comforting. I've since gifted both the Houston and Texas candles to my mom who relocated to LA, and she is obsessed with them! They're really great gifts for anyone who is, well - homesick.

I highly recommend trimming the wick on these! If not, they will throw off some serious smoke.

  • Love their Boston scent! Fills up a medium-sized room very nicely.

  • Homesick has good smelling candles. They don’t necessarily smell like the city they portray. The non-location based candles are more reflective. It was interesting to see Harry Potter themed candles in this way. I find the ingredients most upsetting. For the price, I would expect a candle that is not harmful for the consumer.

  • I never bought one of these candles, but I was in a small shop that had them for sale. It was my first time seeing this brand. I smelt quite a few of the candles and did not think much of them. They were all just your average candle I thought. Definetly pricey for a candle of that size. I would not purchase them as there are many other great candle options for cheaper.

  • I traditionally don't buy candles because I prefer diffusing essential oils instead. However, I make an exception for Homesick because they are great quality and they make the most thoughtful gifts! I have purchased from them at least 5 times and have been happy each time! The people I've gifted them to absolutely love it!

  • I bought a variety of these candles for three years now. its a really cute brand. The scents are amazing and the vessels are reuseable.

  • I lived in a house in the States where everyone including myself were not from the US. When we got introduced to Homesick, we each got a candle from where we were originally from. I personally loved my Australia one and also the Canada one.

  • Homesick's Texas candle is an absolute delight for anyone who wants to bring a bit of the Lone Star State into their home. The scent is warm and inviting, with notes of leather, pine, and sandalwood that instantly transport you to a cozy cabin in the woods. The candle's aroma is so comforting that it is perfect for unwinding after a long day or for setting the mood for a relaxing evening. However, the only downside is that it burns relatively quickly, and it would be nice if it lasted longer. Nonetheless, the overall quality of the candle is exceptional, with a clean burn and no overpowering synthetic fragrance. I would highly recommend Homesick's Texas candle to anyone who wants to experience the comforting aroma of the Lone Star State in their own home, just be prepared to reorder it frequently!

  • I love the idea behind this brand. Very innovative way to sell candles with a great ethos behind it. I sent this as a gift to a friend who said it perfectly encapsulated the scent of Australia. I would definitely recommend their brand to anyone looking for a gift with homey vibes.

Great diversity in scents offered. Very minimalistic in design and therefore can be suited to any interior design preference. Couldn't recommend them enough!

  • Such a cute idea and you really get a big candle for the price! I love reusing my candles as jars/containers.

  • This is such a fun and sweet candle brand for a transient society but the burn time and scents could be better. The fragrances are often pretty intense and can give me a headache after awhile.

  • I wouldn't say necessarily the highest quality, but the variety, and ability to find a cute label for the perfect gift is a huge quality for homesick candles! These feel like such a nice touch to send to friends/fam/co-workers.
