Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • I have been entertained by this game for years! It is the adult version of apples to apples and is not for the faint of heart. The judge asks a question and the players submit cards that answer the question. The judge picks the best (logical or funny) answer. The player that submitted it wins that round. Some of the card combinations that have been hilarious. To keep the game up with the times there are expansion packs and some of them even have themes.

  • This is a fun game! Great for anyone older 18 plus

  • CAH is a worthwhile modern mainstay in your board game collection. At this point, it's worth it to grab the expansion packs too to spice it up a bit - even the off-brand ones. At first, this game was all about the shock value, but now that that has worn off, this is simply a welcome classic to game night.

  • I love this game forever! It's definitely not family-friendly, but I think it's so so fun to play with friends. After years of playing, it's always fun to go back to.

  • I think there’s a reason even “not game people” play this game. It’s fun for everyone (er- over a certain age, perhaps?). Watching your aunt who works for a church say “c*nt” is an absolute treasure. Get wild, have some laughs. Their greeting cards are hilarious as well!

  • I thought this game was hilarious, it was my type of humor or close so it was enjoyable: played it with friends not family lol

  • "Cards Against Humanity" is a hilariously irreverent party game that thrives on shock value and dark humor. Players compete to create the most outrageous and politically incorrect combinations of cards, often resulting in fits of laughter and disbelief. The game's simplicity makes it easy to pick up and play, while its endless replayability ensures that each round brings fresh surprises. However, its content isn't suitable for everyone, as it can be offensive or inappropriate for some audiences. Overall, "Cards Against Humanity" is a perfect choice for those with a twisted sense of humor and a willingness to push the boundaries of social acceptability.

  • a silly game with silly cards and silly reactions from whomever you are playing with. i have played with people across different personalities and views of the world and this game never fails to both make it uncomfortable and hilarious at the same time. a tried and true classic.

  • I heard from somewhere that Cards Against Humanity supports individuals in the military and Peace Corps, and as a Peace Corps Volunteer, I tested the theory by emailing customer support. They were playful in response but lived up to the hype by shipping a free game to my home address! It was a very kind gesture! I had played the game before with friends, and it can be an absolute laugh riot depending on your level of tasteless humor (ours was fairly lowbrow). But the game relies on less skill than luck since players are dependent on what they have in their hands, which can often be unfunny gibberish that one has no option but to play (and probably lose the round). This game works best with alcohol because the fun can wear off after some time.

  • The brand itself is great, they put out many funny games or knick knacks (the menstruation crustacean rocks). Hooowever, Cards Against Humanity itself gets repetitive rather quickly, especially the more players you have. I understand there are expansion packs and other versions of the deck to add on, but reviewing the game on its own, it’s not a game I keep running back to.

  • Fun game to play with friends and family. After multiple times playing the cards can feel repetitive. Expansion packs can help with this!

  • This is a fun party game to pull out with large groups of friends. Surely NSFW, but we get a good giggle out of this every time we play. I like that they offer expansion packs and ways to add cards to the game.

  • LOVE this game, it honestly brings people together in a funny way. I love the packaging, I would definitely have it out at a get together with friends.

  • So fun to play in groups. Some explicit content, so not entirely family friendly—-but have a blast with friends!

  • Have had many fun nights playing this game.
