Reviews mention

  • Protein-rich pasta alternative
  • Surprisingly authentic texture
  • Flavorful frozen pizzas
  • Kid-approved crowdpleasers
  • Inconsistent noodle integrity
  • Sticky, mushy overcooking risk
  • Noticeable chickpea aftertaste
  • Clumpy long-cut spaghetti

Banza earns strong reviews as a high‑protein, gluten‑free swap that often tastes and chews close to traditional pasta and even delivers standout frozen pizzas, while many note it can overcook quickly, turn mushy or sticky, and some cuts feel fragile. Reviews of Banza praise the satisfying, protein‑dense pasta, kid‑friendly appeal, and tasty mac & cheese (notably White Cheddar), but flag inconsistent texture across shapes, occasional bitter/chickpea aftertaste, and spaghetti/linguine that clump or stay too firm.

  • I love Banza! Ideal for health conscious eaters. I’ve tried all the pastas almost and the pizza crust. All fantastic.

All companies can usually improve in their packaging. Banza should get rid of the window in its pasta boxes and forego the plastic packaging on the pizza crusts.

  • I have been eating Banza for years- flavor and texture are great, their boxed Mac'nCheese is delicious and I love it for a quick dinner when I don't have a lot of time to cook a whole meal. The pasta mixes well with different sauces and I've figured out the key for it to refrigerate well is to add olive oil while still hot when you put it in the container and stir- it won't stick into a big clump of pasta and it will reheat well.

  • Since I found out I was allergic to gluten 10 years ago it's been a journey trying different GF pizzas, pastas, breads, etc. Banza is the first GF pasta that I really, really love. I recognize that's not saying much because I haven't had glutinous pasta in 10 years. So, I have to share that >10 of my family/friends who do eat regular pasta prefer to use Banza because they like it so much. Their pasta is tasty and I feel taken care of as a consumer because of all the shapes they offer (cavatappi, gemelli, linguine, spaghetti, angel hair, etc.) since usually I only have 1-2 pasta shape options.

  • I don’t love how these cook, I prefer the texture/taste of Trader Joe’s brand brown rice and red lentil pastas.

  • This pasta is such a staple in weekly meal rotation! Really the best chickpea pasta out there IMO.

  • Love the branding of this companty and a big fan of their pasta! Usually plant-based pasta has a weird crumbly texture, but Banza is delicious and so versatile.

  • I tried Banza after receiving an offer for a free box of spaghetti. The high protein content was a plus but I ended up disliking the texture. It’s great that it’s gluten free but unless I’m cooking for gluten sensitive folks I’d rather go with a high protein wheat pasta.

  • Banza is a great HEALTHY alternative to traditional pasta. Obviously, it doesn't taste like a one-for-one swap, but it's a great alt considering the nutritional content. I find it's an easy way to get more fiber into my diet.

  • Pretty good pasta! I feel like this was all the rage a few years ago because it was some of the first of its kind (in terms of “healthy”, protein-packed pasta) to break the market. Now there’s so many different options and this one kind of takes the back seat for me. It also gets soggy pretty fast.

  • Nice to have a low glycemic pasta option that also helps me reach my protein goals. The taste takes a bit to get used to, but it's not wildly different than pasta. Just a bit earthier. The texture is different too, gets stuck in your teach more than normal pasta which is surprisingly my least favorite part. Slather on sauce and you will barely notice the difference, plus you'll avoid the sugar crash that happens after a normal pasta lunch. Enjoy.

  • I really wanted to like Banza more, as someone on the hunt for higher protein and fiber pasta options. Since Banza is made of chickpeas, the texture doesn't quite compare to regular wheat-based options, and there is an aftertaste that I find offputting when eating with a light-flavored sauce. You definitely taste it less in a stronger tomato sauce or cream sauce, but definitely not suited for something light like a pesto or garlic and olive oil sauce. But it feels healthy, if that feeling is enough for you to keep buying and eating it. It is probably the most accessible type of pasta in this category, sold in most US supermarkets and at Costco, so perhaps they will have more incentive to improve the products down the line.

  • I gad to go gluten free (rip) and in the process found Banza. What I like about this brand over other GF pasta options is that it is packed with protein as well!! I am always trying to add more protein in my diet and this is a sneaky way to do it. Banza has become a staple in my pantry.

  • I've never had the pizza but the pasta is pretty solid for gluten free. Definitely made of chickpeas, flavour wise, but I really don't mind that. The mac and cheese is also solid.

  • This isn’t the best pasta. It takes forever to cook and the taste and texture isn’t very good. There are better gluten free pastas than this.

  • I love this brands pasta. It taste the same as normal pasta, but with better benefit to it than normal pasta. Would recommend.

  • Very good GF option, only downside is that it gets less nice as it cools so no leftovers and you have to eat it promptly

  • I was pleasantly surprised by this pasta. A bit gummy, but a great alternative (chickpeas) over flour.

  • Banza pasta is so frustrating to cook. It never seems to be done when the box says it should be, and the texture doesn't hold up well with sauces. IMO it's not worth buying if you want gluten free pasta that cooks easily and pairs nicely with your favorite sauces.
