Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
The only thing that made me pull the trigger was a rare warehouse sale with significant discount. They're quite pricey, and with a lack of knowledge on luggage standards, it was hard for me to validate the investment. When I received my khaki-colored Larger Carry-On, I was genuinely happy with the look and performance. I've had it for 2 years now without any noticeable damage or decrease in performance. Their accessories are way too expensive for me to commit to an entire AWAY Travel set (packing cubes, Check-In Bag, etc.).
Feedback
I haven't had enough luggage to justify the price for Away's quality. If anything, I'd love more accessible price points for their travel accessories.
I LOVE my suitcases.
Feedback
They are great quality and functional. Excellent customer service.
The luggage does it’s job and looks cute, but definitely scratches up really fast. I definitely think it’s over priced for the poly carbonate material, but the duffels are really great. The shoe pocket on the bottom is so clutch! The bonus is the free repairs but sometimes they’re really backed up and it takes awhile to get your item back in tip top shape.
Feedback
The polycarbonate suitcases are way over priced, it’s all expensive but those are pointedly too much for what you get.

Don't love the carry-on due to the lack of computer case in the front (until recently when they added a pouch that looks like an afterthought). I do have the large suitcase that has worked well on rare occasions I had to check a bag.
Feedback
Would love a easy zip exterior pocket that's more built into the carry-on so it doesn't look like a strange stick-on laptop case.
Love my Away carry-on :) It’s lasted me through multiple international trips, looks great, and is much cheaper than a Rimowa.

More exclusive colors?
This is my go to for traveling- I have both the carry on and the medium size. I love the green colorway. Overall, these are great hard case luggage options but there are some details that could be improved in production. One of which is the zipper and wheel quality- both have started to deteriorate quicker than other luggages that I have owned.

It's fine. Good. Not sure how differentiated.

Go crazier with some designs and colors!
I have the largest suitcase (which I bought without realising just how huge it is) and have no complaints. It could probably fit enough clothes to last me a month, and the compression system works really well. The outer shell feels cheap-ish, but it's quite durable. Not obsessed with how easily it scratches though - I've used it maybe 6-7 times and the suitcase already looks pretty beaten up.
Feedback
Would be great to be able to personalise the suitcase completely, down to the colours of the zips.
I've had my suitcase for many years and it is holding up great!

a little expensive, but has proved its worth.

I hhave the metal medium suitcase. It gets dented superrrr easily but i don't mind that look. Looking forward to buying more sizes. also i returrned my first back in the first 100 days, and it's true, no questions were asked even after some use, wear and tear.

The organisers are kinda overpriced.

Love the suitcase: durable, flexible to an extent, packs well.

Everyone and their mother has one (or so it seems!). Its a good problem for Away to have but I wonder if there are ways to customize each suitcase so they stand out a bit more? Less on the embroidery side, more on the "here's a quick way to identify your blue Away suitcase at the baggage claim among the ~15+ other ones...".
I don't dislike the products in general but the founders seem to embody all that is wrong in startup culture these days. I own two backpacks that are great and I don't want to substitute but I gave away my suitcase (and bought a Rimowa one) because I'm not aligned with their values as a company.
Feedback
I think that there are better options out there.
A sleek and dependable suitcase that is roomy and simple to use.

I wish their products were just a bit more affordable.

I got my carry on as a graduation gift and have used and loved it for 7 years now. A little scruffier on the outside from checking it pretty often but the inside looks brand new. Great suitcase and a good investment. I like the portable charger but beware you have to take it out before checking it.
My absolute favorite suitcase. It's been all over the world with me on some truly questionable airlines and no matter what it's put through it has sustained no damage. I will only travel with this suitcase.

I bought my away cary on in the original drop many years ago... The bag has since been slightly redesigned but the quality remains the same! They are great - just very popular now so make sure you have a clear name tag as to not get yours confused with someone elses!
I have a carry-on from Away and love it! It's sturdy, compact, and reliable. The color selection is great too.

It is a bit pricey but it's definitely a nice suitcase with a good lock that protects your belongings when you travel - I have aluminum and it's important for me that if I do put something fragile inside it doesn't get smashed when they're throwing it around in the airport. It's not the most useful if you're looking for a lightweight suitcase because metal will always be heavier that plastic so that's something to consider before purchasing. It will get scratches and small dents which is in my opinion not so great but than on the other hand it's just something that will happen to any suitcase.
I’ve had an away suitcase for 5 years now and it’s held up better than any suitcase I’ve ever had. Being able to compress one side of clothing allows me to pack more than most cases. Their customer service is also amazing. A piece broke off recently and they sent me a new one right away even though it’s over 4 years old. Highly recommend the quality is unmatched.
Long lasting, yes. Easily scuffed? Also a yes. I don't think I will purchase again.
