Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

I’ve been using the bigger carryon for trips up to about one week for almost two years, and I have yet to find a problem with the suitcase. It has to be gate checked on most smaller planes, but that’s a smooth process. It’s durable, rolls smoothly on a variety of surfaces and is really easy to organize.

I love these suitcases. They are chic and durable, plus they come with a lifetime warranty. The only reason I am not giving them a 5/5 is because the carry-on with the soft pouch on the outside does not actually fit anything, or if I do put things in it and am flying in a small plane, it will not fit in the overhead compartment.

I've regularly used my The Bigger Carry-On: Aluminum Edition bag, and while it has picked up some dings, it still looks great - if anything, I think the marks are charming. I find the brand is still tainted by the toxic workplace scandal, and there are near infinite other luggage options out there, so I have no desire to purchase anything else from them.

I love my away bag! I got the larger carry on in green and have not had any issues. the most important part in my opinion is the roll abilities and this baby rollllls. Update: we do travel alot and actually purchased the smaller carry on bag as well. The zipper unfortunately did break after 2 years with the first one. Still a great bag though.

My suitcases have been through a lot and they are still standing after several years. However, the wear and tear shows. I've got dings and dents all over the suitcase. Away customer service does a good job responding to my emails whenever something is broken and has even sent me a replacement part. So far their statement of lifetime guarantee has proven true. I would buy their stuff again, but probably in a darker color so it doesn't show all the scratch marks. I have the large and the carry-on, but the large is too big. It's got so much room Im always over the weight limit. I wish I had gotten the medium instead.

I have mixed feelings on my away bag. They are cute and have become somewhat of a cult item- but I'm not convinced they are worth the price. All my girlfriends have these bags in different colors and I will say those with darker colors are happiest. I have the large carry on- and love that you really can pack for a week/10days lightly in it- but its still a good size for a weekend trip too. I have only once HAD to check because of size on Norwegian Air. You can put 2-3 pairs of shoes, a ton of clothes, and toiletries. I like the inside lining of the bag which has a zipper in the middle- it allows you to put something kind of dirty separate from your clothes/close to the shell or to hide something private. The bag also comes with a laundry bag that again you can attach with a clip, and keep things neat and separate. The mesh zipped section is strong, and the section to put your clothes with the flat piece really allows you to compress a big stack of clothes- better than other bags I have used. The bag rolls well and is easy to handle in any situation which is great- you can easily go from pulling to rolling on 4 wheels to ever pushing easily. The handles are strong! I also got the matching backing cubes which are find, but kind of small and overpriced compared to other things on the market. TBH- I have put this bag through the wringer and it has survived, so I think that's a win. I cant believe it hasn't exploded with how much I stuff in there.

I got the white color with black trim- big mistake. They people at the store said it would stay clean easily... however that's not really true. It gets scuffed every time you have to check and you can see the grimy stuff on the bottom from bringing it through the streets... which I would prefer to ignore if possible. Ignorance is bliss with NYC sludge. I really wanted my initials on the bag but was in a bit of a rush to get it- and that takes a few weeks- and they will not take your bag back to do it after the fact. Additionally- my biggest frustration is probably that the bag is really loud... which sounds crazy but when you roll it down the NYC street it clacks SO loud which irritates me a lot... other bags do not do this, so im not sure what the deal is. Final complaint- the charging battery never stays in and they make you take it out in the airport anyway. Mine popped out SO many times while rolling around from a bad close not he container and so I just stopped bothering and have eventually lost it. However... it was a really good and strong second battery. Maybe they have worked on this since I got it 2.5 yrs ago! Overall- pricey compared to other options on the market- so really just a consideration of how much you want to pay. There are great similar options on Amazon and from other companies that may be similar in quality.

Received a carry on size Away suitcase for my birthday a few years back and have gotten so much use out of the bag. Although the color I have does show scuff marks, all the zippers, pouches, and straps still work perfectly, and I really appreciate having the portable charger when I am traveling. I do think the quality matches the price point here and don't have any complaints about the suitcase.

Maybe opt for a darker color so wear and tear doesn't show as obviously.

I give this bag a relatively high rating simply because it's survived multiple years of (pre-pandemic) frequent use. It's a good size, able to handle more than a week's clothing or easily a long weekend or wedding for two. But I'm not sure if the bag counts as great value otherwise. Mine got quickly marked up with scratches from normal use; the battery, needing to be removed from flights, ended up something I haven't bothered to bring with me for years.

The bag shows scuffs and scratches very easily.

Spotted this here just when it was about to be my mom’s bday so me and my sister got it for her since she was always complaining about her old one. She won’t even travel with this. She says it a stay at home luggage. lol I wonder if they also carry those plastic covers b/c I’m pretty sure she’s scared she’ll scuff it especially how they handle bags at the airport. Super nice luggage. I want one for myself.

I have Carry On, Medium Suitcase, and Packing Cubes and have been using them as my only suitcases since 2018. They have great customer service with a lifetime warranty, meaning when my suitcase got dented, I brought it into the store and traded it in for a new one for free. I love how much I can fit into them and the way that they move around spaces. Their packing cubes are designed to fit perfectly into their suitcases and make it super easy to travel for long periods of time

I love Away! I got the full sized suitcase as a gift and I got the matching smaller carry-on one year later because I loved my first one so much. They roll extremely smoothly and are relatively quiet for a suitcase. It's very solid - since I have been slowly moving across continents for the past few years, I frequently packed very breakable items and almost everything has made it intact. I also love love love the colours available, I have the teal blue colour and I am still obsessed even years later. They are very worth the money. And I love that they come with dust bags and sponges to protect your investment. Update: when an airline broke the wheel off of my Away carry-on recently, I sent it to the company and they replaced it for me free of charge and with a really fast turnaround time - great customer service!

The one negative is that the straps for the compression part are not very long, so I don't actually find that there is much room for compression, because the piles sort of have to be small enough to fit in the suitcase in general in order to even use the compression.

If I were to describe this brand...it would be this. Away is the Rolls-Royce of suitcases and the PT Cruiser for customer service...from afar it looks cool, but up close it's pretty ugly. I was excited to receive this as a Christmas gift but was disappointed to realize it didn't have the USB charger. I emailed customer support and they walked me through the exchange process...which was supposed to be pretty simple- it wasn't. After over a month of waiting, I finally emailed them to ask if they had received my suitcase so I could exchange it...weeks later they responded saying they didn't know where it was. I understand things happen and the mailing system ebbs and flows. But it was disappointing to have not been notified throughout the process and if felt like a part-time job to hound down customer support. I don't believe they would have followed up with me had I not been persistent. Very unfortunate for such a high-price item.

I was given the aluminum small suitcase as a birthday present and it’s the best suitcase I’ve ever owned. It’s super robust and protects absolutely everything inside, it’s the perfect carry on. In general AWAY have set the precedent for successful DTC businesses.

Their content could be more aspirational in terms of travel, I’d love to see more guides to cities, countries and experiences.

I've had my carry on suitcase for almost 10 years now and it's held up through it all. I've thrown it down 3 flights of stairs (accidentally), squished WAY too much clothing in it countless times, taken it through 10+ countries on 30+ flights a year, through subways, cobblestone roads, and more. This year one wheel has become slightly busted and I want to send it in for a fix, as it has a lifetime warranty, but they require the receipt (which 10 years later, I don't have anymore). I also wish it was easier to clean, I got the white suitcase and even the mr. clean magic eraser isn't helping. Would recommend a dark color.

There is a reason the Away bags continue to be one of the top choices for travel. They are incredibly sturdy, highly mobile and easy to tote around in your travels.

By far my favorite luggage brand. I love the compression side and am able to fit more in this suitcase than any other one I’ve used or tried. Years later and ive added a few more to my collection, will always buy from away!

I am on my second bigger away carry on bag in forest green. I travel for work and pleasure so after two years the zipper broke. I was able to provide the email used to purchase the bag originally and they sent me a new one! That was about a year ago and the new one is still going strong.

I have the aluminum carry on and I get compliments absolutely everywhere I go! Not only is it stylish, it fits everything I need and I don’t have any issues with it. Customer service is amazing as well.

The minute the airlines forced me to check my carry on and I got off the plane, the aluminum carry on had a huge dent in it that’s there forever. A total eyesore but I still love my luggage.

I got the white carry-on and it has survived multiple international + domestic trips. Yes, it does scratch and get dirty easily, but I knew that was a possibility when I chose the white one. Overall it's more of a status/Instagram symbol than the world's best luggage, but I don't regret the purchase. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could.

Wish it had an external pocket for laptops and easy grabbables. My charger battery also got stuck inside the shell once and made for a stressful experience at the terminal. The battery has become such a nuisance (and is quite heavy) that I've resorted to just taking it out when I travel, which is a shame bc that was one of my favorite features when Away first launched.

Using AWAY has been like traveling with a cloud, soooo comfortable and amazing! I had a tire issue after 30 minutes of them not having the tire replacement I was given a new suitecase and I was on my way.
