A Dozen Cousins crafted different flavored seasoned meals cooked with avocado oil. 

Growing up, our kitchen was a delicious melting pot of Creole, Caribbean, and Latin American cooking. As I got older and learned the importance of eating naturally, I hated that it was so hard to find convenient foods that were both healthy and authentic. I started A Dozen Cousins so that it would be easier to enjoy authentic cultural recipes made with whole ingredients.

P.S. The brand name is inspired by my daughter, her 11 cousins, and all the great family dinners we enjoy together. Also, it's really fun to say ;)

A Dozen Cousins provides a convenient, high-protein rice and beans product with clean ingredients which is easy to prepare and versatile in pairing. While the product is loved for its convenience and nutritional value, the flavor profile and texture have received mixed reviews. Some customers find the flavor lacking or not to their personal preference, and have reported issues with the texture of the rice being hard or clumpy. I'm never really sure what to do with rice packaged like this since I don't use a microwave, I usually make fried rice with it.  In this case, it tastes good, but the grains flew out of the pan when it hit the hot oil.  Most people probably don't have to deal with that though, do what you will with this information.  

I tried the Spanish yellow rice and some precooked chicken and black beans for a quick burrito bowl & it was delicious! I microwaved the rice & beans together then topped with avocado, cheese, lime creama, and salsa. The rice was super flavorful,  I love that it has added collagen and minerals from the bone broth. 

Clean ingredients for a quick meal, the Cuban Black Beans are a staple in my household!

I loved this rice! I like that it’s shelf stable, mindfully crafted and especially love it’s made with bone broth! I didnt microwave it and liked the taste

Love the beans! Super easy to make and has great flavor. Always my go to for burritos. 

On the other hand I am not the biggest fan of their rice. I love that they use bone broth to get some extra protein. But I have found them to be pretty dry and not very flavorful. 

I tried the Spanish Yellow Bone Broth Rice. It was easy to make but I could do without the plastic. I also get that the push is that there's added protein, but I would be happy with a vegetable broth option.

Ready to eat rice is not the best thing in the world but this rice is not that average either. The flavor was just off, the texture was bad. The rice smelled like rotten food to me.

I came acros A Dozen Cousins in the grocery store recently and picked up their Cuban black beans, which were flavorful without being overly salty. I bought them to use in some tacos I was making. I found they heated up easily and had a nice texture. I would try them again. 

The rice has great flavor and pairs well with a variety of dishes.
