Soylent draws polarized reviews: the brand reliably delivers convenient, nutrient-dense meal replacements that keep many users reasonably full on the go, yet taste and texture often disappoint. Reviews credit flavors like Creamy Chocolate, Banana, Mint, and Strawberry as standouts and note plant-based, non-dairy accessibility, but cite chalky thickness, strong aftertaste, occasional GI upset (linked to allulose), inconsistent satiety as a full meal, and packaging quirks like hard-to-open caps and easy-to-tear wraps.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
I love Soylent. I have been supporting the brand since it’s Kickstarter days. Over the years the product has been optimized and it is now better than it has ever been. My favorite flavor is Creamy Chocolate. I drink one bottle of Soylent for breakfast and it keeps me full until lunch. I appreciate that it has all the essential vitamins and minerals to help keep me in balance. Soylent will always be a favorite of mine.
Feedback
I absolutely will admit Soylent is not for everyone. I was fortunate that even the early iteration of original Soylent tasted great to me. It has only improved since then plus the addition of flavors. They sell it at grocery stores now so I would recommend anyone new just buy one bottle to test out and see if it’s right for you.
Several years ago I substituted my lunch for a bottle of Soylent for a month to try out the product. They taste okay for what they are, but it didn't generally satisfy my hunger. For a meal replacement, they're better than other similar liquid products I've tried but I wouldn't rely on them.
Had the vanilla and didn't enjoy the flavor or consistency/texture.
I was specifically using their chai Soylent for a couple months to help replace breakfasts on busy mornings when I first started my job. Overall, I liked the flavor but I ended up falling off their subscription because their delivery windows didn't make sense to me.
Feedback
The subscription delivery windows don't line up with an actual week (e.g. every 12 days instead of every 14 days). It would be more helpful if it was aligned with a 7-day week so I didn't have to potentially overlap or go a few days without.

I used to be such a massive fan of Soylent but at some point, their entire value system completely shifted so they could fit into retail. The flavors also changed as well - while the Coffee Soylent was a great alternative to other RTD coffees for me, the increase in price just made it not worth it as neither a protein shake or coffee. A disappointing evolution to a great product.
As a meal replacement drink, I felt that it was not filling enough to completely swap out food and not get hungry. The taste was also very average. Could see this really being catered more towards a workforce that does not have the time to munch on a quick snack or meal.

I tried the chocolate flavor and enjoyed it! Nothing too crazy, just a pleasant experience. Helps me fit in a meal when I'm busy in meetings all day.
Feedback
Price is up there so definitely not a daily product.

My partner and I tried drinking these as a meal alternative for days that we didn't want to cook. I think it's fine every once in awhile, but made us both feel icky after having it once a day a few days in a row. Some of the flavors are not great. We enjoyed the mocha and chai the most.
I tried several times to like these products, but unfortunately they just weren't for me.
Feedback
I think some people may like the taste but it just didn't fit my preference and I couldn't get into it.
I've had these since 2015. Gets the job done and happy to see more flavors but prob won't try again since theres so many other awesome brands. However, Soylent is a true pioneer in the space!

less chalky texture
Tried these looking for an easy and quick breakfast or lunch replacement. They’re relatively filling, but I wasn’t a fan of the texture/flavour.
Honestly pretty solid. Don’t know why these get a bad rep but would definitely drink these regularly if I was looking for a meal replacement. The flavored ones taste pretty good and it’s an easy, on the go solution.

Packaging, more sustainable, and more health benefits
I'm actually usually very sceptical of meal replacement drinks and have never particularly liked protein shakes either (I generally add bananas, honey, oats etc to pad them out a bit so they taste better) Bought a few bottles of Soylent to try in 2020 during the pandemic (bought in Tesco) and tried the Chocolate and Vanilla as those were the only ones I could find at the time and was pleasantly surprised. There was definitely a specific aftertaste (could be the Soy) which I haven't experienced with other meal replacement drinks like Huel but it wasn't bad at all. I'd definitely be interested to try their other flavours now they have a bunch of them out and after checking their website they've just released a Chai which I would definitely be interested to try if I can find it. The main problem with Soylent is that the pre-mixed ones are pretty expensive per-bottle so to have one every day it would definitely add up and if you like pre-mixed over powders (like I do) then it gives you a decision to make. Definitely the best of the meal replacement drinks I've tried and so would recommend it if you're after one.
Feedback
Prices can be quite high for the pre-mixed bottles – but the subscription model on their site can help with that if you like the taste enough. I like the branding a lot, prefer it to Huel. Have only tried Vanilla and Chocolate flavours and both were nice.

When I first tried Soylent, all they had was the Original flavor Soylent Powder. Since then, they've stepped up their game. They now have ready to drink bottles — in so many delicious flavors. They also now sell 'square bars'
Feedback
I believe there are only two things that could improve Soylent. Make their products a bit more affordable. Or better yet, create powder mixes of all the flavors they feature as drink bottles.

It’s okay. I would drink it as a once in a while thing and not to replace my regular nutrition. More like as an urgent “I don’t have time to eat” product. It has not given me gastrointestinal distress as I have heard it has done to some people. It is somewhat filling. I’ve tried chocolate, banana, mint chocolate, and strawberry and none of them are objectionable.

Don't get this if you care about how your food tastes. This gets you the calories you need, but it has the consistency of chalky, thick cereal and is hard to get through.
Keeps me full for a good amount of time however I do not love any of the flavors.

Flavor
Not something I would purchase again, but it does what it’s supposed to. Good for times in college when there’s no time for a real meal, but not necessarily enjoyable.
Product was really good for many years but for some reason they decided to swap out another ingredient and add allulose, which as many others have noted gives a good portion of people upset stomachs. If Soylent reads this please take out the allulose! You'll make many people very happy.
Didn't get the chance to even try the product because their shipping process is so slow. Beware of the free shipping...it'll take weeks to get your order.
