  • Vibrant, fresh tomato flavor

  • Thick, satisfying sauce texture
  • Clean, simple ingredient lists
  • Overly lemony, pithy notes
  • Occasionally too sweet profile
  • Heat intensity inconsistent
  • Higher calories and sodium

Sauz earns strong reviews for delivering fresh-tasting, uniquely flavored jarred sauces that many consider among the best they’ve tried, with standouts like Hot Honey Marinara, Summer Lemon Marinara, Wild Rosemary, Cracked Pepper Parmesan, and Creamy Calabrian Vodka requiring little to no doctoring. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: certain flavors can skew too sweet, too spicy, or overly lemony/pithy, and several cite high calories and salt along with a consistently high price that limits repeat buys.

  • I purchased the original combo pack through a Thingdrop. Both the sauces are pretty tasty and very different. I personally liked the hot honey arrabbiata more than the summer lemon, but both were enjoyable and very flavorful. They taste very fresh - especially the summer lemon marinara. If you're a lemon fan or a sour-profile fan, you'll love this sauce. The hot honey arrabbiata was the right amount of spicy and was lovely with the honey. I really liked that the sauces had small chunks of the ingredients, which were fun surprises. A big drawback is that it's very pricey - the current options are 2-pack ($29.99 so $15/jar) or 4-pack ($49.99 so $12.50/jar) and currently, shipping is only free for orders > $70, so it's only really worth it if you buy two 4-packs, which means that you really have to know that you already like it. It's a pretty big roadblock for first-time buyers, so my advice to the business would be to offer a cheaper price for the original combo pack, or at least free shipping. While they are generally good sauces, I still prefer others that are also great quality while being less expensive, such as Michael's of Brooklyn. For Sauz, it feels like you are mostly paying for snazzy branding that isn't fully fleshed out - it seems like the founders saw the success of Graza and are trying to emulate that. I understand it's a new brand, but it also feels that way. The website has gotten some more details and pages since I've tried the Thingdrop, but still has some issues. Overall, I do know that this company will only get better over time, and it really is a great effort from two young entrepreneurs.

  • I was very excited to try Sauz and am happy to report they make an excellent red sauce (I've only tried the hot honey arrabbiata so far). That said, the cost is high (~$15/jar) if you're someone who knows how to add depth and flavor when making their own sauce. It's also worth considering how you're going to use this sauce. We had it with fresh beet raviolis, and while it was absolutely delicious in contrast to the sweet beet filling, it got me thinking that this sauce is best when used with dried pasta and made to be the star of the dish. I also felt the texture was rather thick, so experiment with how much sauce you use before you pour the whole thing onto the stove. We could have easily used half the amount. This is great when considering cost per use and getting the most meals for your bucks. Overall a nice sauce that deserves to be on the shelves with similar-price-point brands.

  • So, so delicious! I LOVED the summer lemon - like no other sauce I've ever tasted. I love lemon and this sauce was wayyy beyond my expectations. The hot honey was nice too - we used it as a pizza sauce and it was delicious that way, though the sweet is a little distracting. Would definitely purchase again! Loved the all-cardboard shipping, too! So easy to recycle.

  • These sauces were great! I love how they were a different take on the classic pasta sauces, and they had a lot more flavor than the usual store-bought sauces. The aesthetic of the bottles is a plus too!

  • I ordered the multi pack, but so far I have only tried the Lemon Marinara. The lemon hits you as soon as you open the jar, and the flavor is just as prominent. I made a simple pasta with ground beef, onions, garlic, parmesan and this sauce and it was great. The lemon adds a really nice difference that I haven't tasted in any store bought brand and it cuts through the richness. I think my biggest complaint is the amount of packaging to ship two bottles. I almost feel uncomfortable and maybe even a little guilty ordering online again, but I would definitely buy again if I found it in the store.

  • I received an offer for a free jar and decided to try it out! I usually make my own pasta sauce because the store bought kind is lackluster but Sauz did not disappoint. They have unique recipes that are bold and flavorful. I’ve tried a few different kinds and hot honey marinara is my favorite so far.

  • Sauz is amazing. I've tried several flavors and they all taste great. Personal fave is the hot honey marinara. The packaging is sleek and the flavors are interesting enough to justify the high price point.

  • I've only tried the Rosemary flavored sauce as it was on sale at Whole Food and wowza - was expecting to be let down (because the products with the cutest, trendiest labels tend to do that) but this sauce was delicious. And for the sale price of $5-6 was absolutely worth the buy. It packs a ton of flavor in, and makes even the most rudimentary pasta dish taste like an elevated experience. I can only speak to the rosemary flavor for now, but am definitely keen on trying the rest of their sauces.

  • DOOODE. Sauz is amazing. It's my go-to for pasta sauce because it taste SO GOOD and doesn't have shitty ingredients in it. On top of it, I love the marinara twist they did with their hot honey flavor. So innovative and fun!

  • Super tasty and flavorful. Compared to other jarred pasta sauces, I think that Sauz really sets itself apart. I tried the hot honey flavor and it was very good! I will have to try the other flavors soon.

  • Delicious, amazing sauce. I got to try the lemon one in-store and it blew my mind. I’m not normally a citrus with pasta person, but this is now a pantry staple for me.

  • Enjoyed both flavors! Packaging was fun, as well. I love lemon so no complaints there and also love spice! Will be purchasing in store if I see them in TN.

  • My husband will usually eat anything, but he told me not to repurchase. I wanted to like these so badly, but the flavors just felt off to me. I am not sure why. The honey was a little strong and that threw off the overall taste. The shipping for them was so secure though!

  • I am blown away with Sauz! The packaging and branding are beautiful and modern. So far I have only tried the Summer Lemon Marinara but it is absolutely delicious! A perfect addition to any summer pasta. The lemon flavor is super lemony and zesty. Even my fiancé remarked how much he loved it!

  • I tend to stay away from jarred sauces but I will say this stuff is GOOD! I tried the summer lemon on an eggplant parm and I LOVED how lemony it was, and the leftovers were even better! However, $15 for a jar of tomato sauce is.... steep. If you're someone who hates cooking this could be great for you as it is DELICIOUS but for me I will stick to making my own!
