Reviews mention

  • Luxurious signature fragrances
  • Effective clarifying shampoo
  • Lightweight, shine-boosting hair oil
  • Versatile, high-performing stylers
  • Overpowering fragrance intensity
  • Inconsistent shampoo performance
  • Occasional drying, buildup issues
  • Fussy, inconvenient packaging

Ouai earns largely positive reviews for effective staples like Detox Shampoo, Leave-In Conditioner, hair oil, Air Dry Foam, and Wave Spray that leave hair clean, lightweight, shiny, and well‑scented. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: overly strong, lingering fragrance that irritates sensitive scalps, hit‑or‑miss performance on shampoos/conditioners and masks (drying, buildup, or just “meh”), and occasional packaging frustrations (stiff conditioner bottles, finicky sprayers).

  • Smells so good and the leave in conditioner is so good it makes your hair so silky

  • the best scent in an affordable and effective product. love it

  • I love ouai shampoo and conditioner. What I love most about is that you don’t need to put a lot of it in your hair. You can put a little and you can still get the full effects of it. And also it smells amazing one of my favorites.

  • I liked their detox shampoo(used maybe 1per week) and leave in conditioner.

  • Wow is all I can say!!! I’ll admit that I only bought it after finding out the founder is one of the hairstylists for the kardashians but it was worth every penny and I will definitely be buying again!! It holds so well and unlike other similar products, it doesn’t make my hair look greasy, just perfect for a neat sleek hair look

  • I haven't tried all of their products but I LOVE their Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave In. It is my travel life saver. I take it with me on trips as it helps keep my hair feeling soft and hydrated. It really is the best detangled and leave in I've ever used. It also smells amazing.

  • (Products used: Thick Hair line) Love the lather the shampoo gives and leaves my hair feeling healthy. The hair mask smells amazing and it actually lasts a while! The texture is very thick so it could be difficult to apply to dry hair. I always try to dampen my hair a bit. It doesnt leave my hair oily ( some people said this but I think it has to do with your hair texture/ scalp health)

  • Ouai Detox Shampoo - really can tell the difference it makes within my hair and makes it feel so much cleaner & lighter, good for using before a heavy hair mask Ouai Leave-In Conditioner - has the best coconut smell that lasts for a long time on my hair, is not a need when detangling or brushing my hair but is a nice to have when you want to treat yourself

  • The products were fine (I tried the fine hair shampoo and conditioner as well as the wave spray) but the scent was so overpowering I couldn’t use the products.

  • I love that the shampoo works well for my sensitive hair type. No harsh chemicals or scents.

Received a free product from Ouai
  • I first bought the oil a few years back because I fell in love with the scent, despite the fact that my hair is too fine for hair oil. I ended up using it on my body instead of my hair, and the scent is just divine. I have since bought the hairspray and the Melrose Place perfume. I have nothing bad to say about this brand. Buy their stuff if you want to be “that girl”, for sure.

  • My hair felt like Hay. Bleached, curly, super damaged from trying to save money and bleach it myself and then having to have it fixed professionally. I tried the whole entire line of Olaplex, Expensive shampoo/conditioners, K18, moisture masks, protein masks and my hair STILL felt like straw. Until this! My hair is just past my shoulders. I've been oiling every day for about a week to 10 days, 3 pumps. Its finally feeling soft like it's not going to crisp off at any second. 10/10 recommend this stuff. I hate strong smells, especially flowery. This smells good and has a soft scent. It is floral tho.

  • My go to hair care brand. A good price for a quality product, I use the medium hair shampoo and conditioner as well as the hair oil and the leave in conditioner. I wish they would bring by the Byredo leave in conditioner collaboration. The detox shampoo is a must have for getting out excess purple shampoo and for sweaty days during the summer. Everything smells AMAZING especially the dog shampoo which leaves the pups smelling amazing for days. Also love the sustainability from the products being refillable.

The body wash is a little drying and the wave spray can be drying. If it doesn’t work for you the first time make sure you have the right hair type selected, Iv found with the right hair type selected it works very well. Some of the letters on the bottles do tend to rub off in the shower if you refill the bottles a few times.

  • I have been using the Ouai hair oil for about 10 months now. I always put 2 pumps (I have medium to long hair) on my hair after I wash it and before I dry it. I have definitely noted its hydrating and protective effects. My hair is much less prone to heat-caused damage and it's also much more shiny and healthy-looking. I'd definitely recommend others to purchase the Ouai hair oil; it is an investment, but it is a worth one, I promise! And last but not least, the scent is actually really beautiful AND the oil does not weigh your hair down AT ALL.

  • It's pretty great and helps my very fine hair lay nicely. I don't have to put in much extra product after washing. Unfortunately it doesn't look clean for long, but that's a common fine hair problem (usually solved with some mix of sea salt spray and volumizer)

  • I use the clarifying shampoo as well as the leave in conditioner and love it so much! I have very oily hair and since using the shampoo nave noticed that my hair doesn't get super oily fast. The leave in conditioner is great doesn't weigh down my hair. Plus it smells so good!

  • So I have purchased (at Sephora) and tried several of the Ouai products (shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask for medium hair; scalp and body scrub, body creme, rose scalp and body oil, scalp serum, pomade, Thick and Full dietary supplement) The shampoo and conditioner smell wonderful but don't do anything spectacular for my hair. The hair mask does a nice job but again, nothing that blows me away. I love the Melrose Place scent of the scrub and the body creme but have developed a sensitivity to it. The last time I used them I broke out in a rash all over my body. I had to use hydrocortizone to stop the itching. The scalp and body oil was a no-go for me all the way around. It made my hair so oily it was disgusting. And that rash that I got with the scrub and creme was 10x worse with the oil. That rash lasted for days. I do like the scalp serum and the dietary supplement. I personally think I get the same results from the supplement as I get with Nutrafol and Ouai is cheaper.

Maybe a fragrance free line for people who are sensitive to the fragranced lines.

  • I absolutely love this brand. I have been using Pureology for most of my life but ever since making the switch to Ouai my hair has finally gone back to its original thickness and it looks healthier than ever. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has thicker hair that has a lot of texture!

  • I’ve used the shampoo and the conditioner. I have medium thick, wavy hair, nothing crazy. These products are good, but Walgreens -type-of-good. Had I bought them at Walgreens or Target for a reasonable price, I’d probably give them 3-4 stars. But for something that’s so hyped and expensive, it does not deliver. The longer you use the shampoo, the drier your hair gets. I’m still on my first bottle, and was using it at every wash (twice a week), but after a while I started noticing my hair getting drier, so started rotating with Head and shoulders and my hair is back to normal. The conditioner is nothing special, just like any other out there. I think Briogeo or Morrocanoil products are better than Ouai. Also, the smell of Ouai reminds me so much of those really good shampoos Victoria’s Secret had back in early ‘00s. I feel like it’s an identical copy, of which I wouldn’t be surprised since the owner of Ouai is a bit dubious in terms of originality.

Trying very hard to be high-end luxury product, which is not, so the prices should reflect that.

  • I’ve been using the wave spray for years and absolutely love it. I mist it onto my damp hair after every shower and it leaves if wavy and never too sticky and lasts all day. It also smells amazing.
