Reviews mention

  • Potent bond-repair technology
  • Luxurious clean fragrance
  • Highly concentrated formulas
  • Effective brass-neutralizing pigment
  • Inconsistent results across hair
  • Potentially drying formulas
  • Heavy feel on fine hair
  • Staining purple pigment

OLAPLEX earns polarized reviews: it visibly strengthens and revives bleached or damaged hair—No. 3 Hair Perfector, No. 6 Bond Smoother, No. 7 Bonding Oil, and the 4P Purple Shampoo are frequent standouts—yet many users report dryness, heaviness, or even increased shedding and brittleness if overused. The brand is praised for salon-clean scent, rich lather, and fast toning, but criticized for inconsistent results across hair types and small, hard-to-dispense bottles.

  • I know people have experienced hair loss from using olaplex products, but it luckily didn’t do any of that for me. I really liked the conditioning hair mask for my super dry thick hair! I would recommend this product.

  • The Olaplex products are superior to many other hair care products. I use the precondition product and the shampoo. Both products gave my hair a fullness and fabulous texture.

  • I initially had great looking results from the olaplex system. However, after a few months I had tremendous breakage and hair fall. It could have been that my former stylist was trying to push out products she had a surplus of, and she wasn't considering my hair type and condition when she recommended it. I was trying to simplify my hair routine instead of having to worry about switching salon products every few weeks to keep my hair "balanced." I found Olaplex to be too costly when it came to the risk of trying it again. I'm happy to spend whatever it takes to keep my hair truly healthy, but I felt like Olaplex made it *look* healthy instead of actually improving my hair's condition.

  • Love olaplex no3 has really repaired my hair to what it once was after years of straightening and chemical treatments the bond repair treatment has saved my hair can’t wait to try more products

  • My hair is dry, thick, coarse and color treated. The No 3 Hair Perfector helps make it feel smooth a silky.

  • This shampoo was fine, I didn't have a positive or negative experience, it didn't stand out to me.

  • I've been using this product for a few weeks now, and I still find it a bit difficult to use. I find that I need to add more product at intervals after "emulsifying" and ensuring there's enough water. It seems like I have to use a lot more than the suggested amount to generate suds. This might be due to my oily hair. Interestingly, if I wash my hair twice, the recommended amount of product works the second time. I'm attempting to use it sparingly, but I'm struggling to stick to the recommended amount and still get my hair clean. The conditioner follows a similar pattern. Without using double the amount of product, my hair feels like there's nothing in it, almost as if it's been stripped of its natural oils. If I need to double the amount of product, it's becoming too expensive for me to keep using it in my shower routine.

  • I've been using Olaplex for a while and it's great. Except I switched to Routine Shampoo & Conditioner which has been way better for my hair - Routine Shampoo is designed for helping with hair loss and as I've gotten older and had a baby - my hair has gotten thinner. With Routine, my hair is 10 years younger. Olaplex made my hair shine but it kept getting thinner (I don't know if that's because of Olaplex or not)

  • MY NEW FAVORITE DRY SHAMPOO. I'm the type of girl to put off hair washing day until the last minute, and this dry shampoo has saved me. It truly is the only product that I feel absorbs all of the oils on my hair and makes it look fresh again!

  • I had such high hope this would solve all of my hair problems. It solved some of them but ultimately left my hair super greasy (i will openly admit to the internet right now i am prone to very greasy hair). I was saddened by this revelation, but still use the no. 6 on occasion which always leaves my curls super soft - I just have to wash my hair really well the next time i wash!

  • High quality products that do the job. Some products are better than others, love the hair oil to put on dry hair. Shampoo and conditioner were pretty good although expensive. The hair serum heat protectant is awesome, I use it every time I shower. The leave in conditioner thing was not good, and the no. 4 was ok but went through it too quickly. Overall if I see something new from olaplex, I want to try it, I trust the brand.

  • I got some free olplex samples in a sephora order and thought they were alright. I haven't ever purchased a full product, but the samples were nice, but not life-chamging enough to convince me to drop that much money on a full sized product

Received a free product from OLAPLEX
  • I have a love-hate relationship with Olaplex. I ONLY recommend Olaplex if your hair is actually damaged - I do not think it is suitable for daily use at all and I think that it does more harm than good on healthy hair. On damaged hair, I do think it helps a bit with strengthening and appearance of the hair.

  • Like this product and a little goes a long way. I use this probably once or twice a week and love the light weight clean feeling it leaves.

  • Not sure what all the hype is about. I was excited to try it as I’ve been concerned with my hair’s health lately and can only say it made my hair feel worse and thinner than when I started using it, not sure what’s up with that

  • No. 3 remains a game-changer in the hair world. A mere 2 hours and it totally transforms my hair, for a few days. I tried the in-salon treatments, but overall couldn't keep up with them (financially and time-wise), rendering the other products useless (I was told that you need the in-salon treatment in order for the other treatments to work, with the exception of No. 3).

  • I didn’t hate this product but I also didn’t love it. For context, I used it when my hair was very dry and brittle. I have 3c curls. Olaplex made my hair feel stronger but in the weeks after I noticed a lot of hair shed. I stopped using the product after this since I couldn’t identify another source. I think my hair would have fallen out from breakage so I can’t say this product was a detriment. If you have extremely weak hair, I’d use this one every couple of months in between protein treatments.

  • I´ve tried the number 6 and 7 and honestly felt like it didn´t do much for my hair. The products are also a bit pricey.
