Reviews mention

  • Smooth-writing gel pens
  • Thoughtful minimalist design
  • Durable storage organizers
  • Calming in-store atmosphere
  • Boxy apparel fits
  • Occasional pen smudging
  • Inconsistent clothing quality
  • Flimsy cleaning tools

Muji earns strong reviews as a minimalist one‑stop shop that works well for stationery, storage, and home basics—its 0.36–0.5 gel pens, notebooks, diffusers, and modular organizers draw consistent praise for smooth performance, thoughtful design, and longevity. Reviews also flag drawbacks: clothing can fit boxy or feel mid‑quality, some items (especially certain home goods) feel overpriced, pens may smudge or skip, and online selection/UX lags, making in‑store experiences distinctly better.

  • great range of items! nice quality. enjoyable in-person store experience.

  • Have so many Muji things, from clothes, office stuff, to house wares. All my cutlery is from there and it's really well made and not overpriced. Their store in Tokyo is amazing. I'd say this is a great basics company alongside UniQlo and I recommend it to everyone.

The stitching on some of the clothes is a little low quality so I don't go to Muji for clothes stuff anymore, but everything else is top notch!

  • Famous Asian brand. Lovely place. I always shop here.

I wish they had the same amount of inventory that the stores in Asia have. Especially the muji cafe. Their online website is not the best experience either.

  • Muji kind of just has everything, from spoons to shoes to shirts to pens. Nothing in there is dirt cheap, but at the same time none of the prices feel unreasonable. There is a consistent minimalist aesthetic across all of the items, and the quality is generally "what you see is what you get", which for the most part is good. I don't think there are any stand-out products, but at the same time I don't think there are any let-downs. The predictability of the quality as well as the wide-range of use cases the brand covers means I strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to get a bunch of essentials from one place.

  • I love Muji (both the stores and website) because you can find amazing home solutions at great costs. Their clothing and bedding is simple, affordable, and basic but that is typically the hardest stuff to find! Their bathroom and kitchen storage and organizing solutions are thoughtful and great for small spaces!

It is the quality you are paying for-- similar to Ikea the products will last as long as you are gentle with them. Not meant for heavy duty.

  • I'm a big fan of their stationary, especially their pens. They are thin, minimal, and glide across the paper. Also, they don't run out that fast.

  • Simple, easy and affordable products! Their gel pens are some of my go-to’s and I have tried plenty of pens from all over. Good products for easygoing people and lifestyles. If you are a minimalist, Muji might be a great place to shop.

  • superior stationary items especially for those who like thinner pens. i also have their oil diffuser which is a nice addition to my room and bathroom.

they no longer have los angeles locations which is a huge bummer because their website isn’t the most user friendly for online shopping.

  • Love their items! I own their notebooks and an eyelash curler. Their stuff is very minimalistic.

Can be kind of flimsy, but you get what you pay for!

  • Muji truly is my happy place. I’ve been using their pens for years.

  • I love Muji!!! Great quality for a great price. I love their home section and wish I knew about Muji when I was in college.

Nothing! Keep making those amazing pens!

  • Love muji, the products are simple, but are designed nice. The stationary is my go to, the pens are essential. The kitchen and homeware are also really nice, they're just simple and reliable, and easily accessible for someone like me who lives in the city and places like ikea are harder to get to .

The clothing is expensive and some pieces seem overpriced, I don't see muji as something very high quality, more like mid quality at somewhat affordable prices.

  • How can you not love muji! I went to the SF, NY and even the one's in Japan! Amazing experiences and amazing products that are so functional. The Japan store has a smoothie station which was cool. Their pens are grea too

  • In general all the home goods and stationary accouterments are really nice, aesthetically pleasing and decently priced. The stores are always incredibly organized and neat which, while on brand, is very hard to actually maintain in NYC, so kudos! Have yet to get anything that didn't fulfill its goal.

  • Prefer Muji for household basics over clothing. Organizers and bathroom items are my favorite.

Some items feel like a steal while others feel over priced.

  • I've always adored Muji for just about anything — office products, travel pillows, home basics. The aesthetic is so simple and clean, and the prices are hard to beat.

  • love shopping here for my home stuff. great quality for the price!

  • I've been journalling with Muji pens and notebooks for over two years. We got our first standalone Muji store in Vancouver in 2017, and since then I probably visit the store once every month or so to restock my notebooks. The pricepoint for notebooks is really low for such a high quality product. My partner and I also recently purchased some wine glasses and coffee mugs from the store on Robson in Vancouver. We love the unique shape of the wine glasses. The staff at both the Robson and Metrotown stores are really friendly and helpful.

  • I love Muji. Beautiful stores, with a consistent feel and aesthetic, and really well-made, competitively priced products. I used to use their colouring pencils for school, now I swear by their white tees and white sneakers. Their clothing is glorious.
