Reviews mention

  • Minimalist aesthetic, cohesive design
  • Beloved gel pens, smooth ink
  • Durable acrylic storage organizers
  • Calming, elevated in‑store ambiance
  • Inconsistent apparel quality, fit
  • Limited color variety, neutral palette
  • Occasional pen smudging or skipping
  • Underwhelming cleaning tools, suitcases

Muji wins strong reviews for minimalist, well‑made essentials that generally perform—from beloved 0.38–0.5 gel pens and high‑quality notebooks to durable organizers, travel containers, diffusers, and select apparel—yet the brand draws criticism for inconsistent clothing quality/fit, occasional product misses (cleaning tools, some suitcases), and prices that feel high for basics. Reviews also praise the serene in‑store experience and timeless design while noting limited color variety and that certain items smudge or skip, so discerning shoppers should target stationery, storage, travel accessories, and home goods over more variable categories.

  • I've been journalling with Muji pens and notebooks for over two years. We got our first standalone Muji store in Vancouver in 2017, and since then I probably visit the store once every month or so to restock my notebooks. The pricepoint for notebooks is really low for such a high quality product. My partner and I also recently purchased some wine glasses and coffee mugs from the store on Robson in Vancouver. We love the unique shape of the wine glasses. The staff at both the Robson and Metrotown stores are really friendly and helpful.

  • I love Muji. Beautiful stores, with a consistent feel and aesthetic, and really well-made, competitively priced products. I used to use their colouring pencils for school, now I swear by their white tees and white sneakers. Their clothing is glorious.

A better website experience. The stores are great.

  • I knew This brand since I was very little growing up in Japan! I love their clean design and functional products. I also love their food and snack products and I hope it will be more available in US in the future

  • Simple and clean designs. Fair price. Has a good selection of basics, but nothing very decorative or any statement pieces.

  • One of the best stores on earth. Could get lost there forever. I adore their pens and their housewares are v durable!

  • I love Muji! Everything is sleek and decently prized - I get a lot of my stationary and cute desk accessories from here ◡̈

  • Got their bedsheet set from the flagship Japan store. The cotton feels really soft to the touch and is really good value for the money if you price arbitrage in Japan

  • Ever since Muji opened in the heart of Rome, I've been fascinated by their range of items. Although I haven't delved into the textile section, I find there are true gems in the food department, especially when it comes to snacks - they've become a real obsession for me

  • Fun! Exciting! Simple but not boring! Elevates normal life

  • I love muji pens and the store is one of the coolest experiences I have had. Just the look of it is colorful, organized and enticing for customers. The pens write so smoothly and they even have different tip sizes for preference.

  • The .5 pens are the only pens I use to take notes in school and jot down ideas at work. Smooth, thin tip, great colors. Love!

  • Obsessed with everything muji and I wish there was more availability in the US. It's rather pricey but everything is great quality. I particularly like the home goods. In the Japan based stores, there's tasty food too.

  • I love Muji's brand philosophy of making products that are "enough." Their 0.38 pens are the only ones I can write with, and I love their household items, particularly their kitchenware.

  • Love how simple and clean the organization items are. Great for minimalists.

  • Truth obsessed with this brand and company. Everything that they sell is super high-quality, and I honestly want to buy everything in the store. Perfect for all of your staple items, pantry items, and even furniture.

  • I finally bought the cleaning system (pole, broom, swiffer) after several friends raved about it and it’s great especially in my tiny studio apartment where I don’t have space to keep multiple different full-size cleaning tools. I love that it’s compatible with swiffer cloths too.

  • This is the greatest non-brand ever created. I have to been to the stores in NYC, Boston (where I live), London, Dubai, and so many others. My 8th grader only uses their notebooks for school. I cut my nails with clippers from them. My house smells like Muji at times because my wife called the manager of the store to figure out what essential oils to put in our vaporizer. I used to even have their soundtrack of their store in my soundcloud. I like them. I love them. They're a cool brand making good stuff, not pricey and shopping there makes me feel good. You should go there.
