Levain Bakery impresses in reviews as a destination for ultra-thick, gooey cookies that many call the best they’ve ever had, especially the Chocolate Chip Walnut, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Oatmeal Raisin, though a subset finds them overly sweet, dense, or dry. Reviews consistently praise the crisp edges, molten centers, and shareable heft when eaten fresh in-store, while noting the frozen/grocery versions are smaller and often less flavorful than bakery-fresh.

  • These cookies are so delicious! The first time I had them was in Georgetown and I had to wait over an hour for them. They are so good that I’d wait in line that long again. They are thick cookies and have the perfect chocolate chip to cookie ratio

  • OK, so, I hate anything that is too overblown and has influencer scam bait all over it . Levain is very much as good as they say and has long been known to be amazing...before many influencers were even old enough to be listened to about anything. I go any time I'm ever near or I insist that anyone who loves me bring me something back if they mention they'll be in the area. The chocolate chip cookies are fantastic but the most underrated star for me is the oatmeal raisin cookie. All their cookies are the perfect balance of firm on the outside and soft on the inside. Do it!

  • The hype is real, need it straight from the bakery though - the frozen food version is not good yet

  • Not a big fan of Levain. The cookies are too thick and rich in flavor for me.

  • These cookies feel like something you experience with your family or friends that are new in town or want a fun but easy baking night. They're huge and taste pretty good, so they're fun to share and last a while!

  • Had them for the first time not realizing they weren't straight from a location in NYC, we're just as awesome

  • The frozen premade levain cookies are delightful! They are easy and not fussy, prefect for a weeknight dessert!

Currently, I have only been able to find them at Whole Foods. I wish they were more accessible

  • I think they overrated. I lived in NYC and would get their original chocolate and walnut cookies but it was always a bit underwhelming. I had a blueberry muffin from there too and it was just alright as well.

  • Definitely worth the hype. I tried this first on Newbury Street in Boston and fell in love with them. The classic chocolate chip is a favorite for a reason with walnuts. However, I tried the seasonal chocolate chip for fall and wasnt a fan.

  • So delicious! They are actually the best cookies ever, great for gifts too because you don't have to get too many they are so giant. Always a great place to take visiting friends or family members, took my parents when they visited me and they still talk about it!

  • My fav cookies of all time! They just opened the Chicago store recently, and it's so cute. I do wish they had more savory options though! The cookies are 10/10, especially their seasonal flavors!

  • Levaine cookies are simply the best - they've got that perfect combination of thick, crunchy goodness and ooey-gooey chocolate chips that will make your taste buds do a happy dance. Their nationwide shipping is a double-edged sword - it's dangerous to have access to these incredible cookies at any time. I once stumbled upon their Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies in the frozen aisle at Whole Foods, but now I can't seem to find them anywhere (waiting for a restock). Highly recommend!

  • These cookies were so worth it!! They were so so soft and chocolate-y!! But I have to say they are only good when they’re warm so eat fast or do yourself a favor and throw them in the oven for a second. Also nearly impossible to eat one on your own (borderline too sweet?) so share with a friend for sure.

  • Levain cookies are legit AF. Hands down. They've mastered the distribution too. For a cookie thats sent in the mail and has to be specially reheated from frozen to taste right, it still works. Not the same as in person, but damn good.

  • Favorite cookies. From bakery. The freezer ones weren’t worth it.

  • MY FAVV COOKIESSSSSSSSS. Soooo gooey and ooey and chewy and chocolatey, I love it so much. I personally only like the normal choc chip and walnut one

Feel like the other flavors could be better and more flavorful but the 2 I mentioned before are 11/10 so it's worth it

  • I think its by far the best cookies. All of them taste great. Now that there are more stores, the line is not as big, but still this sometimes kills the experience. The ones that they are selling in stores that is frozen does not come even close to the real ones.

  • Amazing cookies! So chewy and delicious. Chocolate chip walnut is so good, warmed up the slight gooey chocolate chips in the cookies.

  • really good cookies and they're really big. All the flavors are good, but it's best to split the cookies with because they can be really sweet.
