Reviews mention

  • Rich, complex umami flavor
  • Versatile, everyday condiment
  • Distinctive sichuan pepper tingle
  • Eye-catching, stylish packaging
  • Very oily, messy jars
  • Inconsistent crunch texture
  • Mild heat for spice lovers
  • Chili-to-oil ratio imbalance

Fly by Jing earns strong reviews for delivering flavorful, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments—standouts include the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp and Zhong Sauce—that reliably elevate eggs, noodles, dumplings, and more. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: many find the products very oily with inconsistent crunch, sometimes too mild (or occasionally too hot), and multiple mentions of leaky, messy jars and chili-to-oil imbalance.

  • Love the packaging and design but the chili crisp lacked the crispy crunch I look for in this sort of product.

    More crunch and garlic

  • I became aware of Fly By Jing through an Asian Business Association virtual event and placed an order to support an AAPI business. Their dumpling sauce and Sichuan Chili Crisp are flavorful and authentic. I add it to soups, dry noodles, and pasta.

  • I love Fly By Jing so much. I rave about the chili crisp so much, people are convinced they're paying me (they're not, but maybe they should be!). I love the founders writing and personal story.

Shipping fees are significant unless you hit $50+ worth of products (last I checked), which isn't ideal

  • The chili crisp sauce is literally the best chili sauce ever created ever. I bought 8 jars when I was last in NYC to bring back with me to London, and a super sized jar from Depanneur 😍😛💗

  • Absolutely obsessed with these dumplings!!!! My friends and I placed a massive group order and we cannot get enough 🙌🏼

  • Really tasty and easy to keep on hand for noodles or scallion pancakes or anything that needs a bit of a kick.

The packaging needs some improvement because the oil ends up getting everywhere. I have to keep the jar in small plastic tray to keep it tidy.
