Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.

I would say I am not any kind of expert on sichuan spices but I do love Fly By Jing and try to have it in the fridge whenever I can. I buy a lot of frozen dumplings and this really elevates these and takes out any guesswork for me on how I am going to serve them. I have not tried the FBJ dumplings but they are on my list for sure - definitely have been wanting to try more of the products as I assume they don't disappoint. Also site/branding is awesome and the founder just feels like someone I want to support.
Delicious sauces and quality ingredients. It's hard to find old school Asian brands with "clean" ingredients (i.e. non-gmo, etc etc). Fire branding.

Pricing is high.
DELICIOUS. I am a big dumpling/potsticker/fried rice girl and this adds a great flavor and subtle heat. I wish there was a twinge of sweetness though.

I really like this chili crisp! The packaging is fun and the company seems great! All around a good product!

Varying sizes at some point would be fun!
Amazing chili crisp, cute packaging, and I love their Instagram! Perfectly balanced and super versatile. The fermented beans add a super unique textural element.

10/10!
I’ve enjoyed the chili crisp but the mala spice has an off putting flavor i am not in love with. I eat a lot of mala hot pot and there’s just something too sweet about the spice from FBJ. The chili crisp also wasn’t as spicy as I’d hoped for but I’d be open to trying the extra hot version that’s been released. Over all I think the price point is a lot higher than I’d like to be paying and the jar frequently sweats hot oil in the fridge which has been odd having to wipe down the jar every time I take it out to use it. I’ll make my own chili crisp to be economical but wouldn’t be upset if I received this as a gift.
It's a solid chili crisp, don't get me wrong, the flavor did enhance my meal. One thing I noticed is that the chili flakes is extremely broken down compared to others on the market.

For the price, I think there is way more solid brands on the market that is cheaper for the price and tastes a lot better and with variation too. Go to your local asian supermarket and get the Lao Gan Ma spicy chili crisp for half the price. (They also have a chili soybean one too that SLAPS)
Amazing packaging. Looks great at a dinner party. Taste is good, but I was a slightly overwhelmed. A good kitchen stop, regardless.

More focus on flavor than packaging
It's a beautiful package, which is often why many of us are drawn to new brands, but for me, it lacked flavor & spice. I have to use quite a lot to make anything spicy.

make it spicer!
Great taste, but the price is a total rip off as you can get basically the same thing at an asian market for a third of the price.
I'm a chili crisp junky and the fly by jing one is delicious! It has a hint of sweetness which is unique from other chili crisps in the market. Very versatile and great in a lot of recipes!

I actually picked the chili crisps at Costco (wow!). I have tried other chili crisps and this one is indeed a winner! I keep finding new ways to incorporate this into my cooking.
The Zhong Sauce is SO addictive. Delicious on anything and everything. I was put-off at first by the price, but I will willingly pay $20 a bottle for how tasty it is.
Love this brand of chili oils! Tasty and inspiring for cooking. Adds just the right amount of kick
ADDICTIVE! The Chili Crisp is easily a pantry staple at this point. I haven't met something I won't put it on. (Yes, even that). A quick and delicious way to amp up flavors in your favorite dishes. Their other sauces are fab, too. They just came out with dumplings and I'm super excited to try them.
Chili crisp was good and very flavorful. Not too spicy which means that it can hit a larger market.
Feedback
Wasn't as crispy as some other chili oils on the market that have fried garlic in them. Not a bad thing, just something to consider when buying.
Still waiting on my order after 3+ weeks

I bought a bunch of Fly By Jing products and still haven't received my order. Pretty disappointed by the lack of updates or customer service.
Great flavor and consistency to the sauces.
Feedback
The last time I ordered, the jar was a little leaky so some of the oil gets out. Seems as though there is some room for improvement on the packaging front.

There's too much to love about this brand. The flavor of their original sauce is excellent and is a perfect "topping" to nearly every dish you can think of. The texture is excellent. The website experience is just fun. The subscription option, loyalty program & merchandise drops are such well-executed, smart expansions on the core business model. The product expansions keep hitting it out of the park (I've never bought anything faster than I bought the hotpot base). I bought a tee with my own money because the branding is just that great (Dayjob did great work). Would recommend to anyone (provided they can handle the heat).

The chili crisp concentrates at the bottom so you need to make sure to stir it up (as you would with the table chili oil in any Chinese restaurant). Not an issue but I do go through it quickly and am left with primarily oil about halfway through - would love more of that crisp texture loaded into the jar.
It is delightful. Not too spicy - flavor is amazing, and actually does go amazingly with everything :)

oil get's everywhere - idk if it's the jar, or just the fact that it is oil. but that is kind of by definition a part of anything that is predominantly oil...
