Fly by Jing delivers bold, versatile Sichuan-inspired condiments that, according to reviews, elevate everything from eggs and noodles to dumplings—Zhong Sauce and the OG Sichuan Chili Crisp draw repeated praise for layered umami, balanced heat, and everyday usability. Reviews also flag notable drawbacks: some find the chili crisp too oily, less crispy or milder than expected, with occasional smoky bitterness and jar leakage—plus comparisons to Lao Gan Ma or Momofuku on flavor and spice—and some mention inconsistent crunch and a need to stir.

Overall -- I think it's a great brand, and really love their products. Some products are better/more unique than others Favorite products: - The Zhong Sauce: SO good, truly my go to "put this on everything" sauce. Somehow it's salty, a little spicy, umami, a little sweet, and just amazing. So good on dumplings, noodles, and other classic carbs. - The Mala Spice Mix: An surprising winner! My favorite use of this is to put it on popcorn right after it's popped to add some spice, saltiness, and just depth of flavor. Would also put it on proteins as a dry rub, or as a little sprinkle to dishes for some extra heat! Things that are great, but maybe not the most special: - Chili crisp: This was great, but I don't think it's that different from other chili sauces from other brands, some of which (like Lao Gan Ma) might be cheaper and easier to get. - Hot Pot Base: Same as with the chili crisp, it's a solid spicy oil hot pot base, but you can probably get similar results for cheaper from your local asian grocery store
Delicious! Chili oil was good — I added some salt when I used but that’s just because I have preference for it. Zhong sauce was great! I used it on everything — rice, noodles, eggs, etc!

In my experience, the jars don’t close very well and make them prone to leakage as they come unscrewed easily.

I'm reviewing primarily their chili oil. The taste is just ok to me I feel there are better options out there for the price. Also the jar is just a plastic twist cap but some how the oil keep leaking out.
Nom Nom! So Good - there's a lot of competition out there but this one doesn't disappoint.
I thought Fly by Jing was going to be another overhyped, of-the-moment company, but DAMN. That chili crisp sauce is one of my new fav things in the kitchen now.

I got a 3-pack gift set for xmas. It's just as delicious.& versatile as everyone raves about. Incredible, and worth the $$ for sure.
I love the chili crisp and put it on everything. Eggs, toast, soup…you name it. It’s the best.
I gifted a Fly by Jing set to my boyfriend, and now want to do all our cooking at his place because I keep stealing it lol. Will be repurchasing for myself when he's (we're) out. The sauces instantly make any dish so much better (love on veggies and tofu), plus the packaging is gorgeous, and the chili crisp oils is one of the best I've ever tried.
I am obsessed with Fly by Jing!!! I add it to everything I eat because it adds so much flavor!! I add it to chips, cup of noodles, birria, eggs, quesadillas.. literally anything and everything!! Its an addiction that does not hurt anyone.

I am only able to find this gem at Target! Would love to find it at my other local markets!!
Incredible product!!
Best go-to chili oil sauce to keep in your pantry! AMAZING with fried rice or just with fried eggs over rice.

I would love to see a little more crisp bits and pepper in the bottle. I opened my bottle and half of it was just the oil.
Life changing, truly has made me a different, better person in the kitchen. I tell everyone I know about this sauce and it makes me feel like I am a god when they try it and their life is changed too. Try it on eggs, stir fry, a pan seared fish and veggies or just use it as salad dressing.

I found it in a bodega in SF once but haven't seen it in stores again. Definitely ordering from their site next time.
ABSOLUTE MAGIC! This has changed my egg game. I add a little to a fried egg or shakshuka and it takes my food from level 6 to 10. Really flavorful and holds its crunch super well. You need to enjoy spicy but it's not that spicy.

DO NOT CHANGE THE RECIPE PRETTY PLEASE :)
Love to put this on everything. The chili oil and crisp taste so good and pair well with almost any cuisine.

I just wish the bottle didn't leak and get so oily, so it would be nice to perhaps have a more enclosed packaging.

Best products, hands down. While their chili crisp is a hero, don't sleep on their other spices like the Mala spice - so so so good. A pantry staple you can put on anything. I give these as gifts all the time, and it's always appreciated.
Love their chili crisp. Great flavor and not too spicy – at least for my Asian tastebud. The downside is that it is just too expensive.

Love this stuff, increidble on store bought dumplings. I prefer them fried like gyoza... this stuff made me start trying other brands, and very few of them are as goof as Fly by Jing. Id love it if the made a dumpling dip sauce, i bet it would be awesome.

Love their chili crisp and mala spice mix. Great flavor, but expensive.
Have repeatedly ordered & been addicted to FBJ’s chili crisp for about a year now, don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. Ordering for the first time was great, website experience was easy, and marketing emails since that first order are actually click worthy. I like the brand a lot

- Jars are leaky and messy. Oil gets on the sides and never comes off, basically I store it perpetually on a paper towel - There seems like a lot of ways to get deals on the site that sometimes makes me feel like I’m missing out on a better price for the same thing (a jar of chili crisp) - Tried ordering a new product but it wasn’t clear that it wasn’t gluten free, so that was disappointing to receive

Ordered a set that included the XL sized chili crisp, mala spice powder, and an auntie iridescent sun visor. The chili crisp is good but the flavor is very different from Lao Gan Ma. Not at all a 1-1 substitute. We still ate it all but went back to LGM and MSG afterward. The mala spice I tried in a recipe that came with the product and it was okay but just not part of my regular cooking style, so I haven’t found a way to use the rest of it yet. The visor was fun and I was really looking forward to wearing it!! But way too small for my head; my toddler likes to wear it for play sometimes.

I love the branding and the vibe, but the product itself doesn’t hit home for me
Absolutely love this product and it’s adorable branding. I put the sweet and spicy sauce on just about everything. I look forward to more innovation from this brand
