Reviews mention

  • Intensely fresh aromas and flavors
  • Elegant, display-worthy packaging
  • Transparent single-origin sourcing
  • Inspirational, well-tested recipes
  • Higher-priced spice quantities
  • Clear glass risks light degradation
  • Inconsistent jar sizing organization
  • Limited basic spice selection

Diaspora Co. earns emphatic reviews as a top-tier spice brand that demonstrably works, delivering intensely fresh, aromatic flavors—standouts include Pragati turmeric, Aranya black pepper, Guntur Sanaam chiles, chai masala, cumin, and cardamom—while drawing criticism for higher prices, stock inconsistency, and occasional subscription or fulfillment issues. Reviews praise the brand’s traceable sourcing, elegant packaging, and inspiring recipes, but note packaging quirks (clear glass, jar-size inconsistency), desire for more basic options and smaller sizes, and a few users feeling the flavors don’t always justify the hype.

  • Haven't met a spice from them that I don't like. I wanted to stop buying supermarket spices, so I have tried a few from Diaspora Co. Honestly my jaw was on the floor when I first tasted their spices. I loved the brand's mission + transparency + that it's queer WOC owned.

Just keep doing what you're doing, Diaspora Co!!!

  • I love everything they are about and everything they sell. I have been a loyal customer since they only sold tumeric and I want to buy everything they release. Great quality and meaningful mission.. what more do you need? Their chai masala is next level and I also use it to up my baking game (everyone swooned at the zucchini bread I put it in).

  • These are the best spices I've ever had, hands down.

We cook South Asian food at home all the time and these add a noticeable difference to the quality of the food. You won't regret buying these. I just wish we could afford to use them for every meal!!

  • Delicious, high-quality, and fresh spices. I got the chai masala and have been using it every single morning in my chai. I also use their turmeric and cacao. All great!

I love the business model and am all for paying farmers in India a dignified living wage, but I think the prices could be just a little more affordable.

  • Incredible spices and variety and even more incredible mission and packaging. Absolutely adore this brand.

  • High quality! Unique flavors and spice combos! Love the packaging too.

Received a free product from Diaspora Co.
  • Big fan of the brand and their mission. They really are passionate about changing the spice supply chain. And they also bring out very innovative products. I’ve purchased a lot for myself and gifts. And it never fails.

Wish they had a bigger bottle!

  • love the products, love the mission, love the branding, and love that its an actual south-asian who founded and is running the brand and not an appropriation!

  • The difference is immediately apparent when you open a tin of Diaspora spice and see the difference in color between their turmeric and any other brand. You can smell the difference between their spices and others... they're so much more fragrant, and of course you can taste the difference in your cooking. Using high quality spices elevates any dish from good to amazing, and Diaspora's are the best and the freshest out there. They support small farmers and are completely transparent about their supply chain. I have been a fan since the only thing they sold was turmeric, and have been happily watching their product line, and their impact expand over the years.

  • Love love love their turmeric powders! Really you think you have tried turmeric but you haven't yet until you have tried Diaspora turmeric! Nothing compares to this! Well worth the effort and their commitment to working with farmers to improve the supply chain that looks at the human element of production is amazing!

  • High quality spices with a great mission. The packaging is sleek and the labels are clear and easy to read. I worry because the glass isn’t tinted that the flavors might degrade in the sun, so I try not to keep them out on display. I love the look of the spice dabba and would be interested to see other housewares sourced with a similar ethos to their spices.

  • I love Diaspora's mission of paying spice farmers fairly and selling quality spices that are traceable to a region or specific spice variation (like you would for coffee or chocolate). Their spices are delicious and have so much flavour. They last a long time with regular use. I have also purchased their beautiful dish towels. It is great as a gift - the packaging, box and artwork are unique and lovely. You may have to wait for the product to become available, but I appreciate that the company is growing steadily and paying its farmers fairly.

  • Love the mission of this brand. Really high quality spices and they make for a great gift.

  • I loved the packaging, and the experience - I bought a few spices from Nordstrom for holiday presents for myself (lol). I wasn’t like, BLOWN AWAY, honestly, but they look nice in my cabinet.

I feel neutral! Maybe I’m just not a spice gal.

  • Flavor profiles are on point and you get A LOT of product! Packaging is beautiful and I'm proud to support their mission to highlight family farms across India and their commitment to inclusivity. (Highly recommend following their social for handy recipes and transparency updates.)

  • The spices from Diaspora Co have truly changed my culinary game. The flavor profiles all of their spices create are unmatched. Because the products are locally sourced it can take a bit to receive them, but they are beyond worth the wait. This is a great option for gift giving. Highly recommend the turmeric, chili powders, and pretty much everything else they have to offer.

  • My whole kitchen smiles when I open a jar of Diaspora Co. spices. Their transparency and super deep recipe archive inspires to discover new ways to use my kitchen staples and find outlets to explore spices I'm less experienced cooking with. I've loved every single product I've tried (including the tote bag) and it seems the hits just keep on coming. Like oils, vinegars, and other kitchen essentials, I sometimes hesitate when it comes to price. Since I use salt, herbs, chilis, and seeds in some form basically daily, it feels worth it to spend up. The way they look on my shelf doesn't hurt either :-)

  • My friend gifted me the turmeric and it's so delicious and high quality.
