Crown Affair earns strong reviews for delivering lightweight, great‑smelling haircare that leaves hair softer, shinier, and less frizzy—standouts include The Oil, Leave‑In Conditioner, Dry Shampoo powder, the microfiber Hair Towel, and boar/nylon Brush No. 001. Reviews also flag weaknesses: the dry shampoo packaging can be messy, some formulas underperform on oily scalps or very thick hair, brush/comb durability and cleaning are issues, certain scents read too strong, and a few tools feel fragile or hard to maintain.

Crown Affair came onto my radar a while ago from a newsletter I follow that reviewed a few of their products. Almost every product they tried was touted as "life changing", which sounds a bit too good to be true, but what caught my eye was their review on their Dry Shampoo. I've struggled since becoming a teenager with my fine and frizzy hair, and by two days after wash day I absolutely hate how my scalp feels that I have a hard time focusing unless I put it in a ponytail. Of course their products are more pricy than what I was used to, but I have now tried a few of their offerings and have some thoughts on each one: The Leave-in Conditioner: I won this and the following item in a raffle, so while I did spend some money on them I did not have to pay the full price. Despite having this product for a while I can't say I really know how to properly use it. My hair is so fine that I very easily use too much and it weighs it down. I did try using it at night recently and I think it helped with my frizz the following day. I don't have much experience with other leave-in conditioners, but I can tell this one is high quality and a little goes a long way. I should mention that this and the rest of their products have a signature scent. I really enjoy the scent and thankfully it does not bother me. The Towel: Their towel has my go-to whenever I wash my hair now. It does what it claims and helps dry my hair faster than it would on its own, and I love how it has an elastic strap to secure it in place, rather than a much smaller button and loop. My only complaint is it is bulkier than the turbans I bought for the same purpose. I don't have that much hair so my head towel does not need to be big at all! The Oil: I purchased the rest of my products in a bundle which saved me 15%, but honestly I struggled with picking this one as I am not sure if it would be a good idea for me. I went with it due to its very good reviews. The aim of the oil is to de-frizz and protect my hair from heat, but I felt like I had a bad wash day when I used it, as my hair was frizzier than normal. It told me to use only one drop for my fine hair which felt like too little so maybe I didn't use enough. Once again I don't really have much experience with this type of product so I don't know if I used it right but I wasn't very happy with the results. The Finishing Spray: Sadly I cannot review this one yet as the bottle I got was defective. Instead of a fine mist I could only get it to spray a sharp jet of liquid, even after troubleshooting it did not work. Which is not ideal for a hair spray, especially with my fine hair! Thankfully all it took was telling the Crown Affair team about my defective bottle and I am getting sent a new one! Love when customer service makes getting a replacement this easy. The Dry Shampoo: Finally, the product I had been waiting to try for a year or so. After trying a few dry shampoos I can tell when one is better quality but so far nothing had been able to stop my scalp from feeling gross after a few days (even when I double shampoo and don't use conditioner on my scalp). This one being a powder is pretty innovative, and it means there is a lot less waste which of course I love. It's also refillable! The scent of the powder is delightful like the rest of their products and it was easy enough to apply when I figured out how to get some of the powder out. While I definitely need to test it more, so far I think I am enjoying this product! I did not have that gross feeling day 2 or 3 after wash, which is an excellent sign. With any luck I have found the dry shampoo for me! Overall, it is clear to me that Crown Affair is a high quality brand with great customer service and innovative products. Of course not all products were perfect for me, and it is quite the expensive leap to take, but I am glad I was able to try out their products. One other design nitpick I have is that all of the clear bottles do not have instructions on the back. I find myself having to search up the product on their website or keep the paper packaging. I understand no instructions makes more a nice aesthetic, but I prefer convenience a bit more than aesthetic when it comes down to it! Also, it took several weeks to get the products, which is a bummer since I was excited to try them as soon as possible.

Crown Affair knocks everything they do out of the park-- every time. The towel is a product I use daily-- I'd had other similar products, but their unique design (which I think they patented!) *is* worth the extra investment. The leave-in conditioner is so good that I reorder it every single time. I've truly scooped the sides of the canister with my fingers to get it all out. UPDATE: the new overnight repair serum is the best hair care product I've ever used. Honestly, forget the rest-- if you try one thing, let it be this!

Incredible scent paired with products that not only look nice on display but also work well. My favorites are the microfiber towel (gentle and stays in place easily) along with the dry shampoo. I like the mousse but I don't feel that it's doing anything that another mousse couldn't do. Overall the scent is the real winner.

I would recommend their Leave In Conditioner to anyone, especially if you like to air dry your hair in the summer. I added some to my hair last night before bed, threw it in a braid, and woke up to really pretty and SOFT waves. It's super light weight, so my fine hair wasn't weighed down. The one I purchased was a collaboration with DS and Durga and the scent is unreal. Plus, the bottle is HUGE. It's going to last me for a while, even with regular use. I gave a 4/5 rating simply because I need to try more of their products.

The shape of the towel is perfect for people with longer hair and more gentle than using a regular towel. The hair clips offer amazing hold as someone with thicker hair I always struggle to find hair clips that will stay and despite their small size these are hands down the best I’ve tried. The silk scrunchies are also amazing I have bought these before at Sephora and find myself coming back to these time and time again.

The brush!!! So amazing. Literal game changer for my hair. I have never used this kind of brush before and it makes my hair so so soft, I guess by redistributing the oils, and therefore it also really smoothes any frizzies out too. I will say that it kind of molds/styles my hair in that I can’t really run my fingers through it after easily, it kind of holds its shape (not sure how to describe this). I have fine yet thick hair that is very long and fairly straight. Since I loved the crown affair brush so much I did purchase a mini brush by a legacy maker of these bristle brushes to keep in my bag and there is a notable difference in the bristle quality and the other brush doesn’t tend to mold my hair, but I honestly like them both equally.

Bristles get pretty gross and dusty pretty fast. I purchased a brush for my brush to help with that

I have only tried the finishing gel so far and I really really like it. I haven’t used a ton of other styling gels before so I don’t want to claim it the best when I’m sure there’s others just as good out there, but it’s definitely been amazing for slick back styles keeping my hair in place but then not feeling too gross afterward. I don’t feel like I need to wash my hair right away which is a plus compared to some more stickier gels I’ve tried. It smells really good too. The brand overall does seem a bit overpriced to me but I’d like to try out some more products eventually to see the hype. I do have the small comb (a friend gave it to me) and have no idea how or why that would be over $40 haha. It is literally just a plastic comb you could get anywhere.

I can't say it's worth the hype! I have heard so much positive feedback from this brand, specifically for fine hair. I bought the volumizing shampoo and conditioner and felt that it did nothing special. The shampoo makes me feel like I need to double shampoo each time which doesn't help the price. I would give it 3 stars if the price was more competitive.

I purchased a brush, a comb, and scrunchies from this company and love them all. Beautiful aesthetic and sturdy products. My only complaint is that the elastic in the scrunchies seemed to wear out pretty quickly.

I got The Brush No. 001, Comb No. 002, and Scrunchie No. 001. I like that Crown Affair is a smaller brand and I appreciate that they have a fairly small selection of products. I'm trying to take better care of my hair and I've noticed a significant reduction in split ends ever since I started my new routine with the comb and brush (comb only when wet, brush once dry). To be honest, I don't love the brush. It makes my hair really frizzy (which it's normally not at all) and it smells SUPER weird if it ever gets wet. I avoid using it for the most part now since I don't like the way my hair looks after using it. The paint has also started to chip and the logo embossing has completely faded away, which is disappointing for how expensive it is. The scrunchies are great and last fairly long! I'm excited to try the hair oil and towel sometime soon.

More colors in the scrunchies! The brush also does collect a lot of dust and is difficult to clean. I don't really want to have to buy a separate cleaning brush for an already expensive brush.

the dry shampoo is a holy grail. i’ve tried pretty much every one on the market and the combo of the formula with the brush makes it exceptional. it works on contact vs some others that leave a sticky or weighted down feeling.

it's so easy to fall in love with the crown affair products because not only do they work, but dianna cohen is such a lovely ceo to follow bts. when someone pours their heart into their company it shows. yes they are a little bit pricey, but they are so well designed and i get so many compliments on how good i smell when i wear their products in my hair that it doesn't even matter to me.

I bought from this brand because I loved the packaging and it came highly requested from the Sephora team, but I was slightly underwhelmed by the formula of the leave in conditioner. I have dry, curly hair and I found this product didn't do much for me in the long-term. I have other more hydrating, less expensive products that I prefer, but overall glad I gave this a shot!

I just recently got into the crown affair. I purchased the leave in conditioner. I use it every day after my shower. It leaves my hair feeling great and it dries so nicely with the product in. I love the way it smells. I have tried the hair perfume in Sephora as well and will be getting that next!

BEST DRY SHAMPOO I'VE EVER TRIED!!!

I am excited to try the new shampoo & conditioner line from Crown Affair! I have loved every product I’ve used so far. The dry shampoo is innovative and smells delicious! The leave in conditioner leaves my hair soft without weighing it down. I have been eyeing the brush, although extremely pricey for a hairbrush!

The towel is one of my favorite hair buys ever. It’s amazing quality and so much more functional than other hair towels on the market. I love the crisp white color and the texture. I highly recommend it.

Disappointed with Customer Service I was really looking forward to trying Crown Affair, but unfortunately, my experience with their customer service was very disappointing. My order was marked as delivered to a "front door/porch" — which would make sense for a house, but I live in a third-floor apartment with no front porch or direct delivery access. When I reached out to customer service to explain the likely delivery error, I was met with a copy-paste response stating they are "not responsible for any lost or stolen packages" and suggesting I take it up with USPS. While I understand that some issues are out of their hands, the lack of effort or willingness to help beyond sending a link to a USPS form was frustrating. They made it clear that once a package is marked "delivered," it's no longer their problem — even when it's pretty obvious it was likely delivered to the wrong place. I expected a more customer-centric approach from a premium brand. Sadly, this experience has made me hesitant to ever order from them again.
I have been testing out various haircare products for a while now, and I've come to the conclusion that Crown Affair really is one of the best out there. I tried their hydration trio- leave-in conditioner, hair mask, and hair oil. All the products helped me to keep a nice hair texture that was soft and not too frizzy. The hair oil came out the top item, though- it is pure MAGIC in there. Well worth the price. I am a little in sticker shock when I see the pricing of their hair towel, hair brush, or even hair clips. I'm guessing they're good quality, but it does seem a bit overpriced to me.
