Reviews mention

  • Hilarious, high-energy gameplay
  • Simple, accessible ruleset
  • Engaging, social experience
  • Abundant, creative expansions
  • Explicit, polarizing content
  • Diminishing shock value
  • Occasionally outdated references
  • Audience-dependent enjoyment

Cards Against Humanity wins big in reviews for delivering uproarious, easy-to-learn party play that sparks belly laughs, quick bonding, and late-night chaos—especially with larger groups and expansion packs—so yes, it works. Reviews also flag clear drawbacks: humor can be crass/NSFW and alienating for sensitive or mixed-age crowds, cards lose shock value with repetition, and some prompts feel dated or hard to play with certain audiences.

  • This was not a purchase, but I participated in the game itself at work. Honest, I don’t know what they were thinking — likely this is an example of generation gap. Apparently what’s defined as a healthy freedom of expression Amin the 20/30 somethings comes off as just plain rude with those of us attached to a different understanding of appropriate social behavior. As a game? It’s obviously engaging and entertaining - just should not be used in a mixed social setting.

It’s so uncomfortable reducing a rating to one to five stars. So much more involved.

  • Love playing the cards . I have many of the packs. My only issue is some of the cards are way too offensive to me but that’s the point of the game

  • I’ve never laughed so hard.

    Feedback

My fiends & I have never laughed so hard. Fun game, for an otherwise boring party.

  • Played all of the time in college. It's a really great icebreaker

  • fun to play, good entertainment for a night in. the expansion packs are a good idea!

  • super fun game my friends and i love to play it on the nights we stay in and always have a blast

  • I have had some good laughs playing this game, but it is basically just a dirty/innapropriate version of Apples to Apples. Can definitely be fun with the right group of people though!

    Feedback

I wish there was a little something extra to gameplay to set it apart from Apples to Apples. It is fun that they have such a wide variety of expansion packs.

  • Fun.

    Feedback

Some of them are really disgusting. I know that's the point but a couple cards are just too much.

  • This is a game we come back to again and again. The everything bagel extension pack was exactly what we needed. Play only with people you know and trust well and expect to laugh and laugh! Great party game.

    Feedback

This game is great fun and actually incredibly smart. It’s not however for the overly politically correct because it definitely can push the boundaries depending on the group.

  • Branding and marketing by far are my favorite parts of CAH. The game is simple and a crowd-pleaser with a good sense of humor and awareness.

  • It got boring really quickly, with a price point like this it isn't worth it.

    Feedback

some of the cards have aged pretty poorly.

  • I’ve played this game and the expansion packs many times with friends. It’s hilarious the first time around, but it gets really old the second game. If you’re okay with buying it and only playing it every once in a while to keep the game fresh, then I would recommend.

    Feedback

A new style of Cards Against Humanity is needed. Another element would refresh the game.

  • A fun party game with friends and family. It can get repetitive if you play often so adding in the extra packs is great!

  • Very fun game to play with friends, not for the faint of heart and definitely is a good game to play after some drinks.

  • I love Cards Against Humanity! At first I was nervous to play as I thought I would have to be creative and think on the spot but you use the cards in your hand to fill in the blank which takes off the pressure. It creates a lot of silly and funny moments and it's easy to learn and play. It also doesn't take up a lot of room, which is nice, and there are a variety of expansion packs to keep it fresh.

  • I really enjoyed Cards Against Humanity when I first got it several years ago. We played it pretty regularly and it is a great party game if you know a good number of the people you are playing with. After playing it quite a bit, it did get old and I haven't played it in quite a while. Overall its a good party game, but the playability does wane a bit over time.

I know there are expansions, but it would be nice if there were new game mechanics or ways to play the game to keep it interesting.
