Cadence earns mixed-to-positive reviews: the magnetic, leak-resistant, customizable capsules streamline packing and look chic, but size, weight, and durability issues temper enthusiasm. Reviews praise organization, aesthetics, sustainability, and strong magnets for tidy travel; drawbacks include small internal capacity for liquids like shampoo, occasional leakage, hard-to-open lids when wet, heavier build, weak magnet linkage at times, and reports of cracking over months of use.
AI summary based on Thingtesting reviews
I have gifted Cadence to three different people and it's the perfect gift for anyone who travels frequently. The best part is that you can customize the colors and tiles, so I usually opt to give a gift card so the recipient can make a set that works best for their routine. They're magnetic and high quality, which is awesome.
Feedback
Wish the sizes were a bit bigger and it was more inexpensively priced.
The cadence capsules are great for traveling! I use them for holding toothpaste, face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, toner, and lipbalm. They don't take up too much space and hold more than you think.
Feedback
I've had them for over a year, and almost every one is cracked. However, they haven't sustained any significant falls, so I am unsure where the cracks have come from. Nonetheless, they are still functional.
I love this concept and have found these super convenient for travel. I’ve used them for a few trips over the past year or so. When I was packing them for my most recent trip, I noticed cracks along the sides of some of the containers. They were still usable but definitely expected higher durability, especially considering that I’ve only used them a few times and they’re stored in a cabinet (with nothing stacked on top) when they weren’t in use.
Feedback
You do need to close these pretty tightly to prevent leaks, which of course makes them a bit challenging to open. Not sure if this contributed to the cracks that formed but addressing the cracking issue or offering a way to (re)cycle the containers would be great.
As someone who constantly misplaces things, I love how the capsules are magnetic. I think this might be better for travel-sized liquids because I can't fit a week's worth of vitamins in a container. Also appreciated how the product came in eco-friendly packaging. Sidenote: this is a great product for anyone who constantly fidgets 😉

Capsules could be a bit bigger!
I was excited to get my three Cadence sets. I had a few hicuips with two of the orders (mis-prints and wrong size capsules sent), but they corrected that. I love the versatility and variability of use. The magnet and lids! Colors! What is not to ❤️ love? They are a bit heavy and bulky to pack, but they will last a lifetime!
Really well made product but not the most practical. Great idea but not good for more than a 2 day trip
These are way too expensive at full price. I love my set that I got using the Thingdrop discount and use it frequently but I just don't get why it's so expensive.

I really love my Cadence (original) capsules. They are definitely a bit of a splurge for travel containers, but the design is so nice and compact. I've never had any problems with leaks and I love how customizable they are, especially with their new sizes. I'm planning to order more in the future!

I was surprised by how much fits. You’ll struggle to pick which colour you want and what you want your tiles to say. The versatility and ability to not have to have samples or travel sizes of everything is what attracted me to this brand.

They're cute but tiny and hard to get product out of.
I wanted to try these for a really long time, so I was incredibly excited when they were available with a thingdrop discount. I’ve now taken them on a couple of trips so I can fairly share what I think. Their form factor is impressive. They are sturdy, the magnets are strong, and they haven’t leaked. On a recent trip I loaded 3 up with a (very liquidy) medicated shampoo, some balm facial cleanser, and some ibuprofen. It was really nice to have the shampoo with me, without carting along the entire bottle and worrying about it leaking all over my carry on. But here’s the thing - they are prohibitively expensive. I’m intrigued by the new sizes they have, but I just can’t spring $160 (for a pack of 7) for all my needs (hair gel, conditioner, serum, sunscreen, etc). I hope they can lower their pricing as they can produce more!

I travel for work and these are a lifesaver. All of my skin, body and hair care fit into these perfectly. They have reduced the amount of clutter in my travel toiletry bag. These are great too to throw in my purse with pills, sunscreen, or any creams that I might need. I would repurchase again, now that I know they have larger sizes as well.

The aesthetics of these are super cute but they're REALLY tiny. I would only recommend them for things you don't need a lot of.

Wanted to leave a review until my Cadence stack saw some heavy wear. Overall, the product is the perfect travel companion that gets everything I need in just the right amounts—although, it may be tough to use with more runny liquids, be warned, it will cause some spillage. The magnets aren't as strong and have had some moments where they fell apart. Sadly, did see some leakage after my third use and it may be a defect on the lid, so I had to delegate that compartment to strictly solids.

I got the chance to try it out through the Thingdrop program! , I'm absolutely loving it. I mostly use it for my supplements, and it's been incredibly handy. The best part is how portable it is. I can easily carry it around, and when I'm in a hurry, I just grab one and I'm good to go. I'm definitely thinking of trying their new size too! It's totally worth recommending!

I absolutely love these! My friend told me about them and i was hesitant to buy them since I use a lot of products. But I've been using them for a few months and am super happy with the color, size, and quality. Super leak proof, even with very watery products like facewash. Now I really want to get their expanded sizes too!

I thought these were definitely great for cutting down space on when packing, but that did come at the expense of always having enough of my products. If these were a little bigger, I’d be a big fan. I may invest in the new expanders, but the whole thing is a little pricey. I will say they kept everything very tightly contained which was great!
Feedback
My main feedback is on price and size. I’m excited about the expanders because I think that will help the size a lot.

Note: This review is for the original capsules. As of 4/26/23, Cadence has released a new line of modular capsules. Though the extender for the new capsules is really innovative and they come in a bigger size, I've read (and agree w/) a lot of comments expressing disappointment about the new system not being compatible with the old system. Pros - Appearance: These little capsules really are beautiful. They come in a wide range of aesthetically pleasing colors, and you can even mix and match the tiles and capsules together. Each capsule feels weighty, though you can also potentially see this as a con if you are someone who travels light. - Innovation: The magnetic honeycomb feature of the capsules is really delightful and it is nice and satisfying to be able to magnetize all my products together! - Size: Although the capsules look small, they hold a deceptive amount! I travel frequently, with trips sometimes lasting >2 weeks, and have found that the amount is more than enough to hold the correct quantity of certain items, such as: toner, face cleanser, hair serum, etc. Cons - Size: In other ways, the size of these capsules is not long enough for longer trips, especially if there is something you require much more product of. For example, I have very long and thick hair and the current size of the capsules is only enough to last about 2 (maybe 3, if stretching it) uses. Granted, if I wash my hair every couple of days, this could take me through a week, but not any longer than that. I imagine this will be fixed with the new system which does seem to offer a lot of capacity, but I wonder at what trade off in terms of weight. - Price: At $80+ for 6 tiny capsules, this is an investment and a lot to spend money on. The new system looks even more expensive (I tried to make a `Large Build Your Own Routine` with 12 capsules and the total with a bunch of the largest size capsules came up to $300+?!?). I love the idea and the aesthetics but I honestly don't know if I can justify the price to myself. In addition, there are only a select number of pre-filled labels that you can choose to add on for free, with each custom label adding $3. - Weight: These capsules are HEAVY (and I imagine, even heavier with the new system). I understand that there might be a trade off between weight and durability, however, in my experience the capsules haven't been as durable as touted (see point below). That makes me think twice about bringing the capsules if I am trying to one-bag it or pack light for an upcoming trip. - Durability: I got my capsules over 3 years ago, and over half of them have started to show wear and tear with cracks appearing. I did DM the brand on instagram, and was relatively slow to get a response. They did ask for my email to follow up the conversation, but I have yet to hear back (will update this review based on the response I eventually do, or do not receive). Summary To a certain extent, I still use these capsules when I travel, but a few of the cons listed above have stopped me from really incorporating them into every step of my routine. I would really love to give the new extender system another try as it does seem like they have addressed the concerns about size and increased modularity, however I will probably wait to see some reviews roll in as do have doubts about the durability given my previous experience and the price is somewhat prohibitively expensive. I am also interested in hearing feedback about the new weights - since the previous capsules already felt heavy, I cannot imagine what a capsule 3x the size would be like. As someone who LOVES her routines, loves aesthetically pleasing things, loves this concept and travels a lot, I am still wishing that I could make this product work for me and will be keeping tabs on how the brand is growing and responding to feedback in the future!

I've been obsessed with the branding / marketing for so long. The capsules themselves were very sleek, super well made. However, I feel like they aren't ideal for the kinds of products I personally want to travel with. I use lots of oil based cleansers, and I feel like little drippers / dispensers would be better than the pots! Hope they add on! x

I bought a few cadence capsules a few years ago, but I didn’t have enough to really use them for what I wanted to use them for (traveling with my skincare routine!) and they were too expensive to buy more. I snagged the thingdrop discount and now I finally have enough. I’ve taken them on several trips now and they hold up great. I’ve found the magnet useful. I love packing light and these are the best way to pack a thorough skincare routine into a small bag.

They need to offer larger size capsules. I’d love to be able to use these for conditioner for a weeklong trip, but I can’t due to the size. Honestly, these are overpriced for what they are. And their website makes several references to sustainability but all they sell is plastic? For the price of the product, it should be made of something other than plastic.
