Reviews mention

  • Sleek minimalist aesthetic design
  • Lightweight hard-shell construction
  • Smooth-rolling 360° wheels
  • Thoughtful interior compression system
  • Easily scuffed exterior surfaces
  • Occasional wobbly telescoping handle
  • Inconsistent zipper or mesh durability
  • Heavier, dent-prone aluminum shell

Away earns strong reviews for durable, lightweight polycarbonate and aluminum luggage that glides smoothly, packs efficiently with compression panels and a laundry bag, and is backed by responsive, often generous warranty service; however, reviews also flag easy exterior scuffing/dents, occasional zipper/handle/wheel issues, divisive or cumbersome battery compartments, and ubiquity that causes bag mix-ups. Overall, Away is good and works well for frequent travel, but buyers should expect cosmetic wear and consider darker colors or covers.

  • I have ‘The Bigger Carry-On’ and so far I love it. It comes with a small magic eraser to wipe away any scuffs that happen during travels - which is nice for my white case. Some notable features and the laundry bag and the compression flap, allowing you to fit more! There was definitely a lot of hype around the Away bag, and so far the price is paying off. Now to book more flights!!!

  • I got the Large suitcase in pink (which does get a bit annoying dirty since it's such a light color) but when the zipper broke and I emailed them, they immediately sent in a replacement. I don't travel light and most of the airports I frequent (looking at you Mexico City) don't treat luggage with any care so I'm overall happy with my purchase.

Maybe stick to darker colors unless you don't mind a bit of wear and tear but props to their CX team for being on top of it.

  • Obsessed with my Away luggage! I have the big carry-on and large luggage, both in black. They've held up during all of my "making up for covid/lost time" travels, including a month in Europe, a couple of islands, and a few trips in and out of NYC and California. My cats are also very much into Away - they keep asking me to pack them, too 🙂

  • I love my away lugging very much! The design is immaculate. From the colors, hard shell, lock and more. My co worker also has an away luggage that uses to travel weekly her zipper was broke and she said the return process was quick and easy. I don’t use mine as often because I don’t want my bag to get marked up without a luggage cover

Remember if you are travel with the battery one you have to remove it

  • My Away suitcases really move easily through airports, over curbs and maneuver easily into small places. Love the charging port on the case.

If choosing again, I would purchase the model with outside pockets to have easy access to extras. I use packing cubes, so interior pockets are not needed.

  • Was initially skeptical of Away as I wasn’t sure how it was going to hold up. Nearly a year in and I love my carry-on and have purchased many more for my friends and family.

Warning customers that their luggage might get scuffed if they opt to/are forced to check their luggage

  • My absolute favorite product that I’ve gotten from away. The weekender bag is perfect for carry on for my flights and fits my laptop and an outfit/ sweatshirt for the plane. It has many different compartments for everything and even a hook to hang onto my wallet or keys. It fits perfectly on a carry on for rolling through airport as well.

  • Away has been one of those travel brands that quietly earns trust over time. My 8-year-old carry-on roller has been through countless trips and still feels solid: the shell has scuffs, but the wheels roll smoothly, the handle works reliably, and the interior organization makes packing and unpacking simpler. More recently, my active/FAR duffel has become a go-to for shorter trips and weekends. It looks sleek and fits a TON. The materials and zippers feel durable enough to handle being stuffed, shoved into overhead bins, and dragged through terminals. There was a minor issue with the first duffel I ordered (some stitching tore after one use) but customer service handled it quickly. My replacement has held up over several trips.

  • Away has become my go to for every trip. The suitcases are lightweight but surprisingly durable, the wheels glide effortlessly (even when the bag is overloaded), and the built in organization is thoughtful without being overdesigned. The hard shell holds up incredibly well, and the internal compression system actually makes a difference. I can pack way more than I should admit. I also love that the design is clean and minimal, so it still looks good after tons of use. The customer service is great too. Helpful, responsive, and generous when anything goes wrong. If you travel regularly and want luggage that’s functional, sturdy, and still stylish, Away is an easy recommendation. It’s the kind of bag you don’t really appreciate until you try to go back to anything else.

  • LOVE MY AWAY LUGGAGE. Very great material, I actually was gifted it, and definitely would buy one with my own money! It's a great size, and just very intentional design. I think there price really does match there quality.

  • There's a reason that these suitcases have taken over airports (which unfortunately makes my life more difficult because I need to find clever ways of differentiating bags) but it's simply because these Away is one of the best. As someone who dreads checking a bag, the carry-on is the only suitcase I travel with now. I've done weeks in Asia and Europe with this mighty suitcase and glided it across cobble stones and airport carpeting with ease. After six years and multiple trips across the globe, the handle started sticking after a visit to the sandy beaches in Brazil. But true to their lifetime warranty, they sent me a replacement bag completely free of charge.

  • I own both the carryon & large packable suitcases. I love them, however, they get scuffed up so easily. Also the plastic piece that holds the zip pocket together, has snapped in both of my bags & just flops around which is a pain.

    Feedback

I wish the plastic piece was a tougher material that wouldn't break.

  • I have only purchased the packing cubes and other decorative accessories. I love the packing cubes! They are great quality, easy to fold up when not in use, and perfect for organizing.

  • My absolute favorite luggage! It is so classy and looks great, performs well, and has great features like chargers!

  • I got a light gray soft shell suitcase as a gift from the brand and I really like the color, although it feels a bit impractical and I'm nervous it will get dirty, but I think that's a sign of being well-traveled ;). I'm really happy they introduced a soft shell because it's my carry-on hack to overpacking. I'm still and always eyeing the aluminum collection.

  • I absolutely love my Away carryon. I got the normal size with the added phone charger. I am able to fit what I need to for small trips and have not had any useability issues. The portable charger is great and all the little pockets and straps inside are so helpful

  • Love the colour range. Don't love the price, but I feel like most people say it's an investment and actually lasts the distance. Away = that OG colour-coded suitcase brand.

  • Good looking, durable, and reasonable prices for luggage. I have two soft front rolling carry on pieces, and two soft front rolling check pieces. They have been used for dozens of domestic and international trips and have minimal wear and tear. Hotel staff have even commented on the smooth wheel glide. I appreciate the expandable feature, internal compartments with an optional divider, and its minimal exterior. I’ve noticed Away luggage has performed better than more high-end brands that I observed from my friends where I see dents, scrapes, and never a sale offered.

  • These are the absolute best suitcases. I have both the carry-on and large suitcase, and I’m obsessed with the personalized initials that you can get painted on to your purchases. I’d recommend Away products to literally anyone, and their customer service is so great too.
