Disappointed First-Time Buyer I regret not checking the Trustpilot reviews for Hey Rooted before placing my $175 order. I had no idea this company had a reputation for poor communication and failing to deliver healthy, high-quality plants. The small rabbit’s foot fern I received arrived in disappointing condition. It was extremely small—more like a weed than a fern—and looked nothing like the lush, long-stemmed plant pictured on the website. It had been tightly packed with a rubber band over the top, which had crushed the delicate leaves during transit. If I had known this is what I’d be getting, I never would have spent that kind of money. I reached out to customer support hoping to resolve the issue, but I’ve yet to receive any response. Frustrated and feeling let down, I decided to try again—this time ordering a rabbit’s foot fern from TheOddFrond on Etsy. Not only was it cheaper, but it arrived quickly and in far better condition right out of the box. This was my first time ordering plants online, and I honestly felt gaslit by the experience with Hey Rooted. It’s incredibly disheartening to invest that much money and be met with silence—and a sad, wilted plant that looks nothing like what was advertised. I’ve attached a photo of the plant I received from Hey Rooted, taken a week after delivery. I’ve done my best to care for it and give it time to recover, but the difference is still clear. I’ve also included a photo of the much healthier, more vibrant plant I received from TheOddFrond for comparison. The difference speaks for itself.

This company is a scam. They sent me a dead/damaged plant and refused to refund me. They said I had to purchase winter packaging. I do not live in a state that is cold. Please avoid using them!
I am a plant killer. But my rooted girls are thriving. Love them! A word of caution, all plants need more sunlight than the websites' suggest.
I was sent the Baby Desert box as a gift which was a lovely idea! The packaging is fun and you can tell some thought went into it.

On the other hand, one of the baby plants came broken and there was a mess of soil in the box. Makes me a bit nervous about how their bigger sized plants might come if the little ones arrived in such poor shape.

Purchased a Alocosia Zabrinia it came in such bad shape. Took almost 10 day to receive, still trying to save it! Short answer just don’t buy from them.

I ordered three plants, Calathea White Fusion, Song of India and a large Monestera. The White Fushion and Song of India are both beautiful and still thriving. The Monestera like all my new plants was in quarantine for two weeks. It was diseased with many many eaten leaves. I contacted Rooted, I was within the warranty period. It took a long time but they honored their warranty. I received a large mature Monestera with many fenestrations today. It was well packed but nothing to support the tall plant except for the compact box. The soil is damp but not soaked. I'll see how it does. Based on their honoring their warranty Iike they should, and my beautiful, healthy, not over priced Calathea White Fusion I'd recommend them. I trust them more than an Etsy seller. Just stay on top of them, watch the 3 week warranty period. Email, email, email them until a problem is resolved.

I'd recommend for those rare hard to find plants. Don't do Etsy where you get a 2" cutting.

Pretty sure I’ve never been disappointed more in my life. When you spend a $100 per plant and they both come in absolutely horrendous condition. I have been purchasing plants online for years. Rare plants, regular plants. I’ve literally never had plants come to me looking as bad as the ones from Rooted. Not worth it at all and I will never purchase plants from this brand again.

Quicker shipping. The plants are incredibly overpriced for what you get. You would think they would invest more money in quality shipping.

I ordered a 2.5ft cactus cutting which you pay different amount for different heights of the cutting. When I received mine it was 22inches which is just under 2ft. A 1.5ft cutting is currently $37.50 while a 2.5ft cutting is $62.50, it took 2-3 weeks to arrive and not what I ordered or paid for. They don’t do refunds or returns so I am currently waiting on a response from their customer service. I looked through all the receipts in the box and double checked my order and cannot see how they sent me a plant significantly smaller than I one I paid for.

Their plants are pricey but I thought it would be worth it. I received my snake plant today and the poor thing is completely mangled. Every single leaf is broken. I have no idea how to even salvage it. When comparing the plant I received to the photo on their website, it's a complete joke. I'll never shop here again.

Just don't offer this kind of plant whatsoever if you're unable to ship whole, healthy plants that will arrive in decent condition.

Read before you buy. I am a colossal plant enthusiast and buy plants online every week for my bedroom theme of desert cacti and hanging gardens around my Florida high-rise. Note: Look at reviews on all platforms, including Google, Facebook, Reddit, Thing Testing, and everyone. The common theme is they send people plants, tell them to contact email and text message support, and then tell people they have no responsibility because they shipped people healthy plants. These people are complete crooks and do not deserve money from anyone as they do not care about their product or the quality of the plants you receive. This company misrepresents the quality of its plants and should be avoided. When they arrived, the peruvian apple cactus was severely bent and looked broken, as if it was put in the shipping box like this. It was so distorted that it could not stand up and kept flopping over. Compared to the photo, mine looks exceptionally unhealthy and nothing like the thriving fake plants that do not exist, as shown on the website. Keep in mind I live near Tampa, only 90 miles from their nursery - imagine everyone else who lives farther away and has to deal w the company sending plants that are not packaged properly for shipping and handling. For the Montrose cactus - notice every photo on the website has multiple members that stand upright and look respectable. Yet, all I received was a single member that was bent so much it also could not stand up straight as the eccentricity of the axial load of the plant's weight is more sideways than vertical. Disbelief, I could not believe it when I reached out to the company; they told me these plants were healthy and planned on doing nothing to rectify them.
Feedback
Avoid at all costs - they are overpriced, take no pride in their products, and give you a generic sorry, we shipped healthy plants but weren't up to your expectations. All I expected was what I saw on the website, not a limp cactus that is broken, bent over, and can't stand up straight for $100.

$90 worth of plants never arrived. Customer service never answered my emails. Was never refunded.
Love my plants from rooted! I’ve always received super healthy and carefully packaged plants. Received a broken pot from them once and customer service was so lovely and sent me a replacement asap. They really take pride in what they do and it shows. My go to place to adopt new plant babies!
Living in Florida for six months, plants were the only way i could liven up my rented accommodation. They were delivered fast and well packaged. I ordered from Amazon a few years ago and was horrified with what i received. The plants were very healthy.

Nothing!
I got a small box of assorted plants, I believe the Jungle box, and loved the quick delivery.

The shipping of plants altogether is a tricky business to begin with, but these little guys came with soil all over the box and not contained well in its pot. It was so sad, but luckily I was able to save all the plants and add in soil I had at home.

Every plant or plant product that I've bought from Rooted has been wonderfully high quality (none of the plants I've bought have died, nearly a year after buying some) but you would be better off buying plants from a neighborhood or local plant shop if you can!

Overpriced!!
I've order from Rooted three times and don't think I will again - in total I ordered 6 plants and had to get rid of three of them. I loved their site and branding and mission so I wanted to give them a few tries. The first plant I ordered was fine and I still have it and it's thriving! The next plant developed mealybugs almost immediately and I had to get rid of it so it wouldn't spread to my other plants (pests happen, what can you do). The final order was a grower's choice box with 4 plants, and two of them arrived heavily damaged. I don't normally reach out to customer support about plants since a lot of stuff is out of their control, but this was bad. When I reached out, which their site recommended I do, I was sent a canned response that boiled down to "sorry about that, make sure they get some water and some light." I had to cut away all the damage, leaving me with really rough looking plants, two of which yellowed and died pretty rapidly. When I checked their roots, they had netting around them that seemed to have messed them up. All of this wasn't worth what I paid and since I've just gotten plants from local shops or etsy instead.

Receiving a canned response that barely addressed my issue made me roll my eyes. I know customer support teams are always understaffed, I worked on customer support teams for years, but it was the final straw. That, and the plants were not the best quality considering the price point.

First I ordered a set of plants. They were smaller than most, but well packaged and healthy. Next, I ordered herbs. Oh, boy! 1. The product arrived almost dead. I reached out, they offered to reship. Things happen. 2. Customer Service reships only 1 of 4 products. Again, I'm spending my precious time emailing them. They take longer than usual to respond (always). They offer a refund. 3. But now, the refund amount is wrong, I'm being refunded less than what I paid, never mind my time and I still don't have herbs for my herb garden. I'm sure there are places who do not have so many glitches, respond faster. Their plants are good, nothing so good that I can't find elsewhere.

I ordered two cat palms. The plants are nice, but one was noticeably smaller than the other and one was much more mature than the other. If you’re buying multiple plants and want them to be close to the same size/height and maturity, please do not expect to receive them in such a way from Rooted. Apparently, Rooted makes this disclaimer somewhere on their site, but it wasn’t clear to me when buying. I would’ve thought twice if I saw and understood such a disclaimer before spending almost $200 on two plants. Their customer service also was not the greatest. This was my first time shopping here, but I won’t be shopping here anymore. That’s too bad because they have nice plants.

I purchased 4 alocasias. I ordered when weather was good. They took so long to come that a cold front moved in and froze them. Only 1 is still alive. Never never again.
