Reviews mention

  • Trendy assortment and diverse brands
  • Sustainable wardrobe-refresh concept
  • Helpful fit reviews and photos
  • Easy-to-use, organized interface
  • Inconsistent garment quality control
  • Frequent size and inventory shortages
  • Slow shipping reduces wear window
  • No mid-cycle exchanges policy

Nuuly earns largely positive reviews as a stylish, sustainable way to rotate outfits for events, travel, and everyday experimentation, with many noting clean arrivals, quick shipping at times, and helpful reviews that guide fit. However, reviews also flag recurring weaknesses—slow shipping that cuts into rental time, inconsistent garment quality and wear, frequent size and inventory unavailability, no exchanges within the month, and disappointing resale “as‑is” quality—making it great for occasion dressing but less reliable for guaranteed fits and pristine pieces.

  • I am a fan of the clothes but my size is frequently never in stock for a vast majority of the pieces that I want, which has led to me recently cancelling. Also, it would be good to enable more sophisticated swap mechanism where I might be able to continue to hold onto a piece for multiple months instead of having to send the entire box back.

  • I’ve been using Nuuly for over a year now and love it! It’s really great for events like weddings and to test out seasonal pieces!

  • Nuuly has been such a fun treat for me, and feels like I’m getting 6 new items of clothes every month! I also love the option to buy something at a discounted rate if I really love it. I like the sustainable packaging and mission, and overall think it’s worth the price. Nuuly also usually ships SUPER fast. The big downside for me (others mentioned this in their reviews) is that the sizing has to be perfect otherwise you’re wasting valuable space in your rental for clothes you can’t even wear. Also, as Nuuly has gotten more popular I’ve noticed things are more and more unavailable. They add new things regularly, but it’s a bummer when I plan my next rental out and everything I wanted is out of my size. Lastly, the customer service at Nuuly has been fantastic anytime I’ve reached out. They’re super responsive and helpful!

  • I love nuuly! It's such a great value for what you get--6 items of clothing for an entire month--compared to other similar services. They have an amazing selection and add new stuff all the time, and it's nice that there's a range of brands I'm familiar with and new ones I've never heard of. I've used it for several formal events and vacations and appreciate that it lets me participate in trends without supporting fast fashion/buying items I'll wear twice and never again. Will flag that it's critical to read reviews for sizing and that some items have looked a little worn out when I receive them, but I'll definitely keep using nuuly and overall have loved it!

  • I love Nuuly! It has a lot of the popular brands that I wouldn’t want to buy because all the pieces are statement pieces! You also get all your items at the same time, which is amazing.

The app tends to glitch. Having more stock of the popular items!

  • After my first month of Nuuly, I was hooked. Such a good way to get out of fast fashion and into a more sustainable way to wear different clothes all the time.

    Feedback

It's tough to know what size you are, and the 6 item monthly limit does not include size doubles like other clothing subscription services, so you have to really guess.

  • I love having access to so many clothes without having to own them. For me, it’s better than rent the runway because Nuuly carries more casual clothing that fits my lifestyle. I’ve been using the service for 3 years now, which says something. I’ve also had my fair share of hiccups over the years which I’ll share below, but they do have an extremely responsive CS team which helps a lot.

There are a lot of things that haven’t gone right over the years, but not annoying enough for me to cancel bc I do genuinely love the service. First, their fabric shipping boxes suck. I’m sure they were innovative and cool but the shipping labels don’t adhere to them so as you can imagine, that causes lots of issues. One time I received a Box of literal cardboard boxes bc my Nuuly label fell off and somehow attached itself to another shipment. This has happened two times. A different time, my order just got lost in the warehouse and I had to pick a whole new order (and a lot of what I had picked was no longer available). Most recently, they had an XS tag on an XL garment and included it in my shipment erroneously. All of these mishaps have been met with kind customer service and some sort of a refund or offering to make it right. But the problems keep happening. I think operationally they’re still not quite there, but the clothes make the headache worth it

  • Love these guys - this service lets me cut down on my clothing budget while stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring the latest trends at no obligation. I even used for my first and fourth trimesters for my second kiddo. I travel a fair bit for work and use nuuly to tailor the clothes I buy depending on the client, city and season. I also LOVE that their packaging is eco friendly both ways in transit. I’ve tried competing products and not having that is a turn off.

I only wish they had more sizes available or would tailor ads to clothing that is available.

  • Quality is hit or miss. Some items I've received were very worn. Shipping can be incredibly slow which cuts into the time you actually can wear the items. Substitutions have been poor. If an item turns out to be unavailable, they pick the replacement and so far they've been pretty off from my original pick. Availability of items I like has been rough. It's been difficult to find items in my size, and popular items are often out of stock. I like the concept, but there's been so many drawbacks coupled with a recent price increase. I might use it sometimes to try more expensive items (like winter coats), but anything else probably won't be worth the cost.

  • I adore Nuuly — I've used it on and off for about a year and a half. I love the range of brands they have, and as a sustainable fashion lover, the ability to rent trendy, high-quality pieces is an absolute dream. The only reason I didn't give them a 5/5 was because they recently upped their prices and I'm finding it harder and harder to justify that it's worth the cost. I wish they had some flexible options, like maybe 4 items/month for a lower price? That being said, it's absolutely worth it for months when I have a trip, event, or reason to get extra dressed up. I also sometimes find myself getting disappointed when filling my Nuuly and finding out that pieces I love and had intended to rent aren't available in my size, so I wish they had more available, although I suppose that might go against their mission of sustainability. Their customer service is amazing, I've contacted them multiple times (to get refunds on months where I meant to pause but didn't in time, and even once when they thought I didn't send an item back when I definitely did) and have been blown away by their friendliness and understanding every time.

  • I used Nuuly for about a year and it was amazing. Hands down the most sustainable way to "shop" and wear statement pieces that you wouldn't ordinarily keep in your closet. Also very useful when traveling.

  • Personally, huge fan of Nuuly and a very loyal user and recommender. It scratches my browsing itch (mostly) and shopping itch almost completely. I've bought very few things in the almost 2 years since starting. They have great brands and options for a variety of needs. It really allows me to be a bit bolder than usual since I know I'll only have the item for 30 days. Shipping is typically a reliably quick turnaround. Love that it's creating less textile waste and I get new things every month!

  • Long-time nuuly user. I rave about it to almost everyone. The price point is accessible. But, the real crown jewel is you get to pick your items vs a curated box. They continually add new items and recently added a feature that allows you to categorize your closet (i.e. the place you save things you wish to rent in the future) allowing you to stay organized and segment by special occasions, seasons, events, etc. I look forward to refreshing my nuuly each month and it has really allowed me to hone my own personal style.

  • Nuuly has been super helpful when I have major events requiring many outfits. While I love the offering, I have had a few issues with the products I selected being out of stock and was sent something totally outside my style. I have also had clothing arrive unfolded/wrinkled and it felt like I was sent dirty clothes

  • On the whole, I love using Nuuly. The price tag is slightly expensive, but worth it IMO when you realize how many "new" clothes you're getting to wear versus having to actually buy new ones. Nuuly's range of styles, and how trendy/young their styles are, is distinctive among the subscription rental companies (I've tried them all - Nuuly is the only one that really works consistently for a twenty-something, all the others are for an older demographic and have far less fun weekend wear, more frumpy stuff).

I really, really, really wish that Nuuly let you do unlimited returns within the month. Only getting one box per month means that the sizing NEEDS to be right, otherwise you're wasting a valuable portion of your subscription fee on clothes that you'll never wear because they don't fit - and obviously, how can you possibly know the right size every time, so this always happens. I'd say at least 1-2 items per box are unwearable for me, which is really frustrating. Other rental companies offer an unlimited exchange plan (i.e. Armoire) which means you can just instantly swap out clothes that don't fit - and you can ultimately wear more clothes, because you can switch out a box every week or two as opposed to waiting the entire month.

  • I love love love getting my Nuuly subscription in the mail. The selection and variety far exceeded my expectations and has a younger more everyday feel than rent the runway. It’s still a hefty price tag at around $90/month and you don’t get to return items if the sizing is wrong. I love to pause it when I don’t have events coming up and then restart when it works for my schedule. The customer service is amazing! Overall I love it and have recommended it to many friends who use it now too!!

  • Love Nuuly! They have a wide range of items to choose from and it's an easy way to be sustainable when needing new outfits for a vacation or event. When selecting your Nuuly I recommend reading the reviews before making your decision. It's inevitable that you will receive items that may not fit right or you don't love as you did on the model, but unfortunately, there are no exchanges... I found reading reviews helped me eliminate dissatisfaction with my rentals!

    Feedback

I wish there was a way to have the subscription on an "as-needed" basis, there is only a pause option with automatic renewal, otherwise, you have to cancel your account completely.

  • I’ve done nuuly on and off for about a year and a half. I think it’s great for events, vacations, special occasions but isn’t worth it for everyday life (unless you work a job where you dress up everyday). The majority of the pieces I’ve gotten have been in good condition. I’ve only gotten 1 item that was unwearable, due to a hole, and customer service refunded me and gave me a bonus item the next month.

  • I'm obsessed with nuuly. I work in an office and every time someone compliments what I'm wearing they now ask if it's nuuly because I would always say "thanks, it's rented". I had a lady stop me in a coffee shop, compliment my coat, immediately download the app and join. They have a much better selection than other rental sites. 10/10 recommend. Definitely recommend getting a ton of jackets rather than tops.

  • I love using Nuuly to switch up my wardrobe and also test different clothes before I decide to purchase them. The community is great — lots of people leave really helpful reviews which makes it easier to figure out sizing, etc. I don’t love that they raised the price, and sometimes the pieces are not in the best condition, but customer service is great about taking care of this!
