Nuuly earns largely positive reviews as a stylish, sustainable way to rotate outfits for events, travel, and everyday experimentation, with many noting clean arrivals, quick shipping at times, and helpful reviews that guide fit. However, reviews also flag recurring weaknesses—slow shipping that cuts into rental time, inconsistent garment quality and wear, frequent size and inventory unavailability, no exchanges within the month, and disappointing resale “as‑is” quality—making it great for occasion dressing but less reliable for guaranteed fits and pristine pieces.

Nully is a great option for people who are wanting to spend less on new clothing, are bored of their wardrobe or looking for a sustainable option to their clothing. I started getting Nuuly when I started a new job and was no longer working from home. They have a nice selection of brands and options. You have the option to buy any of the items at a discount if you decide to keep them which is what I did for a few items i loved like this dress from Marimeko.

I think Nuuly is a great option for when you're looking for something special to wear. I tried my first box out when I was looking for a dress for graduation photos and had a vacation planned in the same month. For me, the price was worth it because I otherwise would've purchased a dress for just a one time occassion. All the clothing was good condition and fit ok/good.

I subscribed to Nuuly for a while and purhcased a few items that I'd rented. I enjoyed the experience more than I thought I would, and found it fun to rent things I either wouldn't really want to invest in without trying first... or rent things I couldn't really afford for the fun of wearing once or twice... or renting things I wasn't sure of my sizing on. If I had the extra cash, I would resubscribe. My weight can fluctuate so I kind of like the option of being able to choose things that I know might not need to be around forever.

Really loved this platform when going on a social trip or you had an event weekend to add some fun pieces to your wardrobe. Really great selection for a bunch of different occasions. I did it for a ski trip.

After being a rent runway fan for a long time, I made the switch over to Nuuly when their prices went up and have honestly been a bit disappointed in the quality. Things are wrinkled and shrunken, nothing seems to fit right. Some of it has been cute, but I guess overall you get what you pay for.

I really like Nuuly. They have great brands and styles and I love being able to try out new items or get things seasonally or for special occasions without committing to purchasing. I like the option of being able to purchase a items I like and want to keep.

Using Nuuly for almost 2 years has been an overall positive experience for me, but not without some frustrations. Some items have been in circulation for too long and aren't in good condition, so I've learned to rent mostly items that are newer to the site, and customer support has been helpful when I've received damaged items. Lots of popular/seasonal items are unavailable when I want to rent them, so I've had to be patient and flexible about what I rent when. I find the reviews and fit feedback pretty helpful, but I still have an average of one item a month that doesn't fit, which is disappointing.

I’ve been subscribed to Nuuly for almost six years now and had such a good experience. It’s taken all the pressure off getting dressed while my body is changing because I can try new styles and pieces I normally wouldn’t commit to buying. And when I do fall in love with an item, the discount to purchase it is such a nice perk. It also feels good knowing it’s a more sustainable way to refresh my closet without constantly buying new clothes. Plus, not having to wash anything before sending it back is a dream. It’s honestly one of the easiest and most fun parts of my month.

I’ve been a nuuly renter off and on since 2019. Before that, I was with a competitor, but found that nuuly’s inventory was more aligned with my personal style and lifestyle. I’ve always had excellent customer service experiences and appreciate the ability to have a rotating wardrobe for events, date nights, daily wear, and church! Such a fun membership. Biggest feedback is for more conservative options within the inventory, and more availability, especially for special events. I’m a young 30s mom and find that a lot of what is on the platform is targeting a specific body type and younger ages.

Nuuly is a great idea for anyone looking to refresh their wardrobe sustainably without committing to buying new clothes. The selection is trendy and diverse, and the ability to rent higher-end pieces is a nice perk. I’ve discovered some amazing outfits that I wouldn’t have tried otherwise, which has been really fun! What I truly appreciate is how Nuuly has helped me on my journey of underconsumption and building a mindset of minimal attachment to physical items. As a Gen Z/Millennial cusper, I’ve noticed a shift within myself toward valuing experiences and flexibility over accumulating “stuff,” and Nuuly aligns with that philosophy. It’s a great way to experiment with style without contributing to waste or feeling tied to material possessions. That said, there are a couple of drawbacks that make me hesitant to give a full 5-star rating. First, the price feels a bit steep for clothing that’s already been worn by others. While I appreciate the sustainability aspect, it’s hard to justify the cost when the items sometimes show signs of wear. Additionally, the shipping is quite slow—by the time my items arrive, I feel like I’ve lost a chunk of the rental period, which makes the service less convenient. If Nuuly could address these issues, it would be an incredible platform. For now, it’s a decent option with some clear room for improvement, but it’s also helped me grow in ways beyond fashion, which I really value. (I attached a photo of me in an Anthropologie dress from Nuuly on the right!)

I first learned about Nuuly from Thingtesting a few years ago and have been a fairly loyal subscriber (except for a few months during the pandemic). I prefer Nuuly to RTR based on the price point, brands and styles carried. The reviews and photos have been helpful to determine appropriate sizing.

I wish they carried accessories (bags, jewlery).

Seriously awful. I’m not sure how everyone else is having a great experience with this service. I got my first box & some of the items were still dirty—including lint and human hair. Aside from that all of the pieces were super worn. Like so worn they were much less quality than what was in my closet. I returned everything. The sales rep talked me into trying another box & the same thing happened. All of the shirts were so shrunken and worn that I would be embarrassed to wear them outside of my house. No way. One had a giant pull and hole in the sleeve! If you want these things in your rotation just go to goodwill and buy them all for half the price.

Literally everything except packaging.

I recently purchased two dresses from the resale division of Anthropologie, Nuuly, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. While I was initially encouraged by the promise of “gently worn” items, what I received did not match that description. One of the dresses arrived in excellent condition—just as advertised. However, the second dress was in extremely poor shape: it was balled up in the package, and the entire surface was heavily covered in pills. This condition is far from “gently used” and renders the dress unwearable. I reached out to customer service expecting a reasonable resolution, as the item clearly did not match its advertised condition. Instead, after multiple emails, I was told that the item was sold “as is” and that no refund or credit would be provided. I found this response disappointing, especially since the item was misrepresented on the site. I can’t recommend this service based on my experience. If a company isn’t willing to stand behind the quality of its products or provide a resolution for items that don’t meet advertised standards, it undermines trust in the brand. I hope Nuuly reconsiders their quality control and customer service practices moving forward, as this was a very frustrating first (and likely last) purchase.

I loved getting my nuuly box! I’m the type of girl who hates wearing the same outfit more than once so this was perfect for me! I get to wear these outfits as much as I want and return them after wearing! Then I get to pick new items to wear next month:)

A lot of the items I liked were out of stock in all sizes so it would be helpful if those were removed from viewing.

I LOVE nuuly! Such a wonderful concept with fun options. I have been using nuuly for over a year now - with an ever-evolving inventory, it keeps my closet fresh for work, weddings, and going out. You can test out funky looks that you normally wouldn’t try, trendy clothes you will only wear seasonally, and rent high-end pieces for a fraction of the price… and then you get to swap them out for something new a month later! My favorite feature is the “save to closet” button, where you can add items you may want to rent at any time, so when it comes time to place your next month’s rental, you’ve already the saved items you love.

There is definitely a large inventory of options, but with lots of customers I feel like the items I want to rent are often out of stock, not only in my size, but in a majority of sizes.

legit want to keep everything but love everything about it and their mission

It was difficult to know which sizes to purchase as there weren't any measurements listed on the site. I bought one month's subscription and was disappointed as one of the items didn't fit and there was nothing I could do to swap it for a different item. The bag arrived dirty and it was gross to keep in my apartment. I prefer the packaging from RTR.
I used Nuuly for years. As time went on it changed. I loved being able to wear a ton of new styles without being involved in fast fashion. The availability of the best items got very sparse and I wouldn’t be able to fill a box with things I actually wanted.

I started Nuuly this past fall (2024). Of the 3 rounds I ordered, I purchased a pair of jeans and a really cute winter jacket. The quality of my items felt slightly worn but in a nice, broken in sense, not like they were on their last life. I even got a handful of items with the tags still on - the jeans I purchased being one of them and you still get to purchase at the discount (used) price! Overall, I think nuuly is a great resource if you want to try out a new style, brand, or have a fun event coming up - but not necessarily something you need on repeat each month. This is why their pause feature is a great perk too!
I love nuuly. Its the perfect way to try out a new style or rent a dress for a special occasion for an affordable price. The styles are cute and they have a great range of casual and basic to a little more out there allowing you to try a little bit of both or stay within your comfort zone. As someone who likes trying new styles but is a serial returner, this is a good way for me to try things out without committing to them
