Nuuly earns largely positive reviews as a stylish, sustainable way to rotate outfits for events, travel, and everyday experimentation, with many noting clean arrivals, quick shipping at times, and helpful reviews that guide fit. However, reviews also flag recurring weaknesses—slow shipping that cuts into rental time, inconsistent garment quality and wear, frequent size and inventory unavailability, no exchanges within the month, and disappointing resale “as‑is” quality—making it great for occasion dressing but less reliable for guaranteed fits and pristine pieces.

I've been using Nuuly for a few months now, and have been enjoying so far–great options and variety! The shipping is super fast, and so far all of my stuff has come in really great condition. It feels like a nice refresh for my wardrobe every month without building up a huge collection of clothes that I only wear once in awhile. Perfect for me since I have minimal storage space!

I have been a big fan of Nuuly, but they have a bit of room for improvement. I enjoy that they carry styles that also caters to a younger crowd with on trend items. I enjoy the imagery of the products on the models. That said, they need to add more quantities of their styles. The vast majority of the pieces I choose are often times unavailable and for many weeks if not months. I left recently for this reason. Also the interface is way overdue for an update. For example, you should be able to make lists for different occasions, hid unavailable items in your size from showing up, etc. So much times is wasted just looking for items. Hoping they make some updates soon and I can come back. I’d still recommend for a rental newbie, but experienced renters might want to wait for an update like I am.
I have been subscribed to Nuuly on and off for the past three years. I love the idea of being able to change up my clothing rotation and try out pieces that I would not necessarily purchase because of the unique-ness of them. Pros: Easy to use interface for selecting items for your box and saving ones for your closet. The bag/box the clothes comes in is great and keeps the clothes safe. There can be a great selection of clothes that I want to try out. Cons: over time it does feel like the inventory volume has not kept up with the increase in subscribers. Each time my selection window is open at least half of the items I have saved are unavailable (consistently so). Recently it does feel like there hasn't been as many new pieces (or at least ones that are available). Shipping can also take a significant amount of time, cutting down the time you actually have to wear the clothes (often takes a full week, so miss out on 25% of my month).
I am not a current subscriber but have subscribed to Nuuly in the past. I love their brands! I work in a casual environment, so other clothing subscription services don't have the type of items I was looking for. Nuuly is great for when you're going on vacation and you really want new clothes but can't justify buying several items new. Love the sustainability and fast shipping. Only downside is I loved several items I rented and ended up purchasing them!
Love the concept but hate that if something comes damaged you can’t get a replacement, you get a $15 refund and an extra thing to rent the next month. They’re easy to get a hold of which is great. This is a good option if you have a lot of events coming up, are pregnant, or in between sizes and trying to find your new style. Shipping also takes a good 7 days.
I'm addicted! The monthly nuuly experience is always a joyful whist stressful time. They are very good at curated your feed based on your selections and likes, so you have to take the time to use the app to help them help you find better pieces. if there are things you really want , you have to put in the work stalking the site to get them, but you'll find some magical pieces!
I was so excited to join Nuuly and really loved the first few months. Over time it seems like they never have anything that I want in my size which is incredibly frustrating. I will say they have incredible customer service. I received a box that smelled like smoke and they refunded my money. If they improved their selection and availability I would come back but otherwise this may be a thing of the past for me.
Good place to find an event dress or outfit. Great selection of trendy pieces in diverse range of sizes. Really helpful customer user reviews and photos that offer real life examples of fit and quality check. New items are added often but popular ones are hard to secure if you need for a specific time/event.

I really wanted to like Nuuly but unfortunately there were too many drawbacks. They really do have cute and stylish clothes, especially for 20-somethings, but they are out of my size too often. Not to mention it’s a steep price for someone early in their career :/
LOVE Nuuly! They have a large assortment fit for any style and a sustainable option for clothing :)

CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS. My toxic trait has always been that I hate to be an outfit repeater. Once the outfit has been heavily photographed, it sits in the back of my closet for years to come..... hence the need for Nuuly I started renting for all major events. Conferences, graduation weekends, vacations... anything with lots of pictures, I'm getting nuuly. They package pretty quickly and I frequently end up with mostly NWT items. CONS: they're getting too popular .... so I will save ten items to a board to rent in a week and when I come back - all ten are rented out.
Really enjoy using Nuuly and being able to switch up my wardrobe. Sometimes it’s difficult to figure out sizing, and rarely pieces arrive too worn out, but they are good at making it right.

I am really enjoying nuuly; most of my clothes have come brand-new still with tags, and shipping for me usually takes around 2 days. I like the range and have found some really great pieces I've ended up purchasing. It's a nice way to engage in trends without funneling through fast fashion items that won't last the season or won't get worn more than once.

The collection for plus-sized women is absolutely abysmal.

Nuuly advertises, their clothing is gently used. The clothing I received would not even be accepted by a thrift store. It was severely worn. Please do not waste your money on clothing that will go right in the trash. I tried to reach out to customer service on multiple occasions each time I was just sent a canned response about their policy stating no returns. Please consider other sources for your secondhand clothing purchases. Save yourself the headache.

Not great customer service, took a few days to respond, I also don't agree with their policies as a first time customer. I won't be using their service again as they don't allow returns or exchanges. Not worth the $$

Rent the Runways ugly sister. Shipping took 5 days so I only got to wear my clothes for 25 days and 2 of the 6 items felt worn. One was missing a button. Just not worth paying $110. I would just buy their clothes when they are on sale and switch back to RTR and rent high end, high quality pieces.

I am genuinely bummed that I ordered my clothes almost a week ago and they are not here. I feel like you pay way too much for this subscription for this to be the case. I leave for a wedding today, without my dress and other clothes I ordered for my trip. This was suppose to make my life easier not harder. I think this will be my last order with Nuuly unfortunately. I really never leave reviews but this has actually caused me an unnecessary amount of anxiety. Please be better about your shipping arrangements, people have events and they bank on their clothing to arrive on time.

I purchased an Anthropologie dress that was advertised as "Gently worn". I am a big supporter of repurposing, but receiving a dress with a broken zipper is unacceptable. Nuuly's customer service states that there are no returns on "As- Is" items even on damaged pieces. This experience stems from poor quality control and false advertising. I will contest the charge with my bank and will never trust this site.

I dropped my nuuly off after cancelling my subscription. Too many poor substitutions / no way to get a replacement if sizing is off / etc. I was just charged over 550 dollars for product I don’t have because someone at the post office I suppose decided to keep the nuuly I dropped off. I am unable to reach nuuly support. I have not heard back about the matter.

Has Nuuly curbed my shopping problem? I began using Nuuly around the holidays 2022. The first holiday not quarantined, my body and style had changed, and I couldn’t fathom seeing my loved ones without looking and feeling my best. I joined with a hefty holiday deal as well as a referral bonus of $10. This first month I sourced Free People and Anthropologie dresses for every special event as well as various sweaters for the more casual days in between. Since then, I’ve become a monthly user. I look forward to shopping the New Arrivals and checking the availability of favorites I’ve saved to my closet. I get to wear a new and trending outfit to any and all social events, including weddings to dinner dates. Products arrive clean and in great condition in a fabric bag with a return label. Slap the label on the front, make sure you shove everything back in, and spend 5 minutes at a UPS store to return your rental. The sizing and reviews rely on users to share photos and experiences with the pieces, which can bring a striking level of realism to a piece you are shopping. All in all, Nuuly has kept me from buying any new one-event-only outfits since I’ve joined, which is probably hundreds of dollars saved. I feel excited to try new styles guilt free and get the “high” of shopping from their easy to use site.
