Reviews mention

  • Smooth-writing gel pens
  • Thoughtful minimalist design
  • Durable storage organizers
  • Calming in-store atmosphere
  • Boxy apparel fits
  • Occasional pen smudging
  • Inconsistent clothing quality
  • Flimsy cleaning tools

Muji earns strong reviews as a minimalist one‑stop shop that works well for stationery, storage, and home basics—its 0.36–0.5 gel pens, notebooks, diffusers, and modular organizers draw consistent praise for smooth performance, thoughtful design, and longevity. Reviews also flag drawbacks: clothing can fit boxy or feel mid‑quality, some items (especially certain home goods) feel overpriced, pens may smudge or skip, and online selection/UX lags, making in‑store experiences distinctly better.

  • I love Muji. I love their simplicity and aesthetics. They sell everything from clothing to office supplies to everyday household products.

  • I absolutely love their stores, especially their stationary supplies. I only write with their .5 pens and love them so much

  • Muji is a go-to. Quality products and the stores offer a super pleasant shopping experience.

  • Muji pens and stationery are my go-to. The store in Hudson Yards is great—always has the diffusers diffusing. Good vibes.

You're probably going to like this place a lot more than IKEA.

  • I like ambience and Japanese aesthetic in Muji stores as much as products. Travel foldable bags, personal care items (foldable thin comb, for instance) and clothes is very convenient for daily life and have a good quality.

If you see some product that could make your daily life easier, it's worth giving it a try because maybe it actually will.

  • Obsessed with Muji's pens and notebooks! They both write so smoothly. I'm sad they don't have any locations in Texas (although that's probably a good thing for my wallet), but I always stock up whenever I'm in NYC and now I basically have enough to start a small stationery store.

  • Has a lot of focus on simplicity and clean products. Love the stationary products like the notebooks and pens. Very affordable as well.

  • Love the blend of aesthetics and functionality. The quality is moderate, in my experience. But, this is a go-to place for clever solutions with a stylish perspective.

  • Love the minimalist aesthetic and variety of goods they sell. Fan of their pens and stationary but heard quality has declined. Also like their aromatherapy oil blends as well.

  • They do effortless minimalism so well. Not easy to create a cult-following around basics, but Muji succeeds in getting you excited about pens & organization.

Prices aren't as accessible as they used to be!

  • I love that they have the right selection of products that most people need in their homes. The minimalist branding makes it easy to incorporate into any home and the quality is always good. However, I don't think this justifies their pricing. Their prices are very high for the basics they sell, almost at a premium level, but I don't find their products to be premium in quality nor innovative. They're just basics, just branded very well.

  • Muji is great. They offer simplistic affordable stationery, quality clothing, and really cute home goods. I like their simplistic offering of makeup products from the Japan stores, as well as the clothing tailored towards Asian bodies in the Japan branches. USA is not exactly on par, but you can find an abundance of stationery wherever you are. Europe (Milan store) offered a decent amount of clothing, and I feel more substantial than US stores I've been in. Nothing beats the original Japanese branches though :) Overall very cohesive brand and simplistic high-quality aesthetic. The Japanese equivalent to IKEA, if you will.

Price points can be somewhat high, and clothing material quality feels about on par to UNIQLO, which is why the pricing can be a bit shocking at times. I've had a couple of their pens burst though. I recommend the click pens rather than the capped gel ones.

  • Love Muji. It's my go-to for home organization and apparel basics.

  • My favorite brand for all things ranging from stationary, simple and functional clothing, and minimal household goods. Great quality, very decent prices, and that sleek look that can't be beat.

  • Muji has the greatest selection of stationary for the price. My pencils + pens are all from there and the quality is great. The household products are also nice and simple. The store and product design are very minimalistic. The only thing I would for sure avoid is the skincare. Not a fan of the formulations.

  • I love everything Muji makes, especially their stationary. I use their pens exclusively and love their travel essentials and minimalist clothing. Any time I'm visiting a city that has a Muji, I make it one of my first stops on my trip.

The website doesn't have a great UX and things seem to be out of stock frequently.

  • Like IKEA but better. Most items in my apartment can be upgraded to Muji. Their stationary section is a hidden gem. Stress melts away when you walk into the store. Their clothing is excellent quality.

Love love love. I wish there were more stores.

  • It's Muji. There are so many good quality, well-priced things you can buy here. But consider this a review of their pens — just the perfect pens, period. Only pens I've used for years, in terms of ballpoint.
