Ghirardelli earns strong reviews as a reliably good chocolate brand that excels in baking and gifting, with standout brownie mixes and smooth, rich dark chocolate (notably Sea Salt Almond, Peppermint Bark, and Blood Orange). Reviews also flag inconsistencies—some filled bars read mediocre, occasional lack of detectable sea salt, and a few tasters prefer other premium brands—making the core chocolate solid rather than transcendent for everyone.

I love using their melting chocolates for baking desserts. They are also great for dipping fruit in.
I love this chocolate it's one of my favorites pricier but worth it it's smooth and melts in your mouth
delicious
Well known and world famous brand for chocolate! It's great for gifts, I usually give the dark chocolate Ghiradelli for adults, and the Lindt truffles for kids as the Lindt tends to be much sweeter.
amazing brownies
Good chocolate

I'm picky about my chocolate. Ghirardelli is a solid choice, but not among my favorite.
The Sea Salt Almond is amazing.

Their chocolate is okay, not my favorite and not that premium tasting, but it's also not the worst. Decent creaminess and okay price. If I were just reviewing the chocolates, I'd give them a three... But what raises my rating to a four is their boxed brownie mixes! They're the best. If this review was just about the brownie mix, it'd be a five, but I've instead averaged my score to a four to account for okay chocolate candy. The brownie mix is easy to make and tastes delicious, plush, and chocolatey with a few different varieties to choose from. Tastes almost as good as homemade from scratch and even though I'm a baker and know a few amazing brownie recipes, I still make the Ghirardelli box mix sometimes because it's convenient, quick, easy, and tastes scrumptious. Don't even bother looking at other brownie box mixes, the Ghirardelli one is the best!
I feel personally that the chocolate is okay , it’s not the best but not the worst .
Ghirardelli’s is decent chocolate but nothing worth swooning over. It’s a step up from Toll House or Hersheys, with richer and creamier textures but not as good as Sharffen Berger when it comes to quality baking chocolate. As far as bar chocolate goes it’s a good grocery store brand but I almost never buy this unless I need mini holiday chocolate squares for a stocking or advent calendar.
My son loves the Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark.
Ghirardelli makes the best chocolate! I love it for snacking and also making chocolate chip cookies and bars. They have a variety of chocolates to choose from. Ghirardelli is always my go to!
I was the biggest fan of the Ghiradelli Cookie Mixes back in the day - they were the BEST! As an avid baker, I would hoard these like anything and am so sad they discontinued them. I still love the dark chocolate bars especially with the Toffee bits. Their chocolate chips are also really high quality and melt really well in baked goods.

I love there 72% dark chocolate, not bitter like other brands, but it has a rich decedent chocolate taste, it tastes high quality.
Their chocolate chips are the best for cookies! And the little bars are amazing! Favorite is the dark chocolate with sea salt and almond. Perfect snack size for people needing self control.
Creamy decadent and useful chocolate. Always my baking go to! I especially love the squares with dried fruit in them.
