Reviews mention

  • Vibrant, giftable packaging design
  • Flavorful, smoky seafood selections
  • Ethical, sustainability-forward sourcing
  • Reliable, tender flaky textures
  • Small portions per tin
  • Occasional dry, chewy cod
  • Overly smoky, salty profiles
  • Unbranded, plain interior tins

Fishwife earns strong reviews for genuinely flavorful, high‑quality tinned seafood—standouts include Smoked Albacore Tuna, Smoked Rainbow Trout, and Fly By Jing Smoked Salmon—paired with dazzling, giftable packaging and a sustainability ethos. Reviews also flag meaningful drawbacks: small portions, frequent dryness or chewiness in cod and some salmon, a pervasive smoky profile that can overpower, unbranded “naked” tins, limited variety, and polarizing flavors; many find it best for special occasions rather than everyday use.

  • I really like flavors of Fishwife I tried - Smoked Salmon with Fly by Jing Sichuan Chili Crisp and Smoked Rainbow Trout. I don't think they're necessarily worth the money, though, and I'm not sure how I would incorporate them into a larger meal

  • Great product, great branding, great mission. Excited to see this brand get wider distribution!

  • High quality canned fish. Love the Fly by Jing collab smoked salmon.

  • Delicious! I was hesitant to hop on the tinned fish trend, but these were a great first step. Not too "fishy" and I didn't have to worry about accidentally leaking oil everywhere. I'd definitely buy again.

  • Fishwife is so so tasty, and has such a cute vibe. My personal favs are the rainbow trout jerky gems and their collar with fly by Jing. They're so good right out of the tin with some bread. I love bringing these to friends houses with a nice charcuterie board!

  • I love these tins. I had this company at Salty Girl in LA and was surprised at the elevated quality

  • Obsessed! I first learned about this from Kiernan Shipka's can't live without article and she obviously has good taste so, I had to look into it for myself. I bought a shipment with a couple of different ones and love how easy this is to pair for a quick meal or a snack.

It has great packaging and so fun to eat. I would love to be able to get it locally so, excited for when it finally launches in Whole Foods.

  • Tinned fish! The packaging is what sells this. All of the fish inside is actually good too... but once you open the cardboard it isn't very unique. Does taste good though! And some fun collabs with other brands.

  • Whenever I see this brand in stores and on social media, I get a jolt of excitement. The branding is absolutely stunning. This makes for a great gift.

  • Super cute packaging and marketing. The taste of the cod was not my favorite—it had almost a jerky kind of flavor. Interesting concept, but it’s just not for me.

Not sure. I’d need to try some more of their flavors.

  • SO yummy! I tried the campfire cod collab with Graza and it was super tasty and well seasoned. Brought it to the beach for a picnic with crackers, pickles and cheese .... *chef's kiss*

I wish it was a liiiiiittle more affordable. Super pricey for a small amount of fish, but I understand fish is $$$.

  • Packaging was so cute and the quality of the product was very good. I found the cod to be not as a strong a flavor as their other products like the trout, but still really tasty. It was great in a pasta salad

    Shipping was a bit slow

  • I had the campire cod - it was very delicious and high quality. My only complaint is the amount of fish in one tin - it was barely enough for one serving.

Reduce the price to better reflect the quantity of fish.

  • I knew I was going to like this brand because I love smoked fish, but I didn't know how much I was going to like it. I tried the campfire cod limited edition featuring Graza olive oil, I added it in a caesar salad recipe where I usually use a smoked trout but this leveled up the taste in the best way possible. Everything about this brand feels elevated from the branding to the product itself. I'll be repurchasing for sure.

  • The branding/packaging/merch is amazing. The fish is also very very good, especially the Fly by Jing collab.

Pricey. It's a bit of a luxury. I also eat some really good tinned fish for half the price.

  • Love the smoked tuna from Fishwife - and very excited to try the other flavors! The look of the brand is so fun and makes eating tinned fish feel cool :)

    More flavors!

  • I tried the tined anchovies and honestly they were exceptional anchovies. That being said ,the price point is a little high for what it is. The quality is definitely there, but at the end of the day I can't always justify spending so much on tinned fish. Definitely a fantastic upgrade when it's in the budget though!

  • Their anchovies are excellent, and I like their other products a lot (the chili crisp salmon is a stand out). However, I’m lucky to be able to get Fishwife at wholesale price; if I was paying full price, I don’t think it would feel worth the money. Their marketing and mission are great, and obviously the packaging is adorable! Makes a good gift, but pricey for every day use.
